I was having a hard time writing my review on my blog for this book, because it's the second in a series. I went back and read the first book, and REALLY loved it! The second one continues the story, so I'll do my best to review without spoilers.

In the first book, Bobby Ether has been kidnapped and sent to a school for other kids like him, The Jade Academy. In this school, the kids are learning to control their connection to anima. Anima is the power that resides in everything on earth, from animals to plants, to each other. Those with their power under control "graduate," and are never heard from again.

Bobby's parents were in a car accident the night he was kidnapped, and he's been told they were killed. He has no reason not to stay at Jade Academy, except for the fact that he can feel that things aren't quite right.

Bobby must learn to control his connection to Anima, and along with his friends, discover the sinister secrets behind the power in Jade Academy.

I thought both books were REALLY good. Temple of Eternity follows the story of Bobby, this time in Guatemala.

I've actually been to Guatemala, so the descriptions of the scenery and everything seemed a little far fetched, but I couldn't fault the story itself. The author is amazing at spinning the perfect young adult story that has all the criteria: relatable characters, adventuresome story, and villains we all love to hate.

This book also had some pretty cool twists that I did not see coming. The only complaint I had was that one of the characters said "honest to goodness" quite a few times, which got under my skin. I think the object was to give her a younger feeling, but I never really saw it. Most of the kids are around 16, but some don't feel that old. I even forgot Bobby was supposed to be 16.

Both books in the series gave me Percy Jackson feels, which was great, because I loved all of those books. If you love Percy Jackson type adventures, you will love these books. I can't wait to see where the next one takes me! I look forward to reading it!

Review: TEMPLE OF ETERNITY

The exciting roller-coaster pace of Book 1, BOBBY ETHER AND THE JADE ACADEMY, continues as the evil organization CORE manipulates the monks of the mountain top Jade Academy, in order to capture the students and their special abilities. Highly enjoyable for fans of Harry Potter or Narnia. YA age, but great fun for adult readers.

Love the characters and heart in this book. Excellent adventure into Mayan rainforest and tie-ins to Fountain of Youth - think this series will really resonate with readers of Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. Had read first book in the series already (Bobby Ether and the Jade Academy) so it was nice to see continuity and growth of characters, especially Bobby and Jinx. Looking forward to the next installment!
