Somebody to Love by Sharon Sala (Blessings, Georgia #11) 5 stars

Blessings, Georgia - a town with beloved characters that populate 11 books - a comfortable place to visit and a much needed refuge during this turmoil.

Hunter Knox rides into town on his motorcycle. Coming home to fulfill his mother's last wishes, he is going to fix up her home and liquidate and distribute her estate. He left Blessings after a family betrayal. His father stole his college fund and his future dreams. His siblings know about the theft, but kept their fathers crime a secret. Now after all these years, can a family be mended and forever love be found where you least expect it.

I really enjoyed this book, familiar characters just pop in and out, some with cameos, others with a bigger role to play. It's like visiting and catching up on all the gossip after being away. The romance was sweet and there was some action due to a heart attack and an attempted robbery. I can't wait for the next book - The Christmas Wish coming in September 2021.

Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for this ARC.

Once again the reader enters Blessing GA, with an engaging story of coming back to face old ghosts. The past was something painful, but the present gave love and forgiveness. As with all of the Blessing books, problems evolve and are solve with love and a great story line. Can't wait for the next installment.

This was my first foray to Blessings. It can be read standalone. The story was a great going home storyline. Hunter goes home to fulfill his mother's dying wish. And has no idea that his life is about to change. While there was a lot of past heartbreak, the story was overall very hopeful. The whole book left me feeling upbeat and positive. I received an advance copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was so excited to have my request for an advanced reader copy of Sharon Sala's eleventh Blessings, Georgia novel, Somebody to Love, granted. It's a series I've been following from its outset and have thoroughly enjoyed, but I liked this latest novel a tad less than some of the previous ones for several reasons, and am giving it a 4-star rating.

The hero in this novel is Hunter (Hunt) Knox, who left Blessings at 18, never looked back and for good reason. He had been saving up for college for years, and amassed $8,000 to pay for it, but when he was ready to leave, he discovered that it was missing. None of his 4 siblings would own up to stealing it, and when he approached his father, he was rather callously told to "do something else." He joined the military, became a helicopter pilot, and stayed in the service for 7 years--until a helicopter crash and his injuries sidelined him. When healed, he got word that his mother was dying, and that she wanted him home. He reached her hospital bedside just in time, to let her know that he would honor the promise she requested of him. None of his siblings even spoke to him, nor had they really kept in touch or known where he was and what he was doing during his absence from Blessings. Hunt did manage to notice the pretty nurse at his mother's bedside. It was Ava Ridley, who grew up with him and his siblings and who had turned into a lovely young woman. He didn't really recognize her at first. What he didn't know was that she'd had a childhood crush on him, and that those feelings never left her even when he left town.

Hunt's siblings were shocked to learn that their mother had appointed Hunt as the executor of her estate, and that he was expected to make repairs on the family home and get it ready to sell. Once sold, Hunt was to receive a lump sum of $8,000 off the top, and be repaid for any home improvement expenses he incurred for during the renovation. The remainder was to be split 5 ways.

I liked the slow reveal of the secret of Hunt's missing money, and I especially liked the spirituality that Ms. Sala wove into this story. As someone who follows her posts on social media, her relationship with spirit is an intrinsic part of her nature, and I loved the way she threaded it into this heartwarming novel.

There are so many other characters and subplots in this novel that it felt as though Ms. Sala managed to include every character in town. Followers of this series will recognize many of them, and new characters are added as well. For this reader, much of what transpires in these subplots with the secondary characters seemed like a lot of unnecessary padding--but while the subplots were interesting in and of themselves, had they not been part of this novel, I doubt I would have missed them.

My only other problem was with the two main characters, Hunt and Ava--both quite likable. They went from Hunt not even recognizing Ava to "I've loved you forever," in just one week. Rather than all of the aforementioned subplots, I wish Ms. Sala had given theses two characters a little more time to get to know one another, and for Hunt to catch up with Ava's "I've loved you forever" at a more extended, leisurely and believable pace.

All in all, I will continue following this charming, heartwarming, and addictive series. While each Blessings novel can be read as a standalone, I'd recommend reading these novels in the order they were written since so many characters in the previous novels reappear in this one.

As stated, I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for an advanced copy of Somebody to Love by Sharon Sala.

"Grab some sweet tea and sit awhile; This sweet, emotional story has family betrayal, childhood crushes, a veteran hero, and a second chance to get everything right."

While this is part of the Blessings, Georgia series it can be read as a standalone.

A sweet story of coming home, second chances and childhood crushes in an adorable small town with a great cast of characters.

Sharon Sala’s Blessings, Georgia books are always a delight. They are each standalone novels, so you can read this if you haven’t read the others, but if you want to get to know the town and the other characters, I suggest starting at the beginning of the series and reading them all!

One common thread is that they start out with someone dealing with a difficult situation; in this one Hunter Knox returns home, to see his dying mother one last time and to let her know that he will take care of the tasks she asked of him. Ava is a nurse that had a huge crush on Hunter when they were growing up, though she was younger than him. An unfortunate circumstance drove him from home and into the Army, but is it too late to reconnect in a meaningful way with his siblings?

I love Blessings - the people, the stories, and the sense of hope that I always get from reading these novels. Another winner here!

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Every visit to Blessings, Georgia is a treasured visit with new and old friends! Hunter Knox returns to Blessings when he learns that his mother is dying. Although he left town fifteen years ago, after a fallout with his siblings and father, he has kept in touch with his mother. He served in the Army as an Apache helicopter pilot until he was shot down and now flies commercially. Ava Ridley returned to Blessings and works in the local hospital as an ER nurse. She has loved Hunt since she was a young girl…he was her hero. Is there a chance for her with Hunt as he stays to restore the family home and settle his mother’s estate? Hunt slowly falls under her spell, but he will be returning to his home and work in Houston. Will Ava agree to go with him? When their life together seems all but certain, Ava is severely injured in an incident in the ER. Has Hunt finally found his “somebody to love” only to lose her? As in every Blessings, Georgia book, other members of the town are interwoven into the main story. Share in their lives, love, laughter, grief and daily blessings. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Hunt Knox is back in town because his mother is dying and he's calling his siblings to account for the fact that someone stole his college fund all those years ago. He joined the military and became a helicopter pilot but is resentment has lingered. Ava, who has been caring for his mother, has had a crush on Hunt for years and now that he's in town, well, you know what's going to happen. This winds a family secret into a love story between two people with issues in their background. Luckily, they live in Blessings, a small town where people help each other. This would have benefited from another edit to smooth out some of the rough edges and repetition but you know what- it's a good read with an HEA. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. One for a snowy day.

This is one of those books that drew me in from the first page, once I started reading I just could not stop until I finished the book.

Hunt and Ava are great characters, likable and relatable basically really good people. The have a shared history together where Ava has had a girlhood crush on Hunt for basically her whole life. But a betrayal from Hunts family sends Hunts life spinning and he leaves his family never looking back. Until he comes back home to fulfill his dying mothers last request.

Hunt has a lot of anger when he returned home, justifiable anger at his siblings. But he’s a good person who quickly realizes that his youngest sister Birdie was innocent and had no idea what had happened. But his other siblings Ray, Emma and Junior were all participants.

Meeting Ava as an adult instead of a kid the same age as his brother Ray, Hunt is quick to realize that he has feelings for Ava. While Ava soon realized that she never got over her crush on Hunt.

This book is a great story about second chances, with love and with connecting with family that has grown very far apart. Along with forgiveness and grace. I highly recommend this book.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this title!

I have read every book in this series and while I feel there are still a few interesting characters and interesting story lines to pursue this is not the best example of the series at large though Hunt and Ava are great characters.
Hunt sweeps in the middle of the night into the hospital where his mother is holding on to her last breath waiting for him to show up. His other 4 siblings who have kept the death bed vigil are not too happy to see him give his mother permission to go promising to take care of her last wishes and then emerge as the executor of her will. Talk about dysfunctional families and secrets that divide. It's clear from the get go that someone stole a 19 year Hunt's savings that were supposed to get him to college no one is telling who and why. Hunt has lived a full life having survived the wars in the middle east and now flying oil rig personnel back and forth.
Ava has loved Hunt since she was a little girl and his mother baby sat her. The years of separation were like they never were and now all grown up, Hunt and Ava promptly fall in love and begin a relationship. This is one time when Blessings doesn't show at its best as a small town community that does so much good though the story does redeem that feature before its done. Even though Hunt knows he can never forget or forgive the past and live in Blessings can he find a way to bridge the gap and forge a semblance of relationship with his siblings. You'll have to read the book to see how it all turns out.
There's a bit of woo here as well what with messages from beyond the grave and a death and rebirth. All in all I felt that the story dragged and did not have enough meat to keep a reader involved.

A very sweet romance! The family dynamics really added a special touch to this book. I was intrigued from the very beginning and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the book came out to be. The town was charming and the cast of characters a fun mix. There were too many side plots going on for me, it really pulled away from the main story. Overall, a sweet read that made my heart smile. My thanks to the publisher for the advance reader in exchange for my honest review.

This series just keeps getting better and better!

Sharon Sala is one of my favorite authors. Her books always make me so darn happy and I’m always upset when the story is over.

Somebody to Love was excellent!
Hunt & Ava were the perfect couple.

Hunt left home 15 years ago after someone in his family stole his college fund. He never returned, but his mama is dying and her last request was for him to return home. Of course, Hunt’s siblings are not thrilled with him being back, because they have a secret and it’s one they don’t want Hunt to ever find out. Ava has been in love with Hunt since she was a little kid. His mom used to babysit her and she’s always had a crush on him. Having him disappear really hurt her, but now that he’s back, Ava hopes he’ll see her as more than the little girl his mom watched.

Blessings wouldn’t be Blessings if there wasn’t any drama. Betrayal, secrets, robbery, fire, and even death is what’s going on in Blessings. I absolutely loved it!

I loved everything about this book. The plots, the characters, the town and of course all the Bless your heart drama.

The Knox family kept a secret that sent Hunt away until his mother’s death brought him back. A family must heal after betrayal and secrets broke their bond. A good read but not enough romance.

Really sweet love story! I will tell you, there are a lot of characters and different stories happening at once. I found myself skimming through those to get to the main character story. They all fit together and tie into the overall idea of the story, but it’s easier for me to stay focused on one set of characters. A good book you will enjoy! It’s also clean which is an added bonus!

Hunter Knox has returned to the town be left year ago because of betrayal by a family member and he void never to return, except when he gets a letter from his mother, that she is dying and wants to see him once more. She is the only one he would return for. When he arrives at his mother’s bedside, the young girl, now a woman, Ava Ridley, whom his mother babysat and was now a nurse at his mother’s bedside caring for her in her final moments. Also, there were his 2 sisters and his 2 brothers.

Ava Ridley had the biggest crush on Hunt and those feelings all came rushing back when she saw him. She helps the family through the grief of losing their mother and she spends more and more time getting reacquainted with Hunt and those feeling grow stronger and stronger. But Hunt is just there to do as his mother asked, fix up the house and sell it and then he is going back his job for an oil company flying helicopters.

Can these two find their way to a lasting relationship and can Hunt once again feel at home in Blessings, Georgia. Hunt must get past the secrets and lies and betrayal and make peace with his siblings in order to go forward and be at peace.

This is the 4th book I have read in this series and not in order of publishing date, but each book can be read as a standalone with a lot of the towns people in each book, I loved this story and it had me gripped in this story of betrayal, disappointment and the choices we make with family to forgive and forget and get that peace of mind that only love can give you. This book runs all the gambit of emotions reading one of Sharon Sala’s book always gives you. So, grab a box of Kleenex and enjoy this wonderful heartwarming sweet love story.

Thank you to Sharon and Netgalley for letting me read this ARC..

Somebody to Love is a very well written romance. Good plot and character dynamics. I highly recommend this book. I received an advance ebook from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

It's another great addition to the Blessings series. I do enjoy how she writes about family dynamics and felt that the situation that Hunt found himself in was believable. There are always a few situations in the book that are far-fetched, but that's why it's fiction.

Another heart warming romance with a bit of mystery from Sharon Sala. Welcome to Blessings, I wish I lived there.

Somebody to Love is another sweet book by Sharon Sala book set in Blessings, GA. This book is the story of Hunt (Hunter) and Ava. I have read all of the books set in Blessings and this one is one that is very sweet with no underlying dark plot (well, there is a small one and I didn't see exactly where it was going, but the conclusion to it was well done). Normally I like an extra bit of suspense, but this book stands strong without it. It is one of my favorites of the series. It does have heavy religious aspects, so if you don't like that, this book isn't for you. I'm not always a fan of that in my romance novels, but again, Ms. Sala pulls it off well in this book. The strongest word I feel about this book is the word "sweet". Strong 4 stars.

I received an ARC from Netgalley

Hunt comes back to fulfill his dying mother's wishes. He does that, falls in love, and confronts the past.

It was a feel good quick read. It was my first Blossom series book and didn't feel lost. It does want me to read the previous books since I have a feeling it's a great series. There are smaller several stories within the main story that introduce you to more characters but does at times make it weird that you are jumping story lines
