This is the perfect time for a book like this! With more and more people getting into the houseplant hobby, a good reference for how to care for them is needed. Davidson has done a good job of covering all the basic houseplants. Each plant's needs are covered, from watering, potting and light needs. This would be the perfect gift for anyone new to houseplants.

Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Cool Springs Press and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was so good! It was super informative and I'll take a lot of what I learned with me. I'm so glad I read it!

This book came right on time.

This summer I bought many indoor plants to decorate my house. I didn't know anything about plants. I wasn't a plant person. But these days I felt my house is so empty, so I added some greens, and now it's so pretty.

After I bought some new plants, some of the plants died. I have no idea why.
This book helps me to figure it out. Some of my plants are covered here, some others are not. But that's okay, there is Google for that.

The pictures are well taken. I like them.

A handy reference for any houseplant parent. The bulk of the text covers 42 of the most common houseplants, listed alphabetically by Latin name. Each entry gets at least a two page spread, more if the plant has many varieties, with photos and all the information you'll need to grow the plant successfully. The information is clear and easy to follow, giving general info about the plant, ideal living conditions, and common problems and solutions. At the end of the book, there's a section covering general tips on choosing and purchasing plants, watering and feeding, how to figure out the lighting in your rooms and what types of plants work where, soil and potting, pests and diseases, symptoms to look for and what they mean, and a glossary of terms. This is a good book for a beginner, and a helpful resource for any level indoor gardener.

An informative and pleasing to the eye guide to plant maintenance.

I had a lot of fun going through this book.
despite it being full of plants I haven't seen before I was so intrigued to learn about new plants and how they can be nourished and made to thrive.

I loved the pictures and loved the short bite sized entries about each plant.

This is a pretty great book to have on hand when picking out or caring for houseplants. When I requested the book, I intended to invest in houseplants but by the time my access to the book ended, I had not read it completely nor used to it to purchase a book. Therefore I cannot really say I 'Read' the book.
I would still recommend it to anyone embarking on the houseplant buying/caring journey.

Doctor Houseplant offers straightforward, helpful information on 42 of the more common houseplants. Each entry has a photo, a description of the conditions that the plant requires and common concerns for the particular plant. The entries are not complicated and are very clear.
We have a few plants on our balcony and I have varying success with them. This Doctor Houseplant gives me greater confidence to expand beyond my usual plants and to experiment with others.

There was some good information in this book but unfortunately not enough detail for plants within each category. I did learn some new information about caring for my houseplants.

A useful care guide for a few dozen of the most common houseplants, including light and water requirements, and identifying and combating the most common problems. My only real complaint is that it didn't include entries for some of the plants I have.

I'm not someone who is very well versed in how to look after houseplants, but I am someone who buys them a lot  (maybe too much I have them everywhere), adores them, and has them inside and outside. I found that the author has used very simple, down-to-earth, and straight-forward language. It felt to me as a reader as if when he wrote this book, he had in mind someone like me. 'The non plant expert or gardener, who loves plants everywhere in the house!' It's so easy to read, understand, and follow. The book covers for each variety of plant  and indoor herb plant it's ideal lighting, temperature, and water requirements. I loved this information as I could see why my Spider Plant died. I wasn't familiar at all with the full botanical names for each plant or herb, I just understood the supermarket names like Spider Plant, the author uses both-- full botanical and common names, so we can follow along well. There are some very common plants too that can be found everywhere, so if you like the look of some as I did you could probably purchase it easily. This makes the author's book very accessible for everyone, I love that.

The book is visually stunning in an e-version, I would imagine even more so in hardback. The organisation of the book is good too. I also really love that, from all of the plants  and herbs in the book I spotted at least four plants alone not counting herbs that I either have, or have had. Now I know why from reading this book, why possibly one died-- not enough light where I placed him. So now of course I feel confident to purchase another plant like the one I had, and I have an ideal home in mind with better lighting.  Also, with the plants mentioned that I  do have, that are growing well I feel confident in how I can keep them doing well from reading this book.

Generally for me as someone who really likes plants, does their best, and most of the time it works out this is a brilliant reference book that I recommend to all plant lovers. Also, those who are very advanced in their knowledge. I will purchase a copy for my mum who is very advanced in her abilities to maintain indoor and outdoor plants, she will love it, I'd also love a copy just because I'd like the book to have on my book shelf. Five wonderful stars from me, very glad to have found it thank you to the author and Netgalley for the review copy.

This beautiful book is incredibly informative even for a novice planter like myself. The pages provide all sorts of knowledge from positioning the plants, watering them, and even potential dangers to it and how to ameliorate them. I discovered some great new plants I can't wait to try putting in my home. It would make a lovely gift for a plant loving friend.

Love this book, with over 40 potential house plants to grow indoors. This book gives information on do and don'ts, which plants can tolerate some inside time to give pleasure at flowering, and others which can live indoor all their life. The information and photographs are really good and easy to understand.
I must admit that when I look at the book a though that some of the plants would not grow indoors, and the book acknowledges the fact but also explains ways to modify ones perception of the word houseplant.
Lots of information, lots to think about especially, these days that many have not got the use of outdoor a garden space, but want to enjoy greenery and flowers inside our homes.
