Two childhood friends discover that love—and family—can be found in unconventional ways in this timely, moving novel from the USA TODAY bestselling author of the “beautifully Southern, evocative Peachtree Bluff series” (Kristin Harmel, internationally bestselling author of The Winemaker’s Wife).

Recently separated Amelia Buxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker—and dredging up old wounds in the process.

Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.

Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Buxton Beach. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family—the one you’re born into and the one you choose—is always closer than you think.

From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind.

Y'all.

So I had never read a book by Kristy Woodson Harvey before. However, I am a member of a bookclub on Facebook for fans of Lowcountry fiction, and I see her name thrown about quite a lot among the greats like Dorothea Benton Frank and Mary Alice Monroe (and Elin Hilderbrand, who might write about Nantucket but still deserves the same accolades). So when I saw she had a new book coming out, I decided to go for it, and I am SO glad I did.

I loved this book with my whole heart. I started reading it last night when I went to bed, and I basically spent the entire day today glued to my Kindle, unable to put it down. I am going to add all of Ms. Harvey's other works to my reading list because I can't get enough. Between the beautiful characters and the coastal setting, this had enough to pull me in; it was the engrossing story that held my attention from the first page to the last. I found myself rooting for the characters throughout. Do yourself a favor...if you love a Lowcountry story, check out this author and check out this book.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review. This book grabbed me from the first page and I could not put it down. I liked this story a lot. Very detailed and interesting about best friends and how their past relationships place a huge barrier between their feelings for one another. I am a southerner- so a southern setting is always a hook to reel me in. Bravo for a touching and moving story concerning IVF and the effect the process has on prospective parents. Well done!

Another really good book from Kristy Woodson Harvey, one of the Fab Five from Friends and Fiction. I've read all of her books and while this one is quite different from the others, it still has Kristy's writing and storytelling style.

I feel that she portrayed the subject of "abandoned" eggs realistically, actually I had never given it much thought as I'm not of child bearing age nor did I have any problems with infertility. The storyline was very southern, family driven and sad at times but the sensitive subject matter was handled quite well.

The friendship between the mothers and also the main characters was delightful and makes me wish I had that good of a friend.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It's nice to read a book about people that are flawed but have the best of intentions and there weren't any really mean or not nice people, so that was refreshing.

Kristy Woodson Harvey is one of the beach fiction authors I look forwarding to reading each spring/summer. This was a good book. The description sounded super interesting. I liked the alternating chapters to see more into each character. The family/neighbor dynamics was great! my only complaint was it was too long in the middle. It seemed very drug out. I ended up actually skimming the last 20% as I was just getting sick of it. Good ending but i think predictable.

Wow, Kristy Woodson Harvey does it again! She is one of my favorite authors so I was very excited to be given an advance copy of her newest novel. This is the perfect, easy beach read that will have you feeling all the feels; heartbreak, loss, and a generous helping of southern charm. I especially loved all the characters in this book because they were authentic and relatable. Get yourself a copy, one for your mom, all your friends and basically everyone you know! Seriously, so good. Thank you to NetGalley, Kristy Woodson Harvey and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve been wanting to read a book by Kristy Woodson Harvey for a while, and I’m so glad I did, yet so sad it’s taken this long! I need to read the rest of her books after reading this one! I loved this book! This is everything I always want in a book! The storyline had me hooked from the beginning, and I felt like I knew the characters as if they were my own friends and family. This is good writing.

I will read anything Kristy Woodson Harvey writes! This was a beautiful book that had me tearing up and chuckling throughout. I loved the multiple POVs, character development, and plot line. I am a sucker for a best friend to lover trope and this one's challenges were eye-opening.

Wonderful book! Two childhood friends reconnect after many years. They both have suffered loss and heartache. Will they be able to heal? This was so much more than a story of romance! I loved it!

I just finished KWH’s most recent novel - Under the Southern Sky and I am wowed! Kristy Woodsen Harvey continues to evolve with each book she writes.

While her Southern Family themes remain a constant throughout her stories, Under the Southern Sky takes on more complicated story lines which are written with such delicacy readers are left literally falling in love with the two main characters.

I said it after I devoured her last novel and I will say it again - I will be first in line to pre-order anything Kristy Woodsen Harvey writes! She is my favorite Southern Fiction writer and one of my most favorite Female authors as well!

I would give this more than 5 starts if I was able!

I have never read anything by this author but discovered her through friends and fiction. This book was such a fantastic book! I felt like I was peeling back an onion as I learned new things about each of the characters.

The intertwining of the main characters Greer, Parker and Amelia was so much fun! It definitely kept me turning the pages to see how the puzzle is pieced together.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The views are my own.
