I enjoyed reading this book. Love the characters. This book had a great pace and kept me turning pages till the end. I was a little disappointed in the ending, not how it ended just that it ended kind of abruptly. I thought it might have needed an epilogue to tie up some of the loose ends. Overall though a great read.

I enjoyed this story. The characters were believable and likeable. The romance was good. Could have gone for more interactions between Julia and Kaiden but what they had was HOT! Their relationship was good and I think they seemed to grow in their communication. All in all, a good read.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.

Kaiden is more than happy to help his neighbor make is house wheelchair accessible but is surprised to find Julia back home. Sparks have always flown between them, but others have kept them apart. Will they find a way to be together or will their families tear them apart? Great characters with lots of drama and emotion. A good read.

He antagonizes her.

Kaiden is the rancher next door, who also happens to be a carpenter.
Julia is back in town to oversee the accessibility changes to her father's house and arrange help for him in her absence.
These two are constantly at it, Kaiden really seems to treat Julia with nonstop quarreling.

I loved this book and everything about it. The characters are great; they have such depth and are so well written, you can’t help but want hem to succeed. It was fun to watch this story play out—how Julia and Kaiden went back and forth from enemies to friends to lovers and back again. I loved the dialog between them and the way the sexual tension built from their arguments and heated discussions. The misunderstandings that continually played back and forth worked so well in this story to build the plot and make the reader really want the characters to figure it out already. It’s really a great book, and fun to revisit many of the characters from previous books. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.

Back at my favorite town, Morgantown. What a fantastic story. This series never leaves you hanging. Written so wonderfully with complete story lines. All of the books are linked together and so good. One of my favorite series to read.

Although the fourth book in a series, it can be read as a standalone story. The Miller family has had it's share of family struggles. Kaiden is a master carpenter and the only Miller to be able to get through to their dad.

His latest job is for their neighbors, Juan Garcua, father to his former best friend, Miguel and his sister Julia. Kaiden has always used humor in difficult situations, and that's his first reaction when he sees Julia again. She's home to help her dad transition to life in a wheelchair as his MS has progressed.

Kaiden oversees the home renovations to ease the transition, and their friendship is renewed. Miguel returns but with an underhanded scheme to sell the family farm from underneath his father. Can Kaiden and Julia overcome their pasts and differences to build a new life together? Read this great story and return to Morgan Valley where family are not only blood relatives, but neighbors and friends.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

Emotional, Small Town Romance!!

Kaiden is the “extra” son of a tough rancher. He lives on the ranch but works as a project manager/carpenter primarily. When a neighbor is struck with MS he takes on the project of modifying the house to be wheelchair accessible. The neighbor’s daughter Julia has come for a few weeks to help her father.

Julia is a lawyer at a high-pressure firm in Northern CA. Growing up she did not get along with Kaiden. Suddenly she is counting on him. But is he trustworthy?

Tough family decisions, stressful work, and matters of the heart all take center stage here in a fabulous, emotional, romantic story which you will greatly enjoy.

Kaiden is a skilled carpenter and is always willing to lend out a helping hand. Imagine his surprise when he encounters Julia. He hasn’t seen her in years and now since her father is sick he is helping her get the long neglected house updated. . Will they able to ignore the chemistry that burns brightly under the surface or will they simply ignore one another? Great continuation of the series.

Book 4 of the Morgan Valley series and Kaiden's slow and easy-going charm holds a swagger and a confidence above all. But his reaction to Julia's return shows a vulnerability in his outward mien. Family plays a significant role in the story: how lives are shaped, how thoughts are changed, and how opinions are formed. Will these two resolve the issues that are keeping them apart?

Rating 4.5 stars
This is the fourth book in The Millers of Morgan Valley series. I have really enjoyed all the books in the series and would recommend them. This books characters were well developed and wonderful to get to know. I have caught glimpses of one of the main characters from previous books in the series, but really getting to know him in this book was wonderful. The pace makes it hard to put down. Even though it is a series, this book can be read as a stand-alone book.

The Rancher Meets His Match by Kate Pearce is the fourth book in the Millers of Morgan Valley series. It can be read as a stand-alone book also. I love this series of stories, but this book did not reach the same standards as Kate Pearce’s other books. This was Kaiden and Julia’s story. These two snipped, bickered, and used so much sarcasm that it was a wonder they ever liked each other. They were very attracted to each other, but all the sass got in the way. How could they get together if they lacked the communication skills to achieve it? Well they did and got their HEA. I will read more from Kate Pearce but was a bit disappointed in this book.
I received an advanced copy of this story from Netgalley for my honest review.

The Rancher Meets his Match by Kate Pearce
The Millers of Morgan Valley #4

Hmmm…I love Kate Pearce’s series and the books in them. She writes historical and contemporary romance well. I loved the books that told of the Morgan family and have enjoyed the three books that have dealt with the Miller family, too. That said…I had more trouble with Kaiden and Julia as they fought to find their happily ever after. Why? I felt they had little in common, had difficulty communicating and spent too much time bickering, sniping, and miscommunicating. At the end of the book, I was still wondering if it was a HFN or a HEA ending and suppose I will find out in book five when I read it.

What I liked:
* Revisiting the Miller family and Morgantown
* Kaiden: a nice guy with an interesting sense of humor. There I smore to him than the laid-back persona he usually shows. He is the peacekeeper in the family and a craftsman carpenter that I felt was “stuck in a rut” that I wanted him to get out of.
* Julia: I have mixed feelings about her but admired her ability to pursue her dreams. She seemed a bit snarky and stuck in her high school feelings about Kaiden rather than having matured beyond them. I admired her willingness to do what needed to be done for her father even though he was not always as aware or thankful as he could have been.
* That they eventually found a way forward but would have liked to have
* That the baddies were exposed

What I didn’t like:
* That I wanted “more” for both Julia & Kaiden – and wanted to know more about how they would work through their issues
* The fathers of both Julia and Kaiden were not the best parents to their children…and somewhat unfair
* Knowing that communication would have solved a lot of the issues for both generations
* Julia’s brother, Miguel – wonder if he will show up later in the series and be redeemed or…nots
* Julia’s boss(es)

Did I enjoy this book? Yes, but not as much as some of the others in this series
Would I read more in this series/by this author? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington-Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is the 4th book in the Millers of Morgan Valley series. This time it's Kaiden and Julia's story. I enjoyed this enemies to lovers read. Although a little less bickering between them would have been nice. But overall I liked it.

The Rancher Meets His Match is book four of The Millers of Morgan Valley by Kate Pearce. The first series and this spin off series taking place in Morgan Valley is my favorites ones written by this author. The stories are solid including this one which has Kaiden Miller and his childhood nemesis, Julia at its heart. Part of the intrigue is that Julia doesn’t understand the continuing animosity from Kaiden. She is willing to let bygones be bygones for the most part as she sees how Kaiden helps her father.

This is cowboy romance with a hard-headed cowboy and one grown daughter trying to help out her father. This “enemies to lovers” romance dealing as much with Julia’s family as it does with the couple. Such is life in a small- town. Country life has it ups and downs but so does the big city which Julia has discovered.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I read all of the Morgans and the Millers (so far) and this is my least favorite book. It really should not have been since I do love snarkiness in my stories. But the sniping went on and on and on with nothing to show for it at the end. I loved Kaiden but he jumped to way many conclusions. Julia was less likeable for me. If she wanted hands off then she should not have kept the romance part going. And sorry, but the sexual tension was just not there and at the end I had a hard time figuring out how they were going to make their relationship work. What I liked the most of the story was the Millers relationships and how Kaiden was always the peacemaker but kind of resented the fact. I wanted more of that story delved into. Overall it is a nice book.

Kaiden and Julia have fire in their hearts!

Set in the middle of two very complex families, the love story between Julia and Kaiden has all the heart and all the heat that a romance reader could want. Both have to address their evolving relationships with their fathers, which made for a very absorbing, heart-wrenching, emotional tale.

Julia and Kaiden are true opposites, and the one chance they had in high school to pursue the possibility of more was sabotaged from every angle. Now that Julia's dad needs Kaiden's contracting expertise to remodel and adapt his home for his declining health, these two have more than enough opportunity to figure out if there's anything worth pursuing now.

I really enjoyed the distinct personalities the author created for her characters. Their hearts are split wide open as they examine where they are and compare that to where they want to be, and I loved every gut-punching revelation they had to go through. This story is simple on the outside but very complicated at its core, and I was hooked from the very first page all the way to their heartwarming HEA.

I also enjoyed getting updates on the characters from previous books and how their HEAs are shaping up. The entire Miller family is on board for this story, centering the story right in the middle of Kaiden's family dynamics. I loved how the issues that came up were handled realistically while still preserving the integrity of the virtues that are the hallmark of the Morgan Valley series.

This is a terrific book in an amazing series, and one I highly recommend to any reader who loves contemporary cowboy stories. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Kate Pearce is one of my favorite authors. I love what she created with Morgan Valley and the people that live there. This book is about Kaiden Miller, the middle Miller son and Julia Garcia, their neighbor and part of one of the other founding families. Like the Morgan and the Miller mothers, Lupita Garcia also left her husband and children to return to Guatemala to run a children's health clinic.

Growing up, Kaiden had been best friends with Miguel Garcia and had a crush on beautiful and brilliant Julia, but did not think he was good enough for her and had a falling out with Miguel, who left Morgan Valley to join the military. Julia is now a big shot lawyer in San Francisco and Kaiden, while still working on the family ranch is a master carpenter. Of all the Miller children, Kaiden is most like his angry dad, so has always suppressed the anger and covered it up by being the family clown. While Julia and Kaiden are attracted to each other, they are also constantly bickering, misunderstanding each other, dealing with family drama and Julia is going back to San Francisco. While I really like Kaiden, Julia just rubbed me the wrong way. It seemed like through most of the book, they were getting mad at each other, which got tedious. I don't really know that they will make it as a couple. I am sorry to say, this is my least favorite book of all the series, while I absolutely loved the previous one- An Unexpected Gift.

I read an ARC from NetGalley.com as part of the author's review team. This is my unbiased an voluntary review.

After the cute story of Ben and Silver in The Rebellious Rancher, I was very curious to see how the rest of the Miller family would be doing. Kaiden has always been the jokester of the family. That was his way to cope with his place in the family and all the issues. However, all grown up now and working as a carpenter, everyone still remembers the happy-go-lucky Kaiden. Who doesn't take anything seriously.
Julia has always taken everything very seriously. But having lived in the shadows of her brother, who was supposed to take over the ranch, she has left Morgen Valley to pursue her own career in New York. But now she is back, to help her sick father with house renovations for his wheelchair. And although her brother is nowhere to be found - as always - her father still doesn't believe that Julia is able to manage the range.
And to make matters worse: he has asked Julia's old nemesis Kaiden to help renovate the farm. For as long as Julia can remember, Kaiden and she have been enemies. Julia always wanting to prove herself and Kaiden always making fun of her. But all grown up now, the old feud can't prevent the sparks flying between them. But will they have a future together? Find out for yourself in this cute read. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I’m mutuals with Kate Pearce on Twitter, and I believe she’s also currently living in Hawaii (not anywhere near me, however), so I wanted to try some of her work. However, I feel The Rancher Meets His Match made a poor first impression. Not due to being fourth in a series, as it stands alone well enough, but the book just lacked spark.

Kaiden and Julia have a lot of potential with the history there, and Kaiden being Julia’s brother’s former friends. But it just felt like a real romantic mismatch, with the two constantly fighting, and the only time they’re not is when they’re in bed, which is a recipe for disaster for me, who likes when romantic interests get along without sex being involved. I could see them starting off with some animosity, but the buildup of tension toward the sexy scenes just turned me off.

The family drama was more interesting, with things being touched on hinting at backstory to the character interactions, but based on a glance at the blurbs of the prior books, this is probably not something I missed there, unless these are recurring characters.

I didn’t like this one, but I think this was just a miss for me, and I’m interested in exploring Kate Pearce’s backlist and future releases. And if you like Western romance with an emphasis on family drama, I think this one could work a bit better for you.
