Thank you, Netgalley and the author/publisher, for the opportunity to read and review an advanced reader's copy of this book. This in no way affects my review, all opinions are my own.

This one is a 3.5 rounded up to 4. If you ignore the title and go in with the expectation that this is an autobiography, then you will really enjoy this book. If you go in expecting some major revelations about the gates of hell being shaken, then you will be disappointed. The title definitely evokes different expectations than what the book actually delivers. I enjoyed the writing, I enjoyed reading about all the memories of growing up in a Methodist family, and I enjoyed learning more about how the author became who he is now.

This book was such a good read! This is a must have, do not miss, grab it as soon as it's on shelves, type of book. I am always on the look out for a good book that is set in times that aren't familiar for me, and this civil rights book really is a good thing to read, especially in times like we are living in.

This isn't a light hearted read, but I definitely suggest it for those who want to know more about how we got where we are, and what we can do to better our nation. It takes us inside the heart of church, and the lack of response people have, and how much we need to respond differently.
