Oh wow. I just finished this book and just needed to sit a minute and let it all soak in. This book starts out pretty straightforward - a story of Amelia and Parker, who have known each other since birth and have had to endure their own personal tragedies. Amelia learns that Parker and his late wife had frozen embryos before she died, and they reestablish contact. What follows, however, is a wonderful story of several unexpected twists and turns. Amelia and Parker are beautifully drawn main characters, and their supporting cast is richly developed and fascinating in their own right. It is quite obvious how much love the author has for the Southern coastal region and its people. You will not want to put this book down and you definitely won't want it to end. Woodson Harvey just keeps getting better. 4.5 stars.

This is one of the better romance novels that I have read. The characters are rich, different, individual, and likable. The settings are enjoyable and the story takes lots of neat twists and turns. Kristi Woodson Harvey weaves a masterful tale of a threesome with multiple narrators into a romance. However, one of the characters is dead. The dead wife leaves her thoughts in journal entries and letters for her widowed husband who after three years is still devoted to her memory. HIs former next-door neighbor, once a woman of his dreams re-enters his life and provides interest and a rekindling of romance. But is she ready to settle down? She has a few secrets of her own. A relationship unknown to the widowed husband with his dead wife and a new love interest are just a few of the surprises to unwrap in this highly entertaining read. You won't want to put it down and more than that you won't want it to end. Thanks to #UndertheSouthernSky#NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I have always enjoyed Kristy Woodson Harvey books and this one didn’t disappoint.
Amelia and Parker are childhood friends and neighbors and their mom's are best friends. Both come back home for an annual family get together with broken hearts - Amelia ending a marriage and Parker still grieving an adored wife who he loses to cancer. Once upon a time, Parker had saved Amelia's life and she feel's honor-bound to help him have his dead wife's babies. Of course, things get complicated because unbeknownst to Amelia, Parker used to have a crush on her.
Under the Southern Sky is a wonderful story about overcoming your tragic past and moving forward.

Recommend this wonderful love story to your readers who enjoy Elin Hilderbrand, Mary Alice Monroe, Nancy Thayer, and even Mary Kay Andrews. It is quintessentially Southern, and very engaging. The main character is a talented journalist who finds herself suddenly without a job or a significant other and goes back home to her ancestral family home. There, she gets reacquainted with her childhood friend, who has recently lost his wife to cancer. Before she died, however, they managed to save four frozen embryos. What develops from there is a great romance that is definitely in the category of heartwarming!

I am a huge fan of Kristy Woodson Harvey, and absolutely LOVED the Peachtree Bluff series.
I am, however, struggling with this one.
The overall story is very interesting and the book itself is well-written. I did fly through it, because I wanted to find out what happened next.

I do have several criticisms- why did it seem like Amelia gave up everything and Parker gave up nothing? This frustrated me to no end. Amelia was very clear from the beginning of the book that she didn't want to get married again or have children. She was devoted to investigative journalism. Then apparently she has a personality transplant and wants to get married and have babies right.this.second. I just felt that, coupled with the career change, were not consistent with the character in the first 2/3 of the novel.
Why did Amelia and Parker keep so many secrets from one another at the end of the book? If the other hadn't discovered them, would they have remained buried? Yikes.
Being a lifelong resident of Illinois, I'm not sure if it's different in the south, but why is it okay to constantly shame people who don't want to have children? As someone who made that decision, it just rubbed me the wrong way throughout the book.

While I did like the book, I thought the Peachtree Bluff series was better and would recommend those over this novel.

You will want to sit with all the emotions this book conjures up for days after you finish it. I could not put it down. Kristy Woodson Harvey captivated me from page 1. The story is beautifully told and stays with you long after you close the book. I cannot say enough good things about the story of Greer, Parker, Amelia, and the embryos that were deemed abandoned.. You can feel the characters with each turn of events. I highly recommend Under the Southern Sky. I can't wait to see what Kristy Woodson Harvey comes out with next.

In this crazy world we live in now more than ever I am appreciating fantastic novels and this is a true MUST READ!! This is my favorite book from Kristy Woodson Harvey!

This book follows Amelia and Parker. Amelia is a journalist working on a story about IVF embryos and discovers they belong to her childhood friend, Parker. Parker and his wife that's passed are on a list for abandoned embryos and Amelia has to tell him. That discussion turns the page for their relationship.

Flashbacks are shown from Parker's wife through diary entries that just broke my heart.

This story is emotional and since I have gone through IVF and am unable to conceive this book just hit home for me. Sadly, I was able to relate to a lot of the emotions and feelings in the book.

I enjoy southern fiction and Harvey is one of my favorite authors to read in the genre.

Thanks to Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. Whenever I see Kristy Woodson Harvey has a new book out, it is one I will immediately purchase. I don't even need to read what it is about-I know it will be good. With Under the Southern Sky her streak continues!
This book has all the things that make it a great "southern" read: beautiful location, nosy, interfering moms and neighbors, and the sweet boy next door. In this book we have Amelia Buxton who has written her biggest magazine article to date about her amazing marriage. However, the day it publishes she finds out her marriage wasn't all it seems to be. To help her cope, Amelia plunges into a new story about IVF embryos that have been abandoned. When she gets a sneak peak at the names on the list, she is shocked to see the name of her good friend and neighbor growing up, Parker. Parker has recently lost his wife and in his grief has forgotten about the embryos. The decision of what to do is the journey of this book. Kristy writes so beautifully and her characters draw you in and stay with you long after the book. This is a must read!

Kristy Woodson Harvey has outdone herself. Under the Southern Sky is her best book yet. The interlocking story of Amelia,Parker and Greer spans years of relationships, hard decisions and love. I so enjoyed the seaside setting, the relationships and the stories behind them. Learning about how people and their embryos exist gave me a heartfelt understanding of the love that goes into decisions and desires to have children. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC copy - It’s a perfect story, a real story that will grab you immediately. Put it on your TBR shelf immediately.

Kristy Woodson Harvey never disappoints her readers and this is another fantastic book from her. I've been a loyal fan since her first book and she is the #1 southern fiction author that I recommend to my friends. She always tells a fantastic story from a southern perspective with lots of salty ocean air in the background.

Amelia and Parker were best friends growing up in Cape Carolina. Years later, Amelia's marriage has just broken up and she is in jeopardy of losing the job she loves as a reporter. Parker lost the love of his life to cancer and has been unable to move forward with his life for three years. When Amelia is researching an article about frozen embryos, she discovers that there are embryos for Parker and his wife that are considered to be abandoned and will soon be destroyed. Parker had forgotten about the embryos in his grief and decides that he wants to find a surrogate so that he can have a baby to remind him of his late wife. Telling Parker about the embryos brings Parker and Amelia back into contact with each other at a time in their lives that they are both grieving and trying to move forward. Can they help comfort each other as they attempt to move forward in their lives?

I loved the characters in this novel - they were both well written and very real - people that we know in our normal lives - even as they were faced with a huge moral question involving frozen embryos. This is a beautiful written story about love and loss, family and friendship. And the reminder that family is more than sharing blood - it is also made up the people you love and care about.

This is Southern Fiction at its best written by one of the best authors currently writing. You absolutely don't want to miss Under the Southern Sky!

Overall, a well developed story with engaging characters.
A story that will pull at your heartstrings as Amelia and Parker figure out what direction their friendship is going to take them. Will their lifetime friendship bring them happiness in the the romance aspect?
The story is full of southern charm, second chances, love, friendship, family and intriguing secrets.

Some stories are so beautiful, it doesn't feel like a review could do it the justice it deserves. This book is one of those, If I could give this book ten stars I would! Amelia and Parker grew up next-door to each other in the charming southern town of Cape Carolina. When a story she is researching brings Amelia to Parker's doorstep, and their lives will never be the same. Told through multiple character POV's, Kristy Woodson Harvey weaves this seamless tale of life, loss, family and love. I highly recommend this book to anyone who reads women's fiction.
