Beautiful children's book about a lesbian couple who decide to travel around the world and get married in all 28 countries where marriage equality is the law. Based on a true story and beautifully illustrated, the simple story of love conquering all will touch your heart.

What a delightful, beautifully illustrated book! I loved the colorful illustrations that took Julian and Fleur to all of the countries where same sex marriage is legal. The illustrations incorporate local clothing, landmarks, and flags, making this a great teaching tool.

The story itself is heartwarming and explains same sex marriage in a simple way. Love is love. The book also contains only 2-3 sentences for each country, which is perfect to hold a young reader’s attention.

Beautiful and wonderful story. Beautiful illustrations. Need Importance to learn more about lgbtq people. Story about the journey of two women and marrying each other in 28 different countries.

Love is Love! This is a beautiful premise for a book, marrying your soulmate in every country possible. I felt that it would have benefited from a bit more detail about each country, the journey getting there, cultural facts, etc. The illustration was astonishing and the major highlight of the book for me. The description was a bit misleading since it mentioned 28 countries but only covered a portion of them in this book. It would be difficult to give as a gift or recommend to others since it is part of a series.

This is such an amazing short nonfiction illustrated book on LGBTQIA plus representation.

Two women traveling around the world to get married the number of times the number of countries they travel. Such an amazing adventure I would say!

Love the bright, eye-popping artstyle and illustrations.

However, I wish the font size and the font were better in accordance with the colours and art used.

Such an inspirational story!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

This is such a cute picture book. Very colorful, multiculturally engaging, and informative for younger readers. I would imagine this would be perfect for age groups between 2nd and 4th grades.

I did feel confused that the book only talks about 15 out of 28 named countries. This feels rather odd, in a sense, because the author had the opportunity to engage readers with all 28 countries where same sex marriage is legal.

However, I think it’s most meaningful knowing that this was the goal between Fleur and her late wife: to get married in all countries where it’s legal. But sadly this wasn’t completed, as per Fleur’s biography statement. So in a sense this places the book in a confusing area. Is it non-fiction or fiction? A bit of both? How would I and others be able to tell a kid whether this is fiction or non-fiction? Just a little something to reflect on.

I’m giving this 3.5-4 stars for engagement, enjoyability, its multicultural aspects, the colors dispersed throughout the story, and its uniqueness.

A beautifully-illustrated book with a wonderful message. Two women travel the world getting married in each country that permits same-sex marriage. I enjoyed learning about the different customs and adventures they had in the book, which was inspired by a real-lige couple. "Love is love" <3

This is a fantastic book about acceptance and love.

It is one I actively encourage all parents and schools to have available for children as we are all living in a world where the simple concept of Love should be celebrated.

I only hope that one day there will be the opportunity for more same-sex marriages to take place across the world. 🏳️‍🌈

Thank you for the opportunity to review this own voices book. All views are my own given in exchange for an early copy of this book on Netgalley. Reviews will be left on Netgalley and Goodreads, and sometimes on Instagram.

The premise of this book is to educate on the wedding traditions around the world. I found this book to be cute and interesting. I think that the book would benefit from a stronger cohesion, but in the end, I think it's achieved a meaningful and heartfelt story that has a deeper meaning via the author's experiences.

Thank you for sharing your story.

From the first page, with the beautiful bright colours you associate with pride, I knew I would love this book!
Not only does it simply teach children that Love Is Love - regardless of who that other person is, it also teaches you about other countries with a few history facts, plus taps into some countries traditions too.
I am a straight parent, but I think this book is fabulous to teach children that Love really is Love 💗

I so desperately wanted to love this book!
The premise of the book sounded right up my street, and something I deeply believe should be written about more, especially for young people. However, this book just felt all over the place.
The structure was all over the place. It would say where the couple were going to next to get married, but then on the following page it would refer to a completely different country to the once mentioned.
It jumped around alot!

The illustrations were beautiful, and had a really unique style - a style I haven't really seen before.

The lack of plot, and the jumpy-ness of the structure ruined it for me, which I really feel disappointed with as the theme and premise of the book is fantastic. It's just a shame it is so poorly executed, in my opinion.

This book would be wonderful for all children. The writing is simple and easy to understand for all reading levels. This would be a great book for parents to read to their children to provide exposure LGBTQIA+ topics. Additionally the book presents themes of love, acceptance, multiculturalism and goal setting. The illustrations are beautiful and eye-catching

This is so very lovely and wonderful.
I love the simplistic, yet incredible artwork throughout this beautiful book.
I love how the story shows these two women getting married in so many countries. And I enjoyed the little snippets of facts from each country they got married in.
This was so beautiful.

5/5 stars.

Super, super cute! I love how it explores different countries. Love the queer rep. Love that it explains that love is love. And adore the UK page with the kids & the lines about bullying / taking care of each other.

This book is inspired by a true story, where 2 women, Julian and Fleur, are traveling the world to be married in every country that has legalized marriage for same-sex weddings. Volume I had them visiting 13 countries, and Volume II had 15 more.

I really enjoyed this story, because I liked that not only did we see what countries allow same-sex weddings, but there were interesting facts about most of the countries as well. Imagine my surprise when I read up about the author, and found out that Julian passed away after wedding #4. This made the story all the more special, that Fleur is continuing the journey they started together.

While the story is a great read, my kids are a little too young for them to appreciate this story. This would be a great story to hear when they are older and can understand a bit more about the fight that continues on, so that they can appreciate the whole story.

Love is Love is a story of identity and compassion. Well worth the reading experience and well worth the talk that can occur about empathy.

This is a sweet story that traces wedding traditions around the world, while talking about countries that allow gay and lesbian weddings.

Apparently this is based on Fluer and her wife's desire to be married in every country that allows gay weddings, but Julian was diagnosed with cancer after real world wedding number 4, and died soon after, so they were not able to complete this journey in real life, but continued in this and an earlier picture book.

Not sure if kids will get what is going on, other than these two women are traveling around the world, but the pictures are lovely, and the wedding traditions are neat to learn just a little about.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

Beautiful illustrations and packed with a lot of nice information about each country visited. I enjoyed that it wasn’t overwhelming or overly heavy, but kept to the focus of the book which is love is love.

Love is Love by Fleur Pierets was a book I would recommend to teachers and to parents for their children and students! The illustrations are bright and impressive, but, it also shares important messages and information. It, not only, presents a non-nuclear marriage, but it also shares information about different cultures regarding the rights of same-sex couples. I think this book is educational and continues the important task of illustrating the concept of “love is love.”
