What a strong start to Kelley Armstrong's newest genre path! I had no doubts we would get a fantastic historical edge (think back to good ol' Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden appearances in Broken and Haunted of Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series).
This book could be triggering to those mourning a loss, mostly toward the beginning! I think Armstrong depicted it exceptionally. Whether it was the ways of coping or just how empathetic characters were toward each other, it was relatable.

Hats off to proper pronouns. This is the first new book I’m reading that has a scene about pronouns and which to use.

I really enjoyed how supportive the locals were of any “strangeness” that outsiders would say something negative about. Whether Del or seeing ghosts, they seemed like a super close-knit community supporting each other in a great way. It would have been great to have had more interactions with the townies, but I’m satiated either way.

This story definitely kept me on my feet til the very end. I kept thinking through different scenarios. I was betrayed, I was in denial, I was confused, I was shocked, I was relieved…all of this and just within a few chapters.

If I had any sort of comment it’d be to describe the practice of Bronwyn trying to summon spirits and what she used and how she learned instead of glossing over that. I can understand how it’s just filler to the plot but it feels...unfinished to me without that information, though I can take from all the books I've read before and imagine what she would have done.

What an ending. I’m...emotional to say the least. And yes, tears were shed.

Full review to be published online in mid November.

A STITCH IN TIME is the first book in Kelley Armstrong's new "A Stitch in Time" series. (Needs a better series title, imo). This good mystery and romance, about a couple trapped on opposite sides of time. Bronwyn has inherited her aunt’s home which she hasn’t visited since tragedy struck when she was fifteen. She’s lived a lifetime since then, but she’s about to discover she left behind more than she knew. Bronwyn had always had a friend from another time because when she thought about him she slipped back to Victorian England. At fifteen, she convinced herself she’d imagined him and never returned. She’s about to discover her imagination is not that good. I liked William as a character, but found him to not be quite as well defined of a character. Hopefully that will be remedied as the series progresses. Good read; recommended for pnr readers and Armstrong fans.

I stayed up half the night to read this one from cover to cover, which is really all you need to know about this modern romance with a Victorian twist! Loved the mystery aspect as well, which had me guessing until the last couple of chapters. Highly recommend this book!

This was disappointing. I like Kelley Armstrong's Rockton series so I had high hopes.

A Stick in Time is a mixture of ghost story and time travel and I really wanted to fall in love with this book. Instead, I found it fine. The romance is okay. The ghost story is okay. The time travel components are okay. As this takes place after she knew she could travel to the past, I missed the fish out of water feeling of time travel books. That is the only clear problem I have with this book.

Maybe other people will fall in love this book because I can't figure out why I didn't.

Overall, not a bad story, but I struggled a bit with the ghost/time travel aspects of the story. At times was as confused as the kitten. Bronwyn inherits the old estate on the moors, and comes back after a long absence. William is from a couple of centuries back, and they interact, although at times they both thought the other was a figment of their imagination. I would recommend this one, but had a bit of trouble staying invested in the characters, but that may just be me. I liked the idea of the book.

***I dislike reviews were someone gives a one star review and stops reading a book because they didn't know there'd be LGBTQ characters. There are two secondary characters that fall into the LGBTQ category. I thought it was introduced organically into the story and felt "real". If you have issues with such characters, despite an estimated 15% of the world population falling into that category, this may not be the book for you.***

It has been decades since I've read a time traveling romance and since I've read a lot of Armstrong's other works, I was expecting either more mystery like her Rockton series or more UF like the Otherworld (though it has quite a bit of romance). Wasn't sure I wanted to continue reading, but since I got my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, and because I wasn't finding it unpleasant or boring, I finished the book.

Stitch was a fairly traditional time travel romance and didn't break any new ground for me, but the story moved along well, the characters were enjoyable and there were a few twists. I liked that Bronwyn and William met as children. It explained how well they handle their present day encounters. I also liked that they are the same age and both mature adults (38).

I would have liked Bronwyn to be a bit more active in her ghost busting and trying to figure things out. Perhaps having her involve William more.

It was a nice change of pace for me.

I loved this book, it's amazing. There's suspense as well as romance. I loved the characters and breathlessly followed every word hoping that they found a way to be together. A Great book. . #AStitchinTime #NetGalley

I’ll admit to being beyond ecstatic when I received a copy of this book. I’ve been dying to read it since I got a sneak peak at the first few chapters. I love this author and while this book was completely different than anything I’ve read from her before one of her greatest strengths is her range and flexibility as a writer. This was a fun to read mystery and romance of a couple trapped on opposite sides of time. Bronwyn has inherited her aunt’s home which she hasn’t visited since tragedy struck when she was 15. She’s lived a lifetime since then but she’s about to discover she left behind more than she knew. Bronwyn had always had a friend from another time because when she thought about him she slipped back to Victorian England. At 15 she convinced herself she’d imagined him and never returned. She’s about to discover her imagination is not that good. I cannot recommend this book strongly enough.

This is a departure from the author's usual genres The book involves time travel, mystery and romance.

Whatever the genre Ms. Armstrong is a fabulous author. I greatly enjoyed this book.

I received a free ARC from Netgalley. I am leaving my honest review.

Loved this!!! Armstrong created such a vivid world and equally vivid characters. I do love a time travel story and this one was wonderful! GoodReads has this noted as the first book in a series, I do hope that is the case as I would love to spend more time with William and Bronwyn!
