I absolutely love Blessings, Georgia and most of the people who live there. Course sometimes good people just do dumb things, I’m sure you know what I’m saying. This is a story about a family torn apart by a dumb thing. It’s also a love story about Hunt and Ava. Two people who were meant for each other, but took a sad event to bring them back together. Come join the folks in Blessings and join in their lives for a while. I think you will enjoy your visit. I can’t wait to go back again and visit for a while. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

This story begins with a dying mother and her children, minus one, all surrounding her. The missing brother hasn't been seen since he walked out of the family years ago. His siblings stole from him and he couldn't bare to be around them anymore. As Hunt's mother is dying, he arrives just in time to agree to the contents of the letter she had sent him. As the book goes on we learn more about what Hunt has been doing since he left the family and how his siblings are handling him being home. You eventually learn the big secret surrounding who stole from Hunt but it takes quite some time. The overall plot of this story is good, but I feel like the language and how the siblings speak and interact with each other fall short. It was a little hard to read because everything people said somehow resorted back to that one big secret. It was like that was the only thing keeping everyone together. I wanted more of a mystery. Overall, this story was cute but not something that I would read again.

Welcome back to Blessings, Georgia. I adore this quirky, gossipy little town filled with mostly good, kind and loyal if not incredibly nosy people! Years ago Hunt was betrayed by the people closest to him. No reason why, just told to suck it up and let it go. That he was the oldest sibling and more of a parent than brother it made the hurt that much more painful. They all committed to keeping the secret to themselves. He was done and left and made a life and career for himself. For those left behind, they all were quietly drowning in their betrayal and were mostly a sad, gray version of themselves. Deservedly so. The only one he still communicates with is his mother. When he receives a letter that she is dying and wants to see him he rushes home and is confronted with his past. He is a terrific man and only deserves good things. That is where it took a turn for me. The storyline is reminiscent of “A Rainbow Above Us”, so at first I thought I’d read the book before. Then there is his relationship with Ava. Really? Ridiculous and so incredibly unrealistic. Hunt discovering the note his father made his siblings sign and then the confrontation and ultimate resolution and its over in a second. No, just way too cut and dry and Pollyanna’ish for me. Sweet, easy read and of course the lovely HEA, but I would have enjoyed it a little more if I didn’t feel like I'd read it before.

What a joy it is to be back in Blessings, Georgia. I am always so excited when I see there is a new story to read. The Knox family is the center of this book, with the focus on Hunt Knox who arrived back in Blessings after being gone for fifteen years, to be by his mother’s bedside at her passing. There has been a rift in the family for all these years and the story unfolds slowly as to what happened to cause that rift. The nurse at Majorie Knox’s bedside when Hunt arrives is Ava, who Marjorie had babysat for many years earlier. She was a couple of years younger than Hunt, but had ALWAYS carried a torch for him. The romance progressive without much conflict but the family conflict was definitely there. As always, Sharon Sala writes comforting, small town romances, and I never fail to fall under her spell with each and every new story. Looking forward to the next one already.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Net Galley, and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Hunt Knox returns home to Blessing, Georgia to speak to his dying mother. He left fifteen years ago when somebody stole the money that he had saved up to go to college. Since his siblings and his father refused to tell him who took it, Hunt left home and never returned. Instead of going to college, he joined the Army and flew helicopters into Iran. He only left after his helicopter crashed and he was no longer fit to serve.

His mother at the time had no idea why Hunt left. She has called him back on her deathbed and makes him promise to fix up the family house and sell it. The proceeds, after repaying himself for his stolen money, will be split among all of the siblings. Hunt follows through on his promise, but refuses to have anything to do with any of his brothers and sisters. They, in turn, ignore him.

Their mother’s nurse, Ava Ridley, is an old friend of Hunt and his family. Hunt’s mother was Ava’s babysitter when she was younger and her mother had to work. She grew up with their family. Ava had a crush on Hunt at that time, and she has never gotten over him.

While Hunt works on the home, only Birdie, his youngest sister, holds no resentment and still talks to him. She was too young to know when he left and has no idea what had happened to break up their family. Ava also has no idea why Hunt left home and has never returned.
She still loves him and supports him in everything he says and does.

Sharon Sala skillfully illustrates how this traumatic incident has affected everyone in the Knox family. No one is successful or even happy. It is obvious that they all feel guilty about the part they played in chasing Hunt away and ruining the close relationship they all had them. When they were all younger, Hunt had been like a second father to them.

Even though the reader knows from the beginning why Hunt left, we have no idea who stole his money or anything else about any of the details about the crime. Ms. Sala takes the reader on a twisted roller coaster ride, throwing out many clues that do not pan out. The reader does not find out any details until the end of the book.

Sharon Sala skillfully creates a story with a complex plot and three-dimensional characters. These characters have deep wounds and strong emotions that have been simmering underneath their lives for fifteen long years.

Hunt’s mother is dying. He has been called home to see to her dying wish. Hunt has been gone a very long time. He left home after a betrayal by his family. So, his entrance back into his family’s world causes a huge backlash. Enter Ava! Ava was just a young teenager when Hunt left town. But, she has always had a crush on him. Hunt finds himself depending on Ava more than he ever expected. Can these two overcome the obstacles and end up happy?

Oh boy…Hunt is the perfect character. He is the strong, silent type with a kick! Then there is Ava. She is sweet and has the strength needed to get through a hard life. These two together, along with Hunt’s dysfunctional family, created a wonderful tale.

This story hit me at just the right time. I needed a light, sweet read. This novel was it! Such great characters with a sweet southern town as the setting. Perfect for a quick, no nonsense read! Grab your copy today!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

This is the 11th book in the Blessings, Georgia series.
It was a lovely read.
There sure is a lot happening in this small town. Sometimes, I found the extra characters didn’t add to the story. It just seemed like filler.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.

Somebody to Love by Sharon Salsa is the 11th book in the Blessings, Georgia romance series, and my first book in this series. This book was easy to read and perfect for an escape from cold weather or the pandemic. This book is a sweet romance between childhood friends, along with family betrayal. I will be reading more books by this author, I recommend this book if you enjoy romances.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Somebody to Love by Sharon Sala is another excellent book in the Blessings, Georgia series. Although this is a romance story it is also so much more. It includes all our favorite characters as well as meeting new ones. It is a story of family, forgiveness, and love. Hunter and Ava are reunited due to Hunter’s return to Blessings to fulfill his promise to his dying mother. The story is very engaging and has all the necessary elements of a good story. I recommend this story.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this advanced copy of this story for my honest review.

Sharon Sala is a new-to-me author. I was not initially aware that this was book 11 in the series, but not reading the other books did not hinder my enjoyment of the book.

The story focuses on Hunt Knox, the eldest son returning to his dying mother's bedside after a lie caused his sudden departure 15 years ago. Despite the past, Hunt wants to carry out his mother's wish for him to renovate and auction the house for sale. Along the way he gets reacquainted with Ava, who his mother used to babysit before he left. The past doesn't stay in the past and this brings relief to Hunt and his entire family.

This was a nice and quick read. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

It is hard to believe that Somebody to Love by Sharon Sala is the eleventh book in the Blessings, Georgia Series. Not hard to believe that it is one of my favorites next to Peanut’s and Ruby’s story. I think perhaps that is because both have an element of suspense in them. Hunt’s story begins as he is returning home after fifteen years, hoping to make it back in time to see his sick mother. The mystery is not so much why he left but why his college money was stolen in the first place.

While it did not take long for Ava Ridley and Hunt Knox to reconnect their friendship the mystery kept coming between his siblings and him. I could appreciate that Ava and Hunt found romance and love but I kept hoping for a reconciliation between the Knox family. Then there is a major subplot that was interesting if sad too.

This is not just a romance but life is like in a small town story with the highs and the lows that happen daily. I live in a Southern small town so I can testify that this is one realistic series. One of my favorite parts is how this series as help reclaim the expression, “Bless their heart.” While rumors and gossip happen in this small town never, not even one gossipy comment follows that statement, just a clear blessing for whoever it was intended. I love Blessings, Georgia.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was my first Sharon Sala book, I was excited to dive in based on the setup. I did not realize this was book number 11 in a series by the author, however, after finishing the book, I did not feel like I needed to read the first 10 books in order to understand the characters.

Hunter returns to his hometown to say his final goodbye to his mother before she passes. We learn in chapter 1 that his siblings and father stole money from him when he was 18 causing him to leave town and not return home until now. The only person he has been in contact with is his mother, he promises her that he will return home and take care of things after her passing. Ava, is a hometown girl working as a nurse at the local hospital. She spent her childhood at Hunter's home, his mother babysat her and she was friends with his younger siblings. She has been in love with Hunter for as long as she can remember.

I felt a lot of emotions in reading this book, but not due to the content. At times I found myself lost in the story and enjoying the moment I was in, at other times I was frustrated by the writing (may have been due to the author's writing style). There were several inconsistencies in the story and the timeline, and a lot of extra characters with no real purpose. I was able to keep all the characters and relationships straight, I just did not understand the purpose of many of them, they did not have an impact on the story, nor did they alter the storyline.
I struggled with the timeline the most. Hunter returns home on New Years Day and within 2 weeks he is professing his undying love for Ava and asking her to marry him. It all felt very rushed and forced.

Somebody to love was a quick, easy read. I was drawn in to the story, despite my above stated opinions. This would be a fantastic beach or vacation read. I rated this book 2 stars, mostly based on the writing and inconsistencies, I would rate the storyline and characters 3 stars.

Thank you NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Sharon Sala for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
Do you read series? Somebody to love is book #11 (!) in Sharon Sala’s Blessings, Georgia series. I’ve read book #10, Once in a Blue Moon, but I haven’t gotten to the rest yet. They’re rated well on Goodreads and I enjoyed Once in a Blue Moon and Somebody to Love so I have no doubt I’d enjoy the rest of the series. I’m kinda the worst about reading series out of order and I didn’t have any issue understanding what was going on without all of the back history. I will say that like Once in a Blue Moon, this just didn’t blow me away. This is a solid book with a solid plot, solid characters and a good ending. Pretty middle of the road stuff. THIS IS NOT A NEGATIVE THING!!! I like to call these books my palate cleanser. It’s nice to pick up a book and just know what you’re getting into.

Somebody to Love” by Sharon Sala the 11th instalment in the Blessings series. This is the first book I have read by this author but I will definitely be reading more.

This is the 11th book in a series but it read as a standalone. some day I may go back and read the whole series but I got a lot out of reading this.
Fifteen years ago, a family member stole the money Hunt Knox had saved for college, while three of his siblings and his father hid the truth and told him to get over it. Betrayed by their lies and thievery, Hunt joined the army and wound up flying Apache helicopters in Iraq.
Now Hunter is back home, per his mother's wishes, as she is dying. When he gets to hospital he gets to say goodbye to her and tells her he will keep the promise he made her.
With his sisters and brothers there he is very hurt by the past and they are not happy to see him either.
This book has loss and moving on from loss and hurt. But the truth always comes out. The secret that was kept will also bring them all back together. I was wrong on what the secret is.
Hunt also runs into a woman who is from his past and was a part of his family. While getting his mom's house ready to sell Hunt gets close to Ava.
There are other families affected by loss in this book and how they deal with it.
Very well written.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the ARC to review.

What a privilege to have an early read of this wonderful story.
Blessings, Georgia sounds like a wonderful town, just put on your comfy slippers and settle in and I guarantee you won't want to put this book down.
A family secret, betrayal and 15 years of misery because of it. The story revolved around this secret and I was dying to know what it was.
Long time childhood friendship turns into so much more for returning family member Hunt and friend Ava.
Guilt eating away at the family will come to a head later in the story giving us a wonderful conclusion.
I love this authors writing style and have for years, following her on social media I can hear her voice and expressions coming to life in her stories.
Wonderful story, I loved it.
