I always love the Crosswhite series and this was another winner! This was an amazing story that was well written from the start to finish. I’m glad that I got to read this and I loved the new cold case aspect, I can’t wait to see how it plays out in future stories. I was able to relate a lot to Tracy as I’m a new mom myself so it was refreshing to read about real struggles, parenting and new responsibilities.

In Her Tracks by Robert Dugoni is such a good book. It's a riveting, mind-blowing, page-turning, heart-breaking, and heart-warming mystery from page 1. I couldn't read the book fast enough. I'm a huge fan of the Tracy Crosswhite books and all of Dugoni's books, for that matter. Each book is done so well.

Dugoni is masterful in creating characters and a story that has a reader laughing, crying, and racing to find out what will happen next.

The plots are done expertly and always have a jaw-dropping surprise. The only bad thing about the book is that I get sad when I come to the end of the story because I just want to keep reading about the characters and their adventures.

Please keep these books coming! One of my favorite writers and storytellers.

First of all, thank you NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an opportunity to read and give feedback for "In her Tracks". This is book 8, I have read all eight. Tracy Crosswhite is a smart, strong detective. This particular book gives you two mysteries for Tracy to solve, throw in some turmoil in the department and off we went. Missing young woman and a cold case of a missing 5 year old child and two prostitutes. Robert Dugoni outdid himself with this one. I know it's a good book if I am thinking about it while doing other things. It's always icing on the cake for me if an author can throw me a curve ball. Love that! I would recommend this book (along with the other seven) to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review -
Dugoni never disappoints! Once again he has written a thrilling page turner!
Tracy is assigned to cold cases - the first case is a 5 year old who disappeared while playing hide and seek in a corn maze with her daddy. The couple is in a bitter divorce. So questions are there - who would take the girl? why? Will they find her? Is she alive?
And then another case comes - a young girl disappears while jogging. This reminds Tracy so much of when her sister disappeared.
In questioning things are uncovered which leads to a shocking house of secrets and horrors. Will they find the girl alive? Why was she taken? Be prepared to stay up all night to find the answers!!! This was a great book!

In Her Tracks is the the 8th installment in the Tracy Crosswhite series, and as the previous 7, it is an excellent read! I highly recommend this series and will continue to look out for more of Robert Dugoni's books.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the advanced read!

Another hit from the author. A series that gets better with each book. Full of mystery and suspense with enough twists to keep the reader turning from page to page. This is a book which I would recommend to others.

A big thank you to NetGalley, as well as Thomas & Mercer publishing for this free advance copy in return for an honest review. For his 8th Tracy Crosswhite mystery, the author tackles missing children, Cold Cases, and some truly nasty people involved in kidnapping and abuse. For me this is the first time I have read this popular author and it certainly will not be the last.
The story begins 5 years prior to today when Seattle Police Officer, Bobby Chin takes his five year old daughter, Elle, to a local corn maze and when the lights go out he loses the child. This is every parents fear, that something over which they have no control will rob them of their child.
Dugoni then shifts to present day when detective Tracy Crosswhite reports for duty after having taken time off for the birth of her daughter. Upon her return she discovers that her position among the detectives has been taken and she is forced to basically choose between retirement or working Cold Cases, a difficult decision but one that is made a bit easier after her interaction with the retiring detective working those cases.
Once those basics are worked out, we become immersed in the case of a missing lady jogger, as well as Crosswhite’s decision to try and solve the Elle Chin disappearance. We also get to experience how Crosswhite deals with her work-related separation from her daughter, as well as her psychological issues that came to the fore in a prior book.
Prior events from these past books play a big part in Crosswhite’s handling of matters, and so if you are just jumping into this series you are a bit lost as to all that had transpired in the prior books, but it is not a fatal flaw just one helps us understand the issues she faces while dealing with lost children, cold cases and the missing jogger.
The author moves seamlessly between cases, and does a wonderful job of helping the reader feel the tension that surrounds a missing persons case, the agony of dealing with Cold Cases, and the predators who are involved in the kidnapping and abuse. He even shows how 3 brothers have been affected by their abusive father and how that abuse leads to their current problems as well as one brother abusing his other two siblings.
There are lots of twists and turns in this book and it turns out that not everything is as easily solved as it first appears. Also, all of the abuse and torture appears outside of the book so that there are no really squeamish parts of this book.
A fast and fascinating read, this book should really please all of Dugoni’s fans and, if you have just discovered Dugoni as I have, this book will certainly bring him a host of new readers who will scramble to read the first seven books in this series. Originally posted at mysteryandsuspense.com

A major page turner! One of the best Tracy Crosswhite instalments yet. I adore this series, from the lovable characters to the fantastic storylines to the amazing writing. This book was everything I expected and more. Nail biting suspense, twist and turns galore and one heck of a finale. This was a unique book where you have the perps perspective in some chapters, writing from their point of view. But as with most fantastic thrillers you don’t know the whole story until the very end. Loved the plot twist in this and the brutal finale. This one is a must read!

This is the latest Tracy Crosswhite book, and it is exceptional, as are the others. In this story, Tracy has returned to the force after maternity leave, and finds she is reassigned to the Cold Case files. Not thrilled with this turn of events, Tracy digs in and does her professional best, as always, and knocks it out of the ballpark. The plot and characters are well developed, characters appear very real, the story clear and not vague, and there are many interesting twists and turns, and a couple of them I did not see coming. While Tracy Crosswhite is a series, all of the books can be read as stand alone. Highly recommend if you like crime and procedural stories. Five stars!
Thank you to Robert Dugoni, Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Tracy Crosswhite is an amazing Seattle detective. I have followed her from her very first appearance in Robert Dugoni's novels. In this installment Tracy has just returned from an extended maternity leave after giving birth to her daughter, Daniella.
Arriving back at the station she finds herself assigned from her old squad to a new position as the department's cold case detective. At first put out by the reassignment, Tracy quickly gets her hooks into 3 cases. In her usual zeal, while helping her old partner, she solves 2 cold cases. A 3rd cold case posits some very interesting possibilities. Tracy doggedly pursues every possible angle and discovers that the crime may not have been a crime after all.
Very grateful to have been able to read this ahead of publication!

A big Thank You!!!!, to Netgalley and the publisher for my early access of In Her Tracks by Robert Dugoni and Thomas & Mercer publishing. All opinions in this review are my own honest opinion. If you do not agree, it's ok! :) We all are are own people. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes Mystery & Thrillers. I have read ALL the Tracy Crosswhite books and couldn't wait to get my hands on this one too. After returning from her extended maternity leave due to the outcome of the previous book Tracy finds herself being reassigned to cold cases. This is when she finds the file of a missing 5yr old girl, that then leads her into juggling other case with is an active investigation with her former partner Kins involving missing young women. Sensitive issues arise, but so does in all of his books. The epilogue really did end things neatly.

Detective Tracy Crosswhite returns to work after a long break for maternity and other reasons. She finds her desk occupied and her job given to another woman. Her boss offers her the lead in the Cold Case Squad. Reluctantly, Tracy takes it. Her first cases are the missing Elle Chin, a five-year-old that has been missing for five years and two missing prostitutes.

Her former partner, Kinsington “Kins” Rowe asks for Tracy's help in his own missing person case. Nineteen-year-old Stephanie Cole was jogging when she disappeared.

Elle's parents, Jewel is a self-obsessed woman while Bobby is a Seattle police officer, were going through a very bitter divorce when Elle disappeared. Bobby was taking his daughter to the corn maze at a Halloween park when the abduction (?) happened.

Tract deftly juggles the two cases, with the Stephanie case seeming to take priority. There are three brothers living in a house down the street from the park where the jogger went missing. Tracy and Kins get odd vibes off of them. Then they catch them in lies. A helpful neighbor and his little dog tell what they saw.

This is a non-stop investigation. Tracy scuttles from place to place interviewing and talking to assorted people. She has her suspicions. When it becomes clear where Stephanie might be – hopefully she is still alive – Tracy contact the local police department and takes off to the location.

She also successfully discovers what happened to Elle on that Halloween visit with her father.

This is a very well written and plotted novel. In spite of the three investigations, the pace is good and the transitions are very well done. The reader also gets to learn the story from the perpetrator's point of view. I like Tracy, and was glad to see that she is slowing down – if only a little. I liked Kins too. The characters in this book are very real and I could picture them while they were being interviewed and going about their business. There are some surprises to discover. I like the way Mr. Dugoni just casually snuck them in the story.

I want to thank NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for forwarding to me a copy of this book for me to read, enjoy and review.

After maternity leave, detective Tracy Crosswhite is transferred to Cold Cases. She starts to investigate a 5 years old case, little Elle is still missing and it seems that her parents are involved. Tracy also helps Violent Crimes team when young runner dissapears from a park.
Are the cases somehow connected?
As young mother, Tracy has to juggle between family and very demanding job.

Very dark and stunning novel, I loved it.

I have just finished reading Robert Dugoni's truly exceptional book, The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell, and found myself fortunate enough to receive an ARC from NetGalley for the author's upcoming book. In Her Tracks is the 8th book in the author's Tracy Crosswhite series. Tracy is a detective for the Seattle Police Department. I had not read any of the previous Tracy Crosswhite books and found that In Her Tracks can be enjoyed on its own without having previous exposure to the series.

In this book, Tracy returns from a leave of absence and finds that she is being reassigned to cold cases, which she somewhat reluctantly accepts. She begins to work on a cold case involving the disappearance of a five-year-old girl. While working on this case, she is called on to help with a new case involving the apparent abduction of a young woman, who had been out running after work when last seen. In the case of the five-year-old girl, what happened to her is a true mystery. In the new case, the reader seemingly knows who was responsible for the abduction, but Tracy needs to find the proof.

Though the book opens with the cold case involving the little girl, the current case involving the abduction of the young woman becomes the main focus of the book.

This is a solid read with some surprises. Tracy Crosswhite is quite an appealing character. The author proves his versatility, not locked into one genre.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Detective Tracy Croswhite returns to work but is reassigned to the cold case unit. She is drawn to a case where a five year old girl went missing around Halloween. Her old partner asked for assistance with a woman who went missing while running. This book kept me guessing until the very end. I cant wait to read Robert Dugoni's next book.

Another great story in this saga. A bit different than the past in that there was less team involvement. I still enjoyed the story and found the mystery to be a good one with twists and turns. It would read fine alone.

Cold Cases and DNA: the Perfect Pair

Fantastic read! I had a hard time putting this one down and would wake in the middle of the night with my mind still in the middle of the story (which of course gave me ample time to read). This is my first Tracy Crosshair book and also first read by the author, I’m already making plans to find the rest of the series! I’m sure I don’t have to tell fans of the series not to miss reading this one, but seriously...do not miss reading this one!

I really related to Tracy on multiple levels but especially being a mother myself with a toddler and a new one on the way. Having a character like Tracy who is learning to balance family life on top of a new assignment in the cold case division, makes her a totally believable character. Cole Cases are some of the most interesting cases out there, the only unfortunate thing is how many of them go unsolved or cold in the first place. Tracy brought a new perspective and fresh eyes to work towards solving them. I especially appreciated the epilogue, nice final touch.

Robert Dugoni's In Her Tracks features my favorite Violent Crime Officer, Traci Crosswhite. While the pervious books had a focus on her family (and Faz!!!) this novel follows Traci as she navigates her new role as a Cold Case detective. Several cases become intertwined as she follows the leads in her cold case, but they could also impact her old team. The camaraderie is fantastic with her peers. Mr. Dugoni stays true to Traci and her quest to never forget her sister... whilst raising Daniella... and all the emotions that get wrapped around her. You don't have to have read the entire series to enjoy this book - it's fabulous on its own.

After an extended leave at home, Detective Tracy Crosswhite finds she has been reassigned to the Cold Case Unit at Seattle P.D. She immediately becomes caught up in the case of a missing 5 year old girl, whose parents were first believed to have had something to do with her disappearance. While trying to uncover the truth, an the whereabouts of the missing child, her old partner, Kingston brings her on board in an active case, the disappearance of a young woman from a local park. Now, with two missing females to trace, Tracy finds herself torn between her job and her own child. Could there be a link between these two cases?
