This is another of these coffee table books featuring places we all might want to visit at some time in our lives. There’s some crossover here with a another book I recently read and reviewed from the same publisher and author (Wonders of the World) but the focus here is on where we might want to visit for that dream holiday or adventure.

The first thing to say is that the photographs are gorgeous! There are actually very few places featured here that I’ve visited, just a handful of European destination and a couple of obvious spots in California and Australia. For the most part I found myself scribbling away trying to compile a short-list of future destinations from the stack of options here.

If you like dreaming of fantastic places to visit or you’re thinking of planning a trip but you don’t know where to go then this book is a great place to start. Or just have it handy to browse through from time to time, it might just spark a desire to visit somewhere you’ve never previously heard of – it did for me.

in this book packed with stunning photography my stand out faves were the blue lagoon, ice caves and northern luights in Iceland as well as, Hawaii and Florida, the Seychelles and Mt Fuji, it's hard to believe these beautiful places exist!

With great detailed captions and gorgeous photography encapsulating the areas being discussed, it will certainly invite you to learn about the world and where you may want to travel to.

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

Wow! Who knew there were so many places I needed.to see?? This collection of photos and short descriptions of the areas will make your list of places you want to see in your lifetime grow like crazy! The photos are beautiful! I was getting jealous until I realized the photos are from many different photographers. Not only will this book inspire travel, it will allow you to do some armchair travelling when you can't leave home.

Thank you Amber Books Ltd and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

"Great Destinations of a Lifetime" certainly lives up to its title! The amazingly beautiful photos give a glimpse of each destination's attributes and the snippets of information are interesting and informative. This book is a great way to "travel" the world without the expense, inconvenience, and jetlag of actually shifting from your sofa! Read with a pen and notepad - you'll want to make a list of places to visit!

My thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advance copy to review. This review is entirely my own, unbiased, opinion.

This book is nothing new if you own any greatest places to go travel books, but during these lockdown times it’s perfect. The pictures are stunning and transport you to a different place, they let you daydream about travelling and you might even add some places to your travel bucket list.
Mostly I just love looking at the pictures, they relax me.

Lockdown and quarantine leaving you feeling restless and irritable? While we still can’t really travel, we can explore the world from our own homes in this gorgeous book. Broken down by continents, Martin shows readers some of the most extraordinary places on earth, with snippets of information about each location. A book do immerse yourself in, or dip into when you’re feeling confined, this is the cure for your lockdown blues

Great Destinations of a Lifetime is a wonderful book of travel destinations. The pictures are breath taking. Each picture has a captain that tells you about the landmark pictured, the town, and sometimes the people. Great Destinations of a Lifetime was a good read to find new destinations and learn more about destinations I was already planning on going to when traveling is safe again. I’ve always wanted to go to Costa Rica and the pictures made me want to go more. The pictures of Santorini reminded me of a great trip. I added some new places to my bucket list like Lake Malawi, Pamukkale, Turkey, and the Batad Rice Terraces.

I highly recommend Great Destinations of a Lifetime to anyone that likes to travel.

I do love dipping into this publisher's selection of wonderfully pictorial, themed guides to the world – but then I don't pay admission. Nobody does here, either, for you get to travel the planet in this instance, picking out the crème de la crème, and never have to put your hand in your pocket. This is great for a Covid-locked world, therefore, but it's pretty good even when we can travel. It seemed to me the captions were longer and more detailed than the norm for the format, but the principal things are the images, and these – as much as the changing Microsoft load-up screen is doing to replicate them – are well worth a browse. Just for the record, I have seen 24 of the specific contents in the flesh – but whatever your experience of global travel is, this deserves a look. And that counts double, as this is a review of the full-sized, proper coffee-table hardback, whose dimensions are measured in feet, not the six by four inches of the inevitable paperback reprint further on down the line.
