Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title. While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

Thanks,

DON'T LOOK by Alexandra Ivy. I did enjoy this story - the mystery and the suspense certainly held my attention. I enjoyed that there is a lot of "bad guy" action and Ms. Ivy did a great job of keeping the reader at bay. I had many theories as to who the villain was and kept changing my mind throughout. I did find the two main characters, Kir and Lynne, ok. Nothing was wrong with them but I didn't feel the overwhelming connection that they apparently had. I also had a bit of trouble with the roles of detectives they were playing, having no experience. But, overall, I did enjoy this mystery with its suspense and danger throughout. (Received ARC from NetGalley for honest review)

There’s a serial killer in town and he has a list with the initials of his victims. A list that the former sheriff, Rufus Jansen, managed to get his hands on, but because he’s now an alcoholic no one believes him. Just the ramblings of an old drunk even if he was well-respected in the past. Then bodies start dropping in the snow and it’s up to his son, Kir, and the local vet, Dr. Lynne Gale, to make people listen before the killer gets to the last initials on the list - Gale’s.

This is a decent chiller for a dark winter’s night. Or, like, anytime, really. But yeah, it’s creepy how the killer leaves his victims naked in the snow. Yeeee. The plot is decent and I’m kept guessing, but the romance is just meh. I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong about it, I’m just not feeling it. Plus, it seems to slow the pace down in spots but that could just be me. Overall though, it’s a suspenseful thriller that will keep you guessing until the end.

The book was okay, there weren’t any twists and turns that truly surprised me. Sadly thrillers need to be extremely unique these days to surprise audiences

Don’t Look by Alexandra Ivy was a very interesting start of a new series that I really enjoyed the first book in. The serial killer in this book was twisted and had some serious issues in their mind with the people they were killing.
I really enjoyed the story and the plot and the two main characters and the heat between them. Even though the author threw a lot of suspects at the reader for who the killer was it was not not as shocking as it could have been but shouted of the crazy things that they used for their reasons for why they did what they did were priceless.
Don’t Look gets four out of five stars and I am looking forward to reading more in the series.

This book was ok nothing really stood out to me.
The book did keep me guessing on who the killer was. There was one point in the story that made me think that it was the person that it turned out to be.
Although I was really starting to think it was the sheriff, she was a very unlikable character.

Did I guess the killer? No I didn't which makes this a win for me!

Would definitely recommend this to friends who read mystery/thriller books with a side of romance.

2.5 stars. It was slow moving for me. The MC's were likable enough, but some of the pick up lines were a bit corny. The killer was somewhat of a surprise for me, which made me round up from 2 to 2.5 stars.

Left review on Goodreads.

Was not able to read the entirety of the book and cannot give an accurate or overall rating/review . As a librarian for a big library system, we most likely have a copy of this item. I will look forward to reading it in future since I am sure I will.

Kir Jansen returns to Pike, Wisconsin to bury his father, the long-time sheriff of the small town. While packing up his father's house he comes to the conclusion that his father's musing may hold more substance than he believed. And someone he's known for years is in danger. Lynne Gale is determined to keep up with her father's reputation and skill as a vet, but suddenly Kir is here and he's adamant that she's the target of a serial killer. Never did they dream that it would be murder that would bring them together.

I enjoyed reading this book. I had many suspects but none of them were the killer. My favorite characters are King the dog, Bernardine, and Rita King.

I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

This is the first book in Alexandra Ivy's Pike, Wisconsin series. It begins with a woman's naked bodybeing discovered in the snow. All that she is wearing is a crimson scarf. As the weeks pass more victims are discovered and the area begins to realize that the killer has a list.

The main female protagonist is Dr. Lynne Gale who has followed in her father's footsteps and become a vet. She is surprised when Kir Jansen, the son of a former town sheriff returns to Pike, Wisconsin to tell her that she is in danger. She can't understand why anyone would target her, but she does believe that someone is hunting the women of Pike.

This book has exciting twists and turns as Lynne and Kir work to discover who the killer is. The book will keep you enthralled and on the edge of your seat. The characters have many dimensions and the dialogue is thought provoking. I would recommend this novel to people who enjoy reading Rebecca Zanetti's Deep Ops series or the books of Linda Howard.

I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley for an honest review of the materials.

Don’t Look by Alexandra Ivy is the first book in the romantic suspense Pike, Wisconsin series. The city of Pike, Wisconsin is the common theme of this series with the main characters changing from book to book. With the characters changing in each book in this series they can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so.

Kir Jansen has just returned to Pike, Wisconsin to bury his father who was the sheriff of the small town. While Kir is back in the small town a body is discovered and Kir begins to suspect that his father may have been right and their town is being targeted by a serial killer. When it’s found that this killer is following a list for his victims Kir tracks down Dr. Lynne Gale who is on the list. Kir and Lynne has known each other in high school and he vows now that he will protect her from the killer.

Alexandra Ivy is not a new author to me, I’ve actually read several of her many books and have enjoyed them. I liked that Don’t Look opened up this series with the romance being a second chance for a couple that had known each other so it was easy to believe they fell into step with one another so easily. And do not think this was all hearts and flowers as the suspense side of the story certainly gave me a sadistic serial killer to track down right along with the characters. This first book was definitely engaging so while it’s not exactly an exotic locale I’ll definitely head back to Pike, WI for book two.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

A serial killer, two childhood friends turned lovers, and one small town—what more could you ask for in an all new series from best-selling author Alexandra Ivy. I began my love affair with Ms. Ivy’s writing in her paranormal world, but when she branched into these romantic suspense novels I jumped at the chance to read them and have never looked back. This new series is set in the small town of Pike Wisconsin, a little town with a lot of big secrets it seems. Former Sherriff Jansen has died and his son, Kir, has returned to town to lay his to rest and handle his affairs, but he runs into the sweet and sexy town veterinarian, Lynne Gale. When he decides to try to strike up a friendship with Lynne, they are quickly both pulled into a dangerous and deadly game of cat and mouse. A serial killer is on the loose, one who’s identify Kir’s father had been trying to uncover for decades, and he has Lynne in his crosshairs. As the bodies continue to pile up, Kir and Lynne are fighting against time, the lack of evidence, and the local law enforcement, all of whom think they are either to blame or are interfering with the hunt for the killer. The closer they get to the killer, and to one another, the more they have to come to trust and depend on one another, or Lynne might well be the killer’s big finale. This story was intriguing in many ways, with a lot of suspense, and intrigue as we watched the killer strike again and again, despite Kir and Lynne’s best effort to thwart him, but the connection between Kir and Lynne developed beautifully and you could watch them fall in love as they grew closer together. Kir has a lot of baggage from his youth, his relationship with his father, and the choices he made to leave his hometown, but coming back and reconnecting with Lynne is opening his eyes and making him see that he can chose to change. I enjoyed watching him find his way, flexing his mind as he investigated and of course kicking butt as they took down the killer in the end, but my favorite part of Kir’s characters was his sweetness and the way he nurtured and cared for Lynne as he saw how much she gave of herself. He truly was a man who appreciated her for the woman she was inside and out. Lynne has spent so many years wearing herself to the bone, caring for those around her and the animals in her care, that she has let taking care of herself become the least priority for her. When Kir comes into her life, she immediately tries to care for him and give him the love and support he needs, but when he reciprocates she is beyond surprised and the love that develops as they care for one another surprises her I think. She was strong, smart, and brave when faced with several unknown situations, and she never let anyone take advantage of her once she knew their secrets. I could imagine a woman like her becoming a great friend. The passion between these two was more of a slow burning fire than a bright and blazing spark, which is better to keep them warm long into the future in those freezing WI nights. I am looking forward to seeing what comes next for this small town, and seeing who falls in love next. I personally am definitely ready for another whirlwind masterpiece.
