What a great book. This one grabbed me from the beginning. And was such a great ending
Trigger warning it is about child abuse.
The characters were all well written and drew me into their stories.

Thanks to the Author the publishers and NetGalley for an early review of this book.

Thanks NetGalley, AmazonCrossing and Ruth Lillegraven for an ARC to review.
Scandinavian authors are a treasure, their stories are intense and original. Publication date on 9 March 2021, you don't want to miss this one. Excellent writing and translation. I haven't detected the inconsistency I always do reading translated books.
Clara and Henrik are a successful married couple each contributing to their society in their chosen careers. Their apparent calm life starts falling apart when a murder occurs in the hospital where Henrik works. A young boy dies shortly after being admitted and the staff strongly suspects his bully of a father, afterwards the father was shot to death in the same night in the hospital's prayer room. Parents of abused children starts getting killed in a pattern.
The story is told from different point of views, going back and forth in time. It's a fast intense read that might be difficult to endure as it contains child abuse and mental health issues. The plot is clever and I personally was rooting for the murderer no matter how wrong that sounds!
I'm definitely seeking other books by Ruth Lillegraven and highly recommend this one.

This would’ve been a 5 star read for me, but I unfortunately had a hard time getting into it and actually had to set to side and try again! Once I got into it or the slower paced beginning was finished; I got hooked. It had all the elements u crave in a thriller, lots of thrills, chills, and a couple great twists and shocks! I think most will enjoy, especially if they can get through the beginning! I think the writing was excellent, characters developed properly, and unique! I would highly recommend, as I do think it’s well worth slugging through the beginning, as the rest is mind blowing at times!

Will buzz around and use lower Amazon reviewer number on release date!

All I can say is that I'm mad at Ruth Lillegraven because she completely burst my bubble. The story turns out not as you like it but twists around making you change who you thought murdered all those people. The story is exciting and we are involved with everyone as characters and follow them throughout their journeys whether it's good or darker than we like. I can say that until Ruth gave it away near the middle of the book I was really lost. She makes up for it with planting evidence during one of the murders. It is a good book to read but you have to be willing to change. I liked it.

Clara and Henrik are married and living in Oslo. Henrik witnesses a young child dying due to child abuse; Lara in her gov't job tries to pass severe legislation on child abuse. Secrets from Lara's past are hinted at and culminate in a fantastic ending.

Thank you NetGalley and AmazonCrossing for the eARC.
This is a good book, well-written, concise and well translated. But I am in two minds about it: I started out liking it, but didn't like the chapters on Norwegian politics (I'm so tired of politics!) and the details of the criminal case against Henrik.
The story mainly centers around Clara and Henrik, a successful couple with young male twins. They've drifted apart, mainly living separate lives. When a young boy, severely beaten, is treated by Henrik, a doctor, he's devastated that he couldn't save him. The boy's father is shot to death. More abuser parents are murdered
The theme of the book is child abuse and mental health and the quest to bring parental abusers into the limelight. It's a grim subject, delicately handled with no gratuitous violence.

EVERYTHING IS MINE
BY RUTH LILLEGRAVEN

This was a psychological thriller that Diane Oatley did a tremendous job translating into English from Norwegian where it was published in 2019. I read it straight through in one sitting it was that interesting. The plot was suspenseful and the characterizations were brilliant. Clara was a calculating and cunning wife to Henrik who was also the same somewhat in the end. They both share two lovable little boys. The setting takes place for the most part in Oslo but it also takes place in Western Norway.
In the prologue Clara has gone to see her stepfather on a day of early dismissal from school. She tells him that she wants him to take her to the hospital to see her mother. She really has a deadly plan for revenge against him and he has been drinking and she has plotted his demise because he beat her younger brother Lars to death. She lives with her father whom she is close too and also blames her mother for her brother's death who claimed to be outside doing laundry. This happened in 1988 and Clara gets away with it. Clara works for the Ministry of Norway in present day.

Henrik has a job in the hospital as a doctor. One night while he was working a man and wife bring in an unconscious child. It is clear to Henrik and the staff that the child has been physically abused when another pediatrician who knew the father growing up was physically abusive then. This other female pediatrician is having an affair with Henrik and she keeps a gun in one of her desk drawers. The father who beat his son is told that his son is on life support and he asks where the hospital chapel is so he can go and pray. He is found dead and a woman and man detective show up. Somebody is killing abusive parents but who?

This is a disturbing novel and switches multiple points of view and goes back in forth in time. I didn't quite catch on to the explosive ending until I was reading it. The reader knows who is killing and it is a very chilling story. I am glad that I read it and do warn that it is not for everybody. It is unique and I would only recommend this to those that have the stomach to read about serial killers and child abuse. It is a very dark book but I gave it five stars because I was never bored and it kept me glued to the pages. However, I could not read such dark subject matters everyday. Now I am ready for something much lighter. This is an international bestseller.

I really enjoyed this book! It was interesting, thrilling, disturbing - everything you want a psychological thriller to be! It was very detailed and descriptive but in a way that enhanced the reading experience. It was easy to get stuck into and the characters were all very interesting. There are some very heavy topics throughout this book, but they were explored in a sensitive, though-provoking way. It was told from multiple perspectives, which allowed the story to unfold in a natural way. There are twists and turns all the way through. I would definitely recommend this book.

Scandinavian mysteries and thrillers have been a huge hit for many years now, so since I haven't read many of them, it was definitely time to change this for a thriller freak like me.

Turns out, not only did I love this book for it's truly suspenseful story and excellent writing (bravo to the translator), I also loved getting the cultural bits of a life in Norway. You can pick up so much culture through the books you read, even if you're not specifically looking for it - this book really feels like a proof of this. From the way people from various parts of Norway portray each other (Oslo vs rural areas), politics, healthcare to relationships.

This book takes us into the life of Clara and Henrik. A seemingly normal marriage, they live in one of the most elegant neighborhoods in Oslo and have two children. He comes from a wealthy family and is a pediatrician at the hospital, she comes from a humble family and is an advisor in the Ministry of Justice. But they both hide dark secrets, and when Henrik is arrested for a murder, everything in the life of this marriage falls apart and some secrets begin to surface...

It's a dark thriller with a sensitive subject matter: child abuse. It is nonetheless really well done, and it left me totally shocked.

4 stars

I read the Kindle edition.

Surprises aplenty await the reader in this novel by Ruth Lillegraven. Diane Oatley did a wonderful job translating.

Clara and Henrik live a relatively quiet life in a beautiful house with their twin boys. Henrik is an emergency room pediatrician at a huge hospital. One night an angry father brings in an unconscious young boy saying that he fell out of a tree. He has a major brain bleed, and the surgeons cannot save him. Henrik knows it was child abuse. On his way to the chapel to pray, the father is shot to death.

Clara is an up and coming politician. Her latest bill that deals with guidelines protecting abused children, has been scuttled by her bosses. She is devastated,

Henrik and Clara's marriage is getting rocky. They have been married for ten years and the spark is lost. Clara is at work all the time; Henrik becomes the primary caretaker of their boys.

The police interview the staff at the hospital about the murdered man, but everyone denies any knowledge. They become suspicious of one of the nurses and Henrik. Henrik is arrested and held for four days.

More murders occur. What is going on? It can't be Henrik, he was in custody.

When the killer is revealed, I was floored. Then I thought about the introductory chapter in the book. Oh, yes...

This is a well written and plotted novel . I enjoyed reading it and the descriptions of the countryside and city were both enlightening and refreshing. I liked Henrik – mostly. Clara I didn't. (But then I have a “problem” with most politicians...) I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Lillegraven.

I want to thank NetGalley and AmazonCrossing for forwarding to me a copy of this very good book for me to read, enjoy and review.
