Danielle Steel is an author I’ve followed since the inception of her writing career. This particular book reminds me of her early publishing years.
She doesn’t disappoint! The characters are interesting and have a story to tell and the scenarios are realistic.
I highly recommend this book. The horrific earthquake brought many together and the author gives each ones life closure in the final conclusion.
I don’t give much info about the book in my reviews... just the important things that would peak your reading interest. Don’t miss out...

Another quick and entertaining read from Danielle Steel. Interesting storyline about how a former Hollywood star turned recluse ends up bonding with her neighbors after a massive Bay Area earthquake. As usual in a Danielle Steel book, some really preposterous things happen, but I enjoyed it. I do think that this book was even more repetitive than her usual repetitive narratives. That did get a little frustrating at times. Other than that, an enjoyable quick read. Thank you Random House/Ballantine for providing arc in exchange for honest review.

Meredith White was living as recluse shortly after the death of her son. Suddenly she had two caretakers looking after her affairs, and living in her guesthouse. It was the perfect setup. When they went shopping for her, they'd take extra. Sometimes things go missing and they blamed the new maid from the agency. But things begin to change when a massive earthquake causes Meredith to open up her home to her neighbors, suddenly she learns things about her new found friends and some startling things about her old ones that will change her life forever.

To be honest, I always thought Ms. Steel was a romance author. But from the moment I started reading, I was drawn into this amazing world. Then I got halfway into the book and BOOM! Mind blown! That is all I have to say....you'll have to read it for yourself!

Neighbors had a strong beginning but I think the ending fell flat for me. I enjoyed reading about Meredith White's life and all of the challenges she faced and the friendships built due to an earthquake. However, I felt like the las couple of chapters were rushed and there weren't much depth to them. Overall, it was a pretty good book and I would read another Danielle Steel Book.

Thank you Netgalley and Penguin Random Random House for this gifted copy.

Danielle Steel books have always been a favorite of mine. However, I must admit as I got older, I moved away from her books. However, I have come back around to reading her, and I am so glad that I did. This story was a relaxing one about an aging movie star and her neighbors and how their lives were affected by an earthquake. It reminds me of how people in my area come together and help each other after natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes. Although there are some sad parts such as death and domestic abuse, all in all, this is such a heartwarming story—of love, hope and new beginnings. It gave me “all the feels.” Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

this book was full of twists and turns. I have read alot of Danielle steele through the years and some are written great and others are just ok. But I am liking the way all the characters are intwining with one another, would definitely recommend.

Once again, I come away from a Danielle Steel book with warm and fuzzy feelings. This one briefly touched on a difficult topic, and while I would have liked her to explore it in a bit more detail, Steel weaves characters that quickly become family to one another, and tend to stick with you as well. I tend to prefer her historical based novels, but this one was probably one of the more recent ones that I have liked most. Thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to DS fans and other romance fans.

Thank you @netgalley for this ARC of Danielle Steel’s latest novel Neighbors!

Retired Hollywood icon Meredith White has been living the life of a lonely recluse since her teenage son died tragically and her husband left her for another woman. Until a San Francisco earthquake shakes her out of her cocoon. She reaches out to help the neighbors around her by letting them stay in her mansion until it’s safe to return to their homes. In doing so, she opens up her world to a life with friends and even romance. But her new friends also come with baggage of their own. An entertaining read. I give this a solid three stars.

An emotional read about how neighbors came to be friends because of an earthquake. I liked the writing in this book. It had characters that were relatable and addressed the issues of toxic relationships compared to healthy relationships. I loved how Meredith came out of her shell and became good friends with her neighbors. She was a great example of how to help others in time of need. She was especially helpful to Tyla and her children.
Something I didn't like in the book was the repeating of the same information over and over again like an obsession. It wasn't necessary.
I would recommend this book to readers that enjoy a great emotional read.

Very single one of DS’s books always come with an amazing lesson. Meredith White is a well knows actress who had it all, until she didn’t anymore, her husband left her, and her whole life is SHATTERED! She only has two caretakers who are her only friends, and she has been in hiding for more than 15 years, but these caretakers are not who they seem.

Anyway, something happens in San Francisco, an earthquake, this made Meredith for the first time in years come out from hiding and help. These neighbors don’t even know each other, and they were all just as shocked that Meredith, exists, she’s not a hermit, and she’s actually very nice.

Relationships were created between them, and I think that’s what made me love this book even more. Everyone of her neighbors have their own issues, and PLENTY of them. They all find happiness and closure even Meredith.

This was a great way to start my work week, with a great DS book, thank you and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book

Danielle Steel is at the top of her game!!!

NEIGHBORS brings us in to the home of Meredith White, a former movie star turned recluse after a tragedy brought her to her knees!

After an earthquake, Meredith opens her home and her heart to 8 people: a family of four, including a doctor, his wife and their two children. The doctor abuses his wife and the wife endures for her children! Will she say she's finally had enough? There's also a concert pianist and his live-in helper. And there is an up and coming young executive and his girl of the moment who wants more out of life than just being his 'prize.'

The thing I love about Danielle Steel books is most of the time, they are about lives we can only dream of! But that's why I love her books! They are the ultimate escape! And even though someone might have more money than an average person can dream of, people are people. They love, they hurt, they heal...…..

In Danielle Steel's "Neighbors", main character Meredith White is one of the most acclaimed Hollywood actresses of her time until a personal tragedy causes her to walk away from her career and former life. Having lost everything that mattered to her, Meredith becomes a recluse. When an earthquake hits Meredith's home, she opens her doors and heart for the first time in years. As she does so, she learns who she can trust.

This book includes a larger cast of characters than do most Steel novels. Steel adds enough complexity to each that the reader cares about their storylines, including those relating to domestic abuse (which some readers may find disturbing). Despite the many issues and characters, the book is easy to get immersed in and fans of Steel won't be disappointed.

Danielle Steel brings us another book of family, community and love with her newest release, Neighbors. When a catastrophic earthquake devastates her neighborhood, it causes recluse Meredith White to open up her home and her heart to her neighbors, as her stone home weathered the event better than others in the neighborhood.

Meredith had been keeping to her own company with her devious housekeepers for over a decade after a family tragedy, but with the building of friendships with her neighbors, she was able to find a purpose again. There are several storylines that emerge from the interconnecting lives of the characters in the book - perhaps too many. But, overall, it's a book about people finding each other and healing, which is where Steel does best.

Many thanks to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

4 1/2 STARS!

Danielle Steel is the queen of wrapping a group of characters around your heart and not letting go! With her latest release NEIGHBOR, Steel quickly delves into the past of an aging Hollywood recluse showcasing the personal tragedy that led her to close herself off from the world and into her elaborate mansion with only her trusted caretakers.

Meredith White may have been living life out of the spotlight for a decade and a half, but when an earthquake endangers her San Francisco neighborhood, she's quick to offer up her home as a sanctuary to several displaced neighbors. We're quickly thrust into a fast paced telling of recovery, healing and moving into the next stage of livelihood as turmoil thrives and forever friendships are forged. The characters are enchanting, the drama is spot on and the happily ever afters are well-deserved.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an interwoven story of friendship and life lessons with light romantic elements.
