Skip the Line by James Altucher is a book sharing the author's struggles that lead him to his success, chronicling the failures on the way to the top. The author weaves these stories while also sharing new ways to think and act in your life that will lead to greater fulfillment with less effort.

The tone in this is very energetic and converational making it easier to read. This is a longer book than typical business/self-help books, hitting 434 pages. However the chapters are nice and short making it easy to pick up and put down as you need. The book includes a variety of ideas to implement, some more commonly known like the one percent rule, while there were many I have never heard about. For example, I found the chapter on Idea Calculus very helpful which touches on how to tweak ideas to make them better by asking questions that add, subtract, multiple, divide, etc. One point to make is that sometimes the exercises may be received better by certain identity groups, but I appreciated that the author pointed out that there are a lot of people who will stand in your way but you can experiment to grow past them. Overall I really enjoyed this book and plan on revisiting this book to refresh myself on these ideas!

Many thanks to the publisher Harper Business and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

If not the slightly pushy personality of the author, that would of been a great book about proper attitude towards business, employment and overall life. I still strongly recommend it for business students and future entrepreneurs as a very good material to think over and argue about. You don't need to agree with everything to appreciate the intellectual value of this book.
