Admittedly, it was the cats in the title and on the cover that originally drew me to this book, but the description kept me interested. I loved the comparison of women to cats and men to dogs.

The title and the cover of the book are both really intriguing. As soon as I saw this book on Netgalley, I was curious to know what was inside the book. And to be honest, it was all worth it.
This book was worth listening to and you are going to love the narration.

Princess Fuzzypants here: I am still not sure how I feel about audiobooks. I know for some it is, shall we say, the cat’s whiskers. But I find the voice and intonations of the narrator can often impact how well I like or dislike a book. So I do try to look at it as I would a written piece. I confess I was not thrilled with the narrator in this audiobook but I did find the material quite interesting.

The author approaches the differences between men and women as the differences between cats and dogs. The women are, by the way, the cats. In a rather straightforward, occasionally profane manner, she encourages women to embrace la difference. Rather than trying to adapt and change in order to be accepted and loved, be who you are, whatever that might be and see where the chips fall. It does not, however, try to say that one sex is right or the other wrong. Instead she says men and women are opposites who fit together. While being a feminist tome on one hand, it is also a fresh way of understanding what each wants and needs.

It presents its arguments in a cogent and compelling manner. Four purrs and two paws up.

I have not read this author's first book, but I definitely do not need to now. It felt like every other sentence was the author restating/quoting something from the previous book. I thought the description sounded super intriguing and funny, but it fell super flat. I hated the narration of the audiobook. And I felt like the author was trying to have a "you do you, no judgement" attitude, but it felt super judgemental. I gave this book 2.5 stars but rounded up to 3.

Kara King is a relationship and dating expert known for her previous books, and while I haven't read them, I was excited to dive into her new release. The premise of this book is really appealing: women can use the feline wisdom to advance their dating lives. I liked a lot of its messages, and some of the main takeaways include the fact that women do need to be very picky when choosing a mate and that we should let men pursue us first. And by no means should we ever change into the person a guy wants us to be!

I LOVED the narration of this audiobook. The narrator totally nailed the intonations and keeping the listened hooked with her playful and clear voice. It was a great listen for me while I was stretching on my yoga mat.

There were, however, some issues I disagreed with. It felt like in some parts, the author was setting women up against each other while in others, she encourages us to keep together. She also makes women sound like some mysterious, mystical things rather than simply humans who want to be treated with respect.

Cats Don't Chase Dogs // by Kara King // narrated by Romy Nordlinger

I struggled a little with ratings this one. I was amused by the description and was going in with a good attitude but sadly it just didn't really leave me that excited with it. It felt more like a 2.5 stars but I prefer rounding up rather than going down, so here we are. I do want to say though that I really liked the narrator. She did an excellent job and had the perfect voice and attitude for this book.

While there were a lot of things I agreed with and I enjoyed how she didn't hold back in terms of cursing and such, other things just really left me not wanting to continue the book, especially at the beginning. I did finish it though and there wasn't as much in the second half that I had issues with. I love how empowering a lot of her points were. I especially liked the section about self-defense and taking care of yourself. But it also often felt very preachy, played to a lot of old stereotypes for both men and women, and occasionally even felt like she was putting down other women, when in other parts she said us women needed to stick together. But I think my biggest issue was that "women are mystical creatures." I have never been a fan of that before and it really irked me here as well. It plays into the idea of us being so different that it can be difficult to understand us and be able to communicate and get along without exceptional experience, rather than common sense and decency. If you know to ignore the more problematic parts, then there are definitely some good tips in this book about increasing your confidence and believing in yourself but I would advise you to stay true to yourself and not play any of the games we accuse the other side playing.

This book is very empowering for women and written in such a creative way.. really enjoyed it, as much as i did her previous book.

I just could not get into this book. It is full of stereotypes and fluff. While it is well written, and the idea of women being "Cats" and men being "dogs" is kind of new, the other information really isn't.

I think certain types of women may appreciate this book, but I am not one of them.

This is a self-help book for women. It is definitely worth a read.

Men should pursue women; women would be further ahead to be a little more aloof and choosier when selecting a mate. Really wish I would have read this book 20 or 30 years ago.

If you are offended by strong language, take a chill pill. This book has a lot of swearing. But the message needs to be heard.

Okay, had I known this was the author of Power of the Pussy, I probably wouldn't have requested it. But honestly, I'm glad I didn't know in advance. It took me a bit to get into this one - seriously, could "Power of the Pussy" be mentioned a few MORE times in just a few minutes?? Once it got going, it was more interesting. The narrator did a great job. I can't say I agree with everything the author said but there is good stuff here. Dating these days is so different than when I was young. I refuse to put up with the crap that many men feel is acceptable now. The game play is annoying but the parts supporting women being who they are and not putting up with bad behavior and bad treatment from men is good. More young women need to hear this. Women should be strong and have their own opinions and it should be about finding someone to share your life with and who complements you as you truly are and not just about finding someone. Do not change yourself into who you think he wants - neither of you will be happy. Walking away is not a bad thing if the fit isn't right. I see far too much desperation these days.

I loved the narrartor of this book. She did an absolutely awesome job; her voice was nice to listen to and I am definetly looking froward to hear more book narrated by her.

The book itself was funny, putting up the old comparison of cats are like women, men are like dogs; obviousy told from the "cat's" perspective. I do not agree with everything said in that book, but it was quite enjoyable and the narrator was perfect!
