I liked the premise of this book and thought the story was an interesting one. However I found the dialogue to be a bit too simplistic and insipid. It was also just quotes on the page with no indication of the speaker or how they were engaging with each other. I almost didn’t finish this but stuck with it as the idea for the plot was good. At the end it seemed to just stop even though there was some attempt to say what the four women/queens learned about them selves. The “queen” part didn’t even happen until nearly the end and felt like a small after-note thrown in. I received this ARC of #fourqueensquesting from #netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This story follows 4 women who turn up at a British castle that has been turned into a language school - they have a variety of roles (to teach English to foreign students, artist in residence etc)
Each is at a turning point in their lives and I guess this is supposed to be the story of “finding themselves” but I am afraid that I read the whole book and was still waiting for something to happen/ to get to the point. It was odd, there were storylines that made no sense (eg the castle ghosts)

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book free from the published via NetGalley. Whilst thanks go to the publisher for the opportunity to read it, all opinions are my own.

this was a fun read, the characters were great and I really enjoyed reading this book. I'd be interesting in reading more from the author.

I loved the premise of this book but the writing style never allowed me to see and feel the experiences of the characters.
