I have been waiting for the second book in the Pure Talent Series since reading the first book. I love Skye and Garret. Skye is the premier publicist for the Pure Talent Agency. Although she has known them for years and they treat her like family, she get's to wondering if she is really happy. She is given an assignment that will challenge her. It includes an a list Hollywood star and her husband, who is being represented by her ex, an attorney named Garrett. They agree to play nice, but have to make a decision to see if the sparks they're feeling will grow into something more.

Garrett spent the last ten years of his life caring for his younger sister. Now that she is in college, he's able to life his life his way and is ready for the woman he let get away

I really enjoyed how Garrett really knew Skye, especially her interests. The storyline was superb, as well as most of the secondary characters, except the actress's, Paige, husband. I was also happy with the fact that the author made seeing a therapist normal, acceptable and needed, especially for a black woman. And when I read the word "relations" in the story I almost fell out I laughed so hard. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This was a gentle, low-tension, second chance romance between publicist Skye Palmer and crisis manager Garrett Steele who are thrown together when they find themselves representing the two halves of a celebrity couple in crisis.
The nature of the crisis is mostly that the male half of the couple is a raging arsehole, who cheats on his wife, sexually harrasses women, and is basically a waste of oxygen. Skye is representing Paige; Garrett is representing the arsehole.
The renewal of the romance between Skye and Garrett is quite pleasant but didn't grab me.
For me, the biggest problem with the book was Garrett's choice to take on Julius as a client. He dislikes Julius from the start, and is pretty sure the allegations of sexual harrassment are true, but chooses to take him on anyway because he wants to work on his own prejudices and biases. And then – surprise – Julius winds up harrassing Garrett's assistant, a scenario that I feel Garrett ought to have seen coming.

Garrett and Skye were once in a relationship. Unfortunately, life happened and the relationship did not survive. Fast forward 10 years later, they are living in Atlanta and hanging out with their mural friends on a regular. Will they be able to be friends again? Will they be able to work together and be adults about their past relationship? It was nice catching up with everyone. The story was a good read due to the friendships and love radiating from this book.

Also, will we get to see if Duke find love?

I really loved this book. Very nice plot and good characters too. Thumbs up to the author.
I loved Skye and Garrett together they fit each other so well. I had some issues with the book but they weren’t big issues and they didn’t take away from the overall book but I felt some chapters dragged a bit.
Also, how cute was baby Yoda? I really liked this book a lot and i’m glad I got the chance to read it.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Skye and Garrett get a second chance at love!

If you like reunited lovers, The Way You Hold Me is the book for you. Skye Palmer and Garrett Steele had dated earlier but their relationship had ended when he moved back to Houston but when they both end up trying to do damage control for the imploding marriage between Pure Talent’s biggest star and her soon to be ex-husband.

Skye planned out everything until her therapist told her to quit overthinking and just do it, so she went ahead and kissed Garrett at New Year’s. That kiss lead to spending some time together then some nights but would they admit that they had fallen back in love?

P.S. I want to read the next book where Paige finds love!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Way You Hold Me is the 2nd installment of the Pure Talent series. After reading several books by this author and hearing so much about Skye, I was ready for her to tell us her story.

Skye Palmer is a powerhouse in the PR community and part of the Pure Talent team. She is the most sawt after publicist to the A-Listers. Garrett Steele has developed a successful Crisis Management Firm, and troubleshooting is his superpower. Since the break up ten years ago, these two have been dancing around their attraction.

As we take this journey, it is obvious Skye's character is complex. She shoulders the weight of everything/everyone from family to failed relationships. Taking the advice of a friend, she sees a therapist, who challenges her with an assignment. It is that challenge that prompts her to seek closure to her unrest.

When Holywood actress Paige Mills and her husband are involved in a messy scandal, it is Skye and Garrett who get the call to represent them. Being forced to work together gives them the perfect opportunity to begin the clear the air.

I enjoyed taking this journey with Skye and Garrett. The author does a great job crafting real-life issues and how they deal with them. You get a great lineup of supporting characters that move the story alone, and you have an opportunity to get caught up.

I recommend The Way You Hold Me for your reading pleasure.

The Way You Hold Me by Elle Wright is the second book in the Pure Talent Series. The theme is second chance love and I couldn’t wait to dig into this one. Skye Palmer still has some animosity from the way her relationship ended with Garrett Steele years ago. The pair still run in the same circles and Skye decides to stop over thinking and brings in the New Year by kissing Garrett. It’s much more passionate than she anticipates and she panics. Ms. Wright always has quote worthy passages and one of my favorites by Garrett in describing Skye was “she was…the woman who’d haunted him with her presence and absence…” I just loved that.

Skye and Garrett’s work with their respective clients allows them to naturally reconnect as friends. Ms. Wright lets them take their time without rushing into something they aren’t ready for. Garrett knows what to say to prevent Skye from running.

Ms. Wright adds elements of Skye and Garrett working on themselves. Skye is trying not to overthink and freak out in situations. Garrett is dealing with his upbringing, being the father figure to his younger sister and making sacrifices. Garrett spent so many years avoiding the term Dad, but at the end of the day, that’s what he is, and a damn good one.

The friend group is still enjoying life. I like getting updates on the friends almost as much as the main couple. Zara and X are still as cute as ever. Duke Young, Skye’s best guy friend, is a mess. I don’t know who is going to tie him down. I’m definitely feeling the theme of second chance love and highly recommend this book.

The Way You Hold Me by Elle Wright is the second book in this series and I was fortunate to be able to read and review the first title as well. I was so ready to dive into Skye and Garrett's story because we saw so much about them in "The Way You Hold Me."

The story talks about Skye's anxiety attacks and Garrett's responsibility to his sibling but outside of their romance we don't see them truly fixing their relationship. Skye and Garrett also connections to family and friends, was nice but, I kept searching for something a bit more profound with them.

I anxious await for Duke to be the next series chatacter to fall in love. There were small snags here and there overall I rate it a great read. I look to the next book in this series.

I give this title a 3.5 and this is my honest and humble opinion. Thanks for letting me preview and review this title.

Unfortunately, this second chance romance had some pacing issues I couldn't overcome. The main pairing have a long history and good chemistry, but the plot really spins its wheels too much for me.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington for access to this arc.

Sadly, despite having read Elle Wright books in the past and enjoyed them, this book is not for me. It started off well and I was enjoying the backstory and character introductions. Then I saw the old conflict being reintroduced and the current one set up and was all in. Until at the halfway point I realized that the plot was just basically spinning its wheels. Skye's fear of "overthinking" problems started to grate along with the number of times she is caught basically staring at Garrett with her mouth hanging open, drooling over him to the point where someone has to snap her out of it. Then Garrett's loving devotion to raising his younger sister gets rehashed (Yes, I admire him but didn't need to keep reading this) along with how much of a liar his mother was. Every chapter just seemed like the previous one restated.

Very in-depth look into a second chance romance and all the things and people that can come between them.

Skye and Garret have a past that burned hot but ended in a flash. Responsibilities and immaturity caused a rift, along with Skye’s panic attacks and fear. Yet, several years later, they are thrown together at the engagement party of their respective best friends and Skye’s cousin.

Because they have overlapping friends, they’ve kind of always known on the peripheral level about each other, but their friends and family have stayed out of their relationship, until Skye seeks therapy and accepts and acts on her therapist ‘homework’. One steamy New Year’s Eve kiss later and Skye and Garrett embark on renewing their friendship first.

I loved all the details of the many surrounding relationships, and the shared inner circles, but the angst level was super high due to Skye’s panic attacks. While Skye excelled at being a ‘fixer’ for everyone (friend, family or client), she always fell short at fixing her own issues.

In the end, Skye and Garrett get their happy ending, the wedding goes off without a hitch, and all the friends and inter-connected family have a great time.

3.5 stars

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Way You Hold Me is another fun story taking the reader behind the glitz and glam and into the inner workings of a celebrity talent agency. While it is the second in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone, however I also recommend the first, as it’s also a fun book.

I liked Skye and especially Garrett…both are wonderful characters, with her being wonderfully complex and him being a total sweetheart. I did sometimes feel the relationship was a bit more focused on sex than anything else, and while I know that can be a selling point for some, I wanted something a bit more to their dynamic.

The supporting characters are all interesting, but especially Duke, who I hope gets a book next. And I like that both Skye and Garrett also have strong connections with family and friends, and I’d love the opportunity to explore each of their stories in some capacity.

In short, despite some personal hang-ups, this book was fairly enjoyable. If you’re looking for a lighthearted contemporary romance, I think you’ll like this one.

The Way You Hold Me, was an interesting romance novel. Garrett and Skye made such a cute couple. I love the tightness between family and friends. I bet holidays are a blast.

Skye Palmer does what 80% of us women do...Overthink! Stuck in a rud, Skye blames everyone and everything except for the woman in the mirror. But New Year's Eve turned things around, starting with her love life.
Garrett never thought his New Year's Eve would be so eventful. Skye and Garrett have to come together to fix their lives all while putting out fires. This was a Great book!

Skye and Garrette have a lot to overcome in this second chance and enemies to lovers story. I was so caught up on their beautiful chaos that the outside world didn’t exist for hours at a time.

Their relationship had real world issues and that made the entire story so intimate, so much so I was invested till the very end.

I definitely recommend it.

This was a great second chance romance in the PR world that Elle Wright was built. I enjoyed her first book in the series, and this second one did not disappoint. Skye and Garrett, were steamy and had history. I also appreciated the frank discussion and inclusion of therapy in a romance. So many times I've yelled and screamed for main characters to get help for their issues.

I could not get into this book or the characters. Just could not find myself jazzed up about finishing the book. So, sadly I added it to my DNF.

Skye and Garrett have a history together, and though that history is 10 years old, they have never forgotten each other.
When circumstances lead to them working together because of their clients, will this provide a 2nd chance they both are looking for but not aware.
This was an okay read for me, for the simple reason that I didn’t really understand Skye and her issues. Garrett on the other hand was a perfect hero, good-looking, sexy, understanding and the way he takes care of Skye was so sweet.
I really liked some of the supporting characters, especially Duke, and would love to read his book.

I want to thank NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for sending me an ARC of "The Way You Hold Me" to read and provide an unbiased review. In this case, it was a real treat, as I had previously read Book 1 in Elle Wright's Pure Talent series and had greatly enjoyed. I had high hopes for this book, which readers know, that can be a double edged sword... However, I was not disappointed and found that Wright came back just as strong, if not stronger in this second installment of the series.

"The Way You Hold Me" is a heart string pulling second chance romance between Skye Palmer and Garrett Steele that will leave you feeling all the feels as the pair figures out how to rebuild a relationship they left behind 10 years before when they were too young to know how to face adversity together. Wright perfectly captures the real struggles that many of us face as we second guess ourselves, trying to figure out how to move past the pain and disappointments we have felt in our lives, and answer the granddaddy of all the questions, "What do I really want that will make me happy?" She has managed to get everything in this book that makes the second chance trope wonderful when it is done well. So if it is your yum, you are going to yum this book hard.

Final note, what makes this book shine for me is the amount of care and detail Wright puts into character development. Both of her main characters, but specifically of her supporting cast. She is a master of writing the family and friend units in her worlds. You get to know them as much as her heroine and hero and their play huge roles in who her main characters are at their cores. It is this level of writing that makes the story stay with you and takes it to a solid high 4 star rating for me.

I received this book from NetGalley to review.
This is the second book in the Pure Talent Series and like the first book the author did. not disappoint. Skye and Garret had a relationship a decade ago that went wrong but neither stopped loving each other. They tried very hard at other relations but failed miserably. Skye tested your patience like no one can with her overthinking and Garret knows her like no one else but he’s afraid of putting his heart on the line again.
Facing their issues from the past gets a little tricky but hopefully their love for one another will make them see thru are meant to be forever.
