Great puzzles for exercising the brain. A nice mix of puzzles that engage a variety of topics and require readers to use different logic and math skills.

This book is a great selection of brain teasers and puzzles for adults. Honestly, I miss getting books like this. As a kid, I got these all the time! As an adult, it's harder to find them or find the time. Seeing this pop up on NetGalley made me so excited. I had a reason to sit down and play with these (you don't really need one, but it's more fun to have one).

If you're looking for a fun set of activities to do by yourself, with friends or over an audio/video chat - do it! I think this is a great selection of puzzles whether it's for personal enjoyment or even for professional/learning purposes.

Great book for anyone who loves math and science. 190 word problems and solutions shown on the last pages of the book. Great fun for teen and adults!

Pencil-Free Puzzles is a fun book to have if you like doing thinking puzzles. To be honest, I used a pencil on some. Math and Logic are my favorites. This would be a great book to pull out when you’re hanging out with a group of roughly the same IQs..

This was a great book of brain teasers. It included a range of fairly simple puzzles to much harder ones. During this difficult year this is the perfect book to help get my brain working harder! It's always good to keep our brains active and this book offers a plethora of puzzles, easy to do on the go without paper and pen. Some are super quick and easy while others offer more of a challenge. Great option while waiting in line or just finding yourself with a few minutes to fill.

These brain teaser puzzles make your brain work overtime!
Great to pass the time when you are bored but they also drive you nuts trying to work them out.
These would be amazing if you had to commute to work regularly!

quick little brain teaser puzzles...depending on how well you deal with brain teasers can determine if this is too easy or not for you. I enjoyed messing around with them in my spare time and sharing them with others as we had a few laughs and conversations started that mad eit all worth while.

These puzzles are great fun! With a mixture of math and logical conundrums it had something for everyone. Maths never was my strong point so I’ll admit a few did take me more than 60 seconds but the buzz I got from solving them was worth it. Some are fairly simple to solve whilst others really make you think, but don’t worry if you can’t solve them as the answers are all available at the end.

If you enjoy puzzles that make you think outside the box then this is a book for you. With 210 puzzles it’ll definitely keep you occupied. I read this electronically on both tablet and mobile phone – layout on both was excellent, making it an extremely portable tool for when you find yourself with a spare few minutes. I particularly liked the graphics for each puzzle.

Haselbauer's 60-Second Brain Teasers Pencil-Free Puzzles collection book (part of a 60-Second series) is a fantastic way to pass a few minutes here and there without needing to really focus on a story. Each puzzle presents a quick challenge that is neither too easy nor too hard. A must-have for laundry days, trip layovers, or days when you're stuck inside.

This is a great book. What appear to be simple questions lead to a bit of thought. Great for doing with kids or when with friends. The questions certainly get people talking when trying to come up with the answers as fun arguments start of what is the correct answer.
The questions are at the front of the book. The answers are clearly explained at the rear. An entertaining way to spend time.

Maybe Not Pencil Free

I'm not quite sure if I agree with the title. Some of these may take you more than 60 seconds, and you may need a pencil and paper if you don't do well holding multiple numbers in your mind at once. This is a book of 180 brain teasers. Most appear to be mathematical, though some are logic or word based. They ranged in difficulty from very simple that figured out in less than 10 seconds to more complex that certainly took longer than a minute. On a few of the teasers, I didn't think the author provided enough information for you to figure out the answer from what was given; vagueness about the importance of certain data obscured figuring out some answers when that should not have happened. Of course, some could argue that that is a part of puzzling out brain teasers like this one. If you enjoy brain teasers, however, you might enjoy this book.

A good brain teaser book of math problems. Actually was giving me a headache, but my husband got them easily. If you like math and puzzles I would highly recommend this book.

Nice variety of cutesty different puzzles at all skill levels. Fun and a nice distraction. I’d love to see more!

I am now equipped with 190 new riddles to amuse and annoy my friends with. Thank you! This reminds me of the Mensa riddles books I used to love trying to conquer in my teen years, but this one only requires middle school level math skills, so it's a bit more accessible. I appreciate how the answer key at the end explains the answers, rather than just providing the correct answers and moving on. Tweens, teens, and adults with a good grasp on middle school level math and logic stand a good chance of answering at least half of these correctly on the first try with a little critical thinking, and those who enjoy this sort of puzzle will be thoroughly entertained all the way through.

If you enjoyed the 60-seconds crime brain teasers from the same author than you'll like this book as well. Once again we are tasked in trying to figure out these short puzzles that are riddle like. Just like the crime one these will take you a bit longer than 60 seconds to figure out and you'll get more than 60 seconds of enjoyment out of each of these puzzles. You might itch to go and grab a pencil but that isn't necessary.

I wanted to love this but couldn't. The puzzles felt like familiar school word puzzles. I was expecting something with more variety. The biggest complaint I have is that there weren't explanations to help learn how to think differently. Also, the Net Galley review version was a little squashed and hard to read, which does the book a disservice.

I enjoy brain teasers, mysteries, and puzzles. I enjoy the satisfaction you get when figuring something out that made you have to think. Too often, we just Google an answer and do not have to figure it out for ourselves. 60-Second Brain Teasers Pencil-Free Puzzles: Short Head-Scratchers from the Easy to Near Impossible by Nathan Haselbauer makes you think and is not a book to read in one sitting. Your brain would hurt too much if you did.

Haselbauer includes an array of puzzles that involves logic and some thought to figure out the puzzles. Some of them stumped me. None were too easy.

The puzzles varied in difficulty and process to solve them. Some are logic-based; others involve math. Either way, they are a fun way to use your brain and pass the time.

This book is reminiscent of the Dell Pencil Puzzles and Word Games I enjoyed so much while growing up. It would be perfect for a road trip or a family gathering.

Several reviewers suggested it helped their children start using their brains again to get ready for back to school.

This book brought a little bit of joy and showed who are the more competitive family members in the house!

We read the puzzles out loud and took turns working out the answers, some of which were very simple and were ideal for the younger members of the team, and some which led to some serious head scratching.

The puzzles were interesting and well-worded, and definitely provided us with a bit of light-hearted fun and took the kids away from the electronics for a while.

Great little book that will get you thinking. Some puzzles easier than others however some I had to cheat and look at the solutions! I had fun reading some of these out to my children and getting them using their brains too!
