This is the very first book in The Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green and I was a fan. Almost 2 stories in one, Stacy did a good job of character development and pulling me into the whodunit, while not getting me confused with the current investigation and Nikki’s personal history that is woven into the story. I figured out the killer pretty early on, but it was still nice to read how things played out.

Read this book if you like twist,, turns, heart wrenching thriller mystery! This was a first time author for me and I immediately went to her website and signed up for her news letters. One sitting read, I had to find out. Two stories are they connected? The killer was a surprise, I love when I cannot guess the end. FBI agent Nikki lost her parents to murder when she was a teenager, the killer is in jail. She goes back home is because of a lead on the "Frost" killer. The two teenage bodies were not killed by Frost but she intends to find the killer. She is tough, she is soft, she is a mother and I could feel her pain, bask in her intelligence and sigh when she found comfort. I am thrilled this is book 1 and I definitely cannot wait for book 2. Many many thanks to Stacy Green for writing this book, the publisher Bookouture and to NetGalley. What a ride! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

The book begins with Nikki at sixteen; her best friend has picked her up from a party - Nikki and her boyfriend had a rough fight. Nikki has been drinking and just wants to go home. Her front door is open. There is blood on the stairs. She finds her parents dead - viciously murdered. And then the stairs creak.
Twenty years later she returns to Stillwater - two young girls have been found murdered, frozen, in the snow. Nikki is now an FBI agent, head of the BAU unit; a serial killer named Frost has been lingering just out of her reach for years - could this be his recent kill?
As Nikki investigates the young girls' brutal murder, Mark Todd, convicted for her parents' murder, is about to be granted a new trial. Due to new discovered biological matter recovered from her mother, the case could be reopened - Mark Todd could be innocent.
Struggling with guilt, hazy memories and Mark's brother, Rory, Nikki attempts to balance her case, her past and attraction.
This book did not disappoint. Incredible suspense. Twists. The new evidence and police investigation that led to Mark's conviction were creative, thought provoking - it just pulled me in more.
At times, Nikki's attempt to work through her hazy memories were a little lengthy and bogged down the movement.
Great writing. I highly recommend.

Special Agent Nikki Hunt is no stranger to murders! She has been tracking serial killers for the FBI and has a reputation for getting her man, but there is one who has need elusive The Frost Killer. She is called to her hometown because there has been a double murder of two young girls who have the same MO as the Frost Killer. Nikki is hesitant about it, because her parents were murdered when she was 16, but they caught the young man who did the killing. She went, but she knew right away that someone was just trying to make it look like the Frost Killer. Therefore, it was a local. Her team and her decided to stay on the case. It was two 15 year old girls that were killed.

But, the man who killed her parents was trying to get an appeal and it was playing havoc on her mind.
Someone is trying to keep information buried from the original files as well?

Intrigue and twists and turns that you will not see coming! The author does a superb job in keeping the flow of the book moving forward! I think she did a phenomenal job with the characters. I would read more about this character and her team.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

This book took me a little bit to get into, but once it gripped me, it didn't let me go for the entire white-knuckled rollercoaster ride!

Nikki's parents were murdered when she was 16 years old and she hasn't been back to Stillwater since. However, she is now a FBI agent and there are two frozen girls who need her to come and lend her expertise to solving what happened to them. What follows is one heck of a twisty, turny story, involving the present and the past, until Nikki has no idea which way is up. People she thought she could trust, turn out to be not that trustworthy.

Stacy Green is a new author to me and I am excited that I got to read the first book in the series, because I can't wait to read the next one!

5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This book was honestly better than I thought it would be. It seems I am forever searching for a mystery where I can't guess the end. At one point I thought I did, but the Green turned it on it's head and I ended up thinking the completely wrong thing.

Nikki Hunt was a very compelling character. She was tough but not unrealistically so given her background. I liked her team and I (for once) didn't find myself yelling at the book as the MC makes another careless decision. She thought things through and trusted her gut where many characters in her situation would do the exact opposite .

Now for the mystery aspect. It was actually very compelling. Both the one from Nikki's childhood, and the one she's dealing with now. And it also set up the series for a great cat-and-mouse game with the Frost Killer. I loved that, while mentioned, the serial killer wasn't tackled head-on and we instead started a series with a smaller scale.

The writing was great as well. Compelling, fast, definitely not boring. I can't wait for the next one to come out. I've finally found a mystery series where I actually like the MC and wasn't annoyed at the obvious ending. Overall, an solid, solid first book in what I know is going to be a great series.

Chilling Suspense....
Stillwater, Minnesota, in a remote forested area the bodies of two girls are discovered frozen in the snow. Who is the killer? Nikki Hunt, special agent, is determined to find out. Chilling suspense with twists, turns and misdirection along the way. Engaging reading.

FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt returns to Stillwater, Minnesota after twenty years to investigate the deaths of two fifteen year old girls. Despite being made to look like the work of Mr Frost, a serial killer Nikki is hunting, she is not convinced he is the murderer.
At the same time demonstrations are being held calling for the release of the man convicted of killing sixteen year old Nikki’s parents . Mark Todd was found guilty based on Nikki’s testimony at the time of the killings but new evidence has been found that claims to prove his innocence.
Nikki sets out to understand her confused memories relating to the death of her parents and uncovers lies, deceit and an investigating police officer with a hidden agenda. She soon realises she made a mistake and an innocent man has spent half his life in prison.
A clever twist at the end reveals the murderer of the two girls is not who Nikki was expecting but this discovery almost has serious consequences for her.
This book is a brilliant start to what will hopefully be a very good series and I cannot wait for the next instalment of Special Agent Nikki Hunt.

First of all .. credit to the amazing cover which is what really got me into this book and I have to say I’m definitely not disappointed

Nikki hunt escaped from Stillwater 20years ago a place where she was known as the girl who’s parents were murdered.

Now as an FBI agent, she’s invited to Stillwater to work on a case “the murder of two teenage girls Maddison and kaylee found frozen in the snow”

She dreads coming back but after finding out Maddison’s step father is John ( her ex-boyfriend and a person she trusted the most) she decided to work on it but suddenly the case gets complicated and it seems to be linked with her parents murder

The case brings back all the memories she worked so hard to forget and she starts realizing that the people she once trusted the most are not to be trusted at all and what if her parents murderer Mark Todd who’s been in jail for 20years is actually wrongly accused?

The story was really an interesting fast paced book full of twists which became my instant favorite

There’s only one thing that the writer didn’t show and that is the sherif being punished because he did something wrong 😑 but I don’t mind that much because everything else was perfect

A full 5🌟 star for this one as I loved everything about it from the plot, the characters, the dialogues and every single thought and detail .

My thanks goes to NetGalley , Bookouture and Stacy Green for making me enjoy this beautiful book
I’m looking forward for the next book in this series . ❤️

“When the bodies of two 15-year-old girls are found in a small town, Special Agent Nikki Hunt is sure the killer is local. Home for the first time in 20 years, Nikki is desperate to lead the case. She becomes distracted when she learns her parents killer is appealing his sentence with new evidence to clear his name. Nikki knows she must focus on the killer at large, but are the girls connected to her parents’ murder all those years before?”
First, a thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy! I really enjoyed this mystery/thriller. I was disappointed because some of my questions were not answered in the end, specifically regarding the Frost Killer. I also had a hard time liking our main character Nikki.
I gave it a four-star rating because I thought the story was intriguing, I didn’t see the big twist coming and it was a quick but fun read! Many chapters ended on a cliff-hanger so I never put it down. I would recommend this book to fans of The Night Swim, they both follow more than one case at a time adding depth to the plot. I would also recommend this to any crime television fans, has elements of Criminal Minds and Law and Order throughout the book.

4.5⭐
This is "Criminal Minds" meets "Sharp Objects" rolled into an intense and wild story of a woman, a girl, a murderer and the snow.

Being the first in a series and not having the series completed isn't normally my M.O. But when I read this synopsis I knew I was going to be intrigued by this book. What I didn't anticipate was being absorbed from start to finish in this story that literally sucked me in and didn't release me until the end.
First of all, I need book 2 like yesterday and second of all, thank you Netgalley and Stacy Green for the excellent read! I was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to see what else Nikki will do!

Stillwater, Minnesota was home for FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt until she left it behind to go to college. Devastated by the murder of her parents while still at high school she had never planned to return.

Hunting for a serial killer Nikki's team is called in when the bodies of two girls missing in Stillwater are found in a similar condition to her killer’s victims. After twenty years things have changed, those she knew are older, her peers have settled down into respectability, and time has moved on. For Nikki however, her nightmare is still front and centre of everything she does.

When the brother of Mark Todd, the man she helped convict two decades earlier, asks her to take another look at the case and the irregularities which have recently been highlighted Nikki starts to wonder if she can remain focused.  The two girls deserve justice but so do her parents and the possibility of a mistrial and the release of Mark Todd can't fail to distract her. She knows she needs to remain calm but, with her responsibilities beginning to overwhelm her, Nikki isn't sure she can do that any more.

I absolutely loved this and devoured it in two nights. The storyline is first class and I was very near the end before I began to see where the story was headed. Nikki is a great main protagonist, her team likeable and well used in this taut and impressive story. The people, the locations and the benefits of offender profiling carry this story and I was sorry to finish it. I will absolutely be on the look out for the second book in this series.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this thanks to NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an unbiased review. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys this author's work or wants an excellent new set of books to become absorbed in; it is first class.

Life experiences change you. Major events, like murder, can touch people way beyond your circle of existence and that can result in far reaching consequences. “The Girls in the Snow” was my first book by Stacy Green and I really enjoyed it. There were a lot of twists and turns and I was drawn in from the very first page. I can’t wait for book two in this exciting new series!

There's a good reason why FBI SA Nikki Hunt hasn't been home to Stillwater, Minnesota for years - her parents were murdered when she was a teen. Now though, she's a profiler and she's in town to determine whether two girls who were tragically murdered are also victims of Mr. Frost, a serial killer she's been hunting. Things become more complicated when protests start about Mark Todd, who she identified as the killer of her parents. No spoilers from me but there are a number of players here, including Mark's brother Ben, and John, the stepfather of one of the missing girls. Are the cases linked? What about Dr. Frost? Again- this one you need to read for yourself to follow the twists. Nikki is a well written character who I found myself rooting for. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I'm looking forward to the next one- and more answers.

This is my first novel by Stacy Green and it definitely was hard to put down! It is about an FBI agent, Nikki, whose parents were gruesomely murdered when she was a teenager. She has to return to the town it all happened to investigate another murder and questions start arising about if the convicted killer of her parents really did it. What really happened that night and is it connected to these new deaths?

At first I thought Nikki was a bit too perfect which bothered me, but as the story progresses you realize she's much more complex than the appearance she tries to maintain. Trying to be a good mom, good at her job and compartmentalize her traumatizing past in order to live her life. The journey she takes returning to her hometown, forcing herself to revisit that past and what really happened that night - struggling to accept the truth is anything different than what she believed. I really enjoyed this read as a big thriller reader as I wasn't sure which way it was going to go - Is this an unreliable narrator? Corrupt cops? Manipulation? Who was telling the truth?

The recent murder of the two girls also acted as a fast paced whodunnit and I was genuinely surprised with who the killer was! The suspense builds throughout the story and escalates nicely at the end bringing together past & present in a shocking ending.

Brilliant thriller with a lot of suspense and twists. This story had me hooked from the start. The characters and the storyline are totally convincing. Nikki has a memorable back story and I hope there will be more books about her.

I was so looking forward to reading this book, unfortunately for me it did not deliver. A very busy read, two young girls are found trussed together frozen in the snow. Are these girls the latest victims of a serial killer named Frost. Nikki Hunt from the FBI has been called in to solve the case, she has been hunting for this killer for some time. Nikki was so annoying I just wanted to shake her and tell her to get on with her job. Too much time was spent on her love life and a cold case in which she was a witness. For me this story was far from believable. Saying that I am sure other readers will enjoy it more just not for me.
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Special Agent Nikki Hunt must return to her home town to investigate two murders. Nikki thought she would never have to go back to the town where her parents were murdered when she was a teenager. She has spent her life trying to forget. Now she must face the past and catch a killer.
I liked the characters (some of them anyway) and the book kept me engaged throughout. Stayed up late to finish it. This is the first book in a series and I can't wait for the next one.
