First, the cover for this book is gorgeous. Secondly, the kid in this book, Cody, gosh he got on my nerves. That combined with the stranger danger evil grandmother plot just didn't work for me. I found it also to be very repetitive. 3 stars.

DNF - did not finish. Did not connect with story at this time but am willing to give it another go in the future. Interesting premise.

I DNF'd The Woman Outside My Door @ 35%

I loved the idea of a thriller imaginary friend story. An interesting plot line that starts off very strong in the beginning. TOO BAD IT DOESN'T LAST 'imaginery friend' is very imaginery as the reference of a woman to whom Cody keeps seeing is sprinkled in.

The 'side plot' IMO of Georgina and her husband relationship takes over the story of the thriller and mystery of this imaginery friend. I don't read cheating books and found this to be the story in this book.

I get that the FMC is going through a lot and grieving but this was up front and in my face non-stop (with no for-warning). This could have played further in the story but I did not find that the thriller and mystery of the imaginery friend was the main plot point in this book. Sadly, that is why I picked it up. There was a lot of resentment, mistrust and trauma surrounding the infidelity in this dynamic. So much so that it wasn't even the case of them working to resolve the 'imaginery friend' Cody has. It took away even that perspective of parents dealing with the scenario of an imaginary friend.

I really liked this one! I will admit around 20% when the story switched a bit, into their marriage instead of “New Granny” I thought “what is happening” but it all came together. I thought I had it figured out but I didn’t, which is always a plus for me. I loved the ending.

I think fans of Lisa Unger and Greer Hendricks/Sarah Pekkanen will like this book. I’ll definitely read another book by the author.

Thanks to the author and the publisher for the e-arc I received via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is an easy, breezy read.

Our MC is definitely a little doormat-ish and far too prone to putting herself in 'woman in jeopardy' situations, but I did like her. I also liked her son and father and hated her husband.

The mystery of it was quite good. I wasn't quite sure what was and wasn't true and I enjoyed the solution to everything.

There was one loose end (ahem 'her' ahem) that never came to a satisfactory conclusion, but it was overall an entertaining read.

It wasn't predictable, I liked the author's writing style, and I even learned something new! I definitely recommend!
This was great for when you want a shorter book that you can get through in one sitting or a weekend. Each chapter had me desperate to know more. I was disappointed in the ending enough to knock off one star.

I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked from the very beginning. A woman's young son tells her that he found a "new granny" in the park. This causes concern but as she tries to find out more her son says that he made her up. Her husband thinks she's stressed and doesn't believe her either. Things continue to be strange and she's convinced her son didn't make up "new granny".
I really liked the authors writing style. The story moved along quickly but all necessary information was included. I liked the ending and felt the story was wrapped up nicely.
I highly recommend this book!

I really enjoyed this one. Georgina and Bren have a young 6 year old son Cody, who starts talking with an imaginary friend, New Granny, after recently losing his real one, a tragedy that has devastated Georgina. While her husband thinks it’s normal, Georgina is terrified and afraid for her family, similar to when she had post partum depression. Is New Granny real or imaginary? Let’s find out. Read in 2 evenings, fast paced, tense and surprisingly good.

This was a creepy thriller that I enjoyed! It's good to remind parents that kids tell more of the truth than we realize.

Georgina and Bren’s son, Cody, has a new, imaginary friend. He calls her “New Granny”, which is unsettling, since Georgina’s mother only recently passed away. But, Bren tries to reassure her that children grieve differently than adults, and often it includes an imaginary friend. However, in this case, Cody insists she is real and Georgina is determined to find out if this is pretend or not.

The Woman Outside My Door is a creepy book that slowly builds to a final and unexpected conclusion. It is well-written, even though it is a bit repetitive in places. I quite enjoyed the Irish setting as well and I found it to be an entertaining book. However, the ending seemed to come out of nowhere and, ultimately, it wasn’t quite as satisfying as I had hoped it would be.

For a debut novel, The Woman Outside My Door is well-done and I’m looking forward to reading more books by Rachel Ryan.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

When Georgina's son comes to her about his new friend "New Granny", she thinks "All kids have imaginary" friends, right? Something tells her that it's not just an imaginary friend. She chalks it up to her being overwhelmed after the death of her mother and her son wanting to have a granny in his life. Is that all it is, or is there really something to worry about?

Young children are playful and imaginative. They come up with little games to play with imaginary friends. But in the haunting thriller The Woman Outside My Door by author Rachel Ryan, one woman fears that her son’s new imaginary friend is something much more troubling than just pretend...

This is a psychological thriller, and I think this is my new favorite psychological thriller. This book did not have a ton of twist and turns, but the big twist and turn at the end was so big and good. This book had me guessing who and what is going to happen the whole book. Not many thrillers does that to me anymore because I have read so many thrillers. All the characters in this book had personalist of their own, and I loved that. I think if you love psychological thrillers I think you will love this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Gallery Books) or author (Rachel Ryan) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This psychological thriller had me on the edge of my seat! I devoured this book in one sitting. I loved that Georgina was an unreliable narrator. It had me questioning what was going on the entire time. I look forward to reading more from Rachel Ryan.

Kept me hooked but I kept confusing the cover with another book with similar colors and style. Great thriller and will definitely be looking for more from Rachel Ryan!

I wanted to love this book, but unfortunately, I struggled with it. It got off to a slow start and stayed slow until about 65% of the way through. Some of the plot line felt a little exaggerated and far fetched. There was a lot of back and forth about whether or not to believe Cody and while I understand that the events were important to establish a timeline, it dragged on and felt tedious; I didn't, but it made me want to skim over a few chapters to keep moving along. I found myself going back and forth trying to determine if Bren was a gaslight or if Georgina was an unreliable narrator. The actions and reactions of Bren and Georgina also felt over the top at times, a couple wouldn't make these far reaching, devastating assumptions without a stronger basis. While the storyline did pick up around the 65% mark, and I was more engrossed in reading, it felt a little too late. While falling in line with the rest of the writing style, the ending felt overly dramatic and thus a little unbelievable.

This was an ok domestic suspense that just missed the mark for me. Read quickly and lightly, so could be a good beach/pool read. Sometimes the story and characters seemed a bit surface level and the first part dragged. The second part picked it up though, which helped me stick with it Thank you to the publisher for the ARC!
