This book was cute but felt a bit disjointed to me, and I didnt relate to the characters. It was enjoyable in a need-something-light-to-read kind of way, but I dont think it’ll be a title i recommend much.

This book has so many good reviews, and I thought that I would enjoy it like everyone else. However, this book was just not entertaining to me. I did end up DNFing (Did Not Finish) the book around 30% of the way through the story. I could not connect with the characters or the writing at all.

Thanks for reading!

This book fell kinda flat because I was expecting more of a romance and not really a life story or any of that blah blah stuff that a lot of contemporary books about women contain. Dgmw that’s not an issue but personally I just snooze

An adorable dog on the cover? This book definitely seemed up my alley. Suzy is left with the fallout of her husband's off dreams and happens to find a stray dog on her doorstep. Ricky is also in town, left to handle his dad, and manages to stumble upon the same dog. Will they share the dog? Will the two spark romantic chemistry and live with the dog forever? That is for the reader to discover.

The Dog Share is told in two points of view: Ricky and Suzy. There were times where the flip of point of view made sense. However; I yearned for more of Ricky's story and his backstory. The beginning of the story was slow and could have been told with less detail and more spark. I was hoping for more of a romantic comedy read as that is what I garnered from the title and summary. However; this book is more of a realistic fiction tale of two lives that become connected by a dog.

Fans of Fiona Gibson and British literature will love this novel! For me, this book fell flat but it will not stop me from checking out other Fiona books. Perhaps, there is another novel of hers out there waiting for me to love.

Enjoyed this book very much. It has some unexpected twists to lift it well out of the usual boy-meets-girl. The characters tell their own stories and their individual voices are well done. And it has a cute dog who rises above a difficult start to be loved by and love everybody.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as the plot of the novel wasn't solely based on Suzy's romantic relationships but focused on her struggles and how she worked to overcome them. This is rather the tale of how a stray dog named Scout brought an interesting cast of characters together on a small Scottish Island.

A lovely book about how a stray dog can change the lives of those connected with him. A sweet story that I really enjoyed,.

This book was given to me via NetGalley as an e-copy. This is my first Fiona Gibson read and it will definitely not be the last. I rated it a 4 on good reads, but If the option was available I would have given 4.5.
If you are an animal lover this book is for you!! This book was set on an island that had a stray dog who pulled several of the characters together. Scout was of course my favorite and one of the main reasons I chose this book. He began cheering up Suzy and later made friends with the rest of group. Suzy attempts to clean up a mess that her ex has dumped in her lap. She never gives up. A little romance occurred but mainly its about everyone growing and finding their place in life. This heartwarming story will leave you wanting more.

This is an amazing book that left me feeling so happy and content. All of the characters were easy to get to know and having an adorable scruffy dog won my heart from the beginning. I really enjoyed reading a book were the main characters weren’t in their 20’s. These people have lived a solid part of their lives and have experienced loss and love. The setting was beautiful and I would love to go and spend a month in a cottage, wandering around at my own pace. I could see a lot of me in Suzy and I loved how she took the bull by the horns and did what was right for the distillery. An all round lovely book that I thoroughly enjoyed and a much needed lightness that I need in my life right now. Thank you to Netgalley and Ellie Pilcher of Avon Books for allowing me to read this book.

The thing about this romance, is that it isn't so much a romance, as a woman finding herself, with a little bit of romance on the side.

Which is what I liked about it. If this had been just about sucking face, I would have gotten bored in an instant, ad I don't' really like most romances. But this was a woman coming into her own, and the man who was also coming into his own, and they ended up sharing a dog, about half way through the book.

I also like this because these are both people who have been around the block several times, with kids. And since I am an older adult, I appreciate this.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

A very sweet, enjoyable read about starting over, love, and - of course - a dog. I very much enjoyed reading it - though I found it interesting that despite the switching perspective between Suzy and Ricky, they did not meet until later in the story. And the dog sharing aspect comes up even later! Again, an enjoyable read, but the blurb does not accurately portray the bulk of the story, which is Suzy's experiences running and saving the distillery.

I really enjoyed this book. Suzy is stuck. She is talked into buying a distillery on an island. Then of course her boyfriend leaves everything and her when its not going well. While trying to figure things out on the beach island, she finds a dog at her door. The dog helps her find friends and helpfulness on the island.
I really enjoyed how even though things were so tough at times, the main character went with it. She tried to her best to stand up and fix situations. I liked how it all cam together in the end.

This was an enjoyable book, and as my first Fiona Gibson read, a good introduction to her writing.

The story went on a little longer than I was expecting, and perhaps longer than necessary, but it was fun and engaging nonetheless.

It's a definite slow burn - the love interests don't even meet till half way through the book - which may not be for everyone. I was not entirely convinced by the romance once it begun - I almost felt that it could have been skipped entirely, without changing too much of the story.

Regardless, The Dog Share is well written with a loveable cast of characters and a beautiful setting, and I'm sure many will love this.

I really wanted to enjoy this book, but for some unexplainable reason I just couldn’t? I don’t know, probably because I couldn’t relate to the characters at all or because the story was too slow to progress? Nevertheless, I still liked some aspects; one is the relationship dynamics of both the main characters with their children, and second is the dog. I loved Scout just as much as how the people around him also loved him. This was a good book that wasn’t just for me, but probably will be enjoyed by some more people. Even though this book wasn’t for me, I still look forward to reading more books by Fiona Gibson in the future that I will hopefully enjoy.

Thank you so much to Avon Books UK and Netgalley for providing me an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another good read from Fiona Gibson. I did, however, find the beginning somewhat slow and, at that point, didn't take to the situation or the characters, it was almost like two books. Once the book developed, together with the characters it was a really enjoyable read. The thought of escaping to a Scottish Island in this day and age was quite appealing and I though some of the peripheral characters could have been developed further. Overall a good read and an escape with a degree of cosiness.

Warm, witty & fun. You’ll be cheering on Suzy every page. A story about second chances, re-finding yourself and friendship ( and whiskey ). Scout seems like the perfect companion. Another brilliant book by Fiona Gibson.

The dog share by Fiona Ginson is a book about starting over and happiness even in unlikely situations.
The dog who was named scout was what really brought the the whole story together, he provided happy and joyous scenes from each character. However, the main characters did not meet until aboht halfway through the book, so it had a slower start than what i’m used to. it was a slow burn for sure. Other than that, it was a nice and quick read with a beautiful setting.

I'm struggling writing this review, because I want to be as fair as possible. I will start with what I liked about this book: I loved Scout (the dog) and I loved how the novel explored pets and the role they play in our lives. However, I have to say this book was a bust for me. Partly, I think it is my fault. I came into this book expecting something a little different than what I got. I was really expecting something of the romantic comedy vibe, and that wasn't what this was. It wasn't bad, just different. Unfortunately, this really hindered my reading experience though and I found myself tuning out and not able to connect to the characters. Plus, the book starts very slow. All in all, not my cup of tea.

*2.5

I felt as though this book had such a slow start and I don’t think it ever really “picked up”. The two main characters didn’t cross paths until about 55% into the book. I did enjoy how the dog brought joy to everyone he knew! Other than the dog, I didn’t feel a personal contention to any of the characters.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this advanced readers copy!
