Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert is the third book featuring one of the Brown sisters and it doesn’t disappoint. Not only is it charming and cute, but it was a fast read. The pacing kept the book zipping along and I was rooting for Eve and Jacob to end up together.

Eve is a round-cheeked, purple-haired woman who can’t find a way to settle down into a career she likes. The rest of her family is hyper-focused and accomplished, but she’s fallen into the trap of being the baby of the family and that means she has a fear of failing that makes her give up even before she’s really tried her best.

Jacob is a high-cheekboned, skinny guy who has trouble connecting with people (he has trouble reading social cues, and being autistic makes it more difficult). He’s sunk all of his money into a bed and breakfast but his cook left and he’s having trouble hiring someone new.

Enter Eve who was told off by her family for giving up on her new career (she was going to be a wedding planner but that expanded to a party planner). She makes a dramatic exit and drives a county over (this is set in the UK so I’m not sure how far that is but she was driving for about an hour). It’s there that she stumbles on the interviews going on.

The author is super skilled at making the reader relate to both Eve and Jacob and there were no real places where a simple conversation would have solved all of their relationship woes. In fact, they showed each other their real selves and it made them so relatable that by the time they slept together, I was rooting for them. Readers don’t actually have to read the other Brown sisters' books to enjoy this one (though they’re really good so you should).

I LOVED this book. I think I enjoyed it even more than the previous two.
I particularly appreciate its representation of neurodivergence. Unlike unlike most romances who feature this type of "quirky" heroine Eve is never infantilized nor are her struggles reduced to childlike character traits. it has some resemblance to a coming of age novel as Eve comes into her own recognizing and accepting both her own strengths and weaknesses, supported and helped by the love interest without it being thanks to him. He's an interesting and complex character on his own, his autism represented kindly and neutrally, missing the common pitfalls of media representation without blunting his edges.

Talia Hibbert is a genius. She's created the perfect family, complete with flaws and problems, but filled with love.

Eve Brown is a joyful delight and her story was so spot on. I loved her growth as a character and how she found that she could trust herself. Jacob was such a pickly pear, and I loved him too. I highly enjoyed this final book from the Brown sisters and it's definitely a series I'll be rereading!

As always, I had no doubt that I'd love this installment of the Brown sisters and I was not wrong. I related to Eve so much-- her indecisiveness in finding her passions in life, wanting to live up to those she loves expectations, her quirks and just EVERYTHING. The love story between her and Jacob made my heart melt, them finding someone who wholly understands the other and they worked so well together. This read felt like being wrapped in a blanket.

I absolutely LOVE this author and her Brown sister’s series!! I was so excited to have been given Eve’s story! It was an amazing read with opposites attracts, sexiness, real feels, & acceptance! I couldn’t have asked for a better read! Eve Brown is the 3rd sister who had to grow up in order to get her trust fund....and she sets out to do just that! Eve finds a job at a B & B as a chef ran by a grumpy Jacob. These two have great chemistry and banter for days!! I love that both of them are on the spectrum and how they work so perfectly together as a couple! I also adore the grumpy hero and sunshiny heroine aspect! It’s all so wonderful!! This book was just AMAZING!! I can’t wait to see what’s next for this author!!

While funny, parts of it drug on. I found myself skimming through. I little racy in parts . I did order for library, but not sure how my patrons will feel about it.

Swoon-worthy grumpy/sunshine goodness! I absolutely adored reading this finale to the Brown sisters series. Talia Hibbert consistently keeps knocking it out of the park and I'm here for it. <3

Ahhh! I absolutely LOVED this one. It was super cute -- and Eve and Jacob had so much chemistry. I also love the fact that this is kind of an enemies to lovers story with Jacob completely pushing Eve away in the beginning. So, it made their love story even sweeter once the couple did start to fall for each other.

Eve struggles sticking with a job. She doesn’t know exactly what she wants out of life so anytime something gets difficult she moves on. With her latest attempt, wedding planning, crashes and burns, her parents are frustrated with her and eager for her to finally settle down. So, they give her an ultimatum. Eve, upset, leaves and finds herself at a B&B which happens to be hiring, so she takes her shot.

I have yet to read Dani’s story, but as of right now, this is my favorite book in the trilogy. I loved getting to know Eve. There was so much to her that I could relate too. I also loved her empathic nature. She really did care for people and had such an empathic nature. I wanted to be her friend, but also felt like we’d both never be friends because how in the world do you actually make friends?

Jacob was so comfortable with his autism diagnosis and that was beautiful to see! I don’t feel like I’ve ever seen that before and I can only imagine how that is going to be such a light for so many people. The passion he had for the B&B and how determined he was to make sure his guests were comfortable was so beautiful. It was so easy to fall in love with him.

I loved this book so much. I found myself smiling like a fool more often than not. Eve and Jacob were chefs kiss together. They were such a beautiful grumpy and sunshine pairing that I don’t know if I was just starved for this trope or this one really was just perfect. These two worked so well together. They really complemented one another and were very considerate of one another. It was beautiful and really I could read a lot more about them.

Act Your Age, Eve Brown is the third, and final, book in The Brown Sisters series by Talia Hibbert. It’s also one of my most anticipated reads for early 2021, and I’m so thrilled to have finally read it! Though reading this book was a little bittersweet, as I was excited to read Eve’s story, but I also didn’t want the series to come to an end. This series has quickly become one of my favorites, and I’m so thrilled to have added a favorite new author to my growing list!

As I mentioned above, Act Your Age, Eve Brown is the third book in this wonderful series and is about the youngest Brown sister, Eve. We got to know Eve a little bit in Chloe and Dani’s books, and I definitely wanted to know more about this youngest sister. Eve is a bit all over the place when we first meet her in the story… giving up on yet another career that she had just started, and pushing her parents to give her an ultimatum; find a job and stick with it for a year, or be cut off from her trust fund. When she goes out on a drive to figure out what to do, she stumbles upon a charming bed and breakfast, run by a somewhat grumpy owner, Jacob, and hilarity ensues.

Eve and Jacob were SO CUTE together! Despite their rocky first meeting, I just knew that they were going to be a great couple. And they were! I enjoyed watching their relationship grow throughout the book so much, especially as Jacob learned to trust Eve, which was not an easy thing for him to do. I also enjoyed watching Eve become more responsible and find the job that she loved. The storyline for this book was super cute as well. And I love that the story is told from alternate viewpoints, so we got to see things from both Eve and Jacob’s perspectives. (I am a huge fan of this, and definitely need more books to be written this way.)

I also really, really enjoyed getting to see the characters from the previous books as well. It’s always so nice to get to catch up with them, even if just for a little bit. There were also some interesting new characters as well, and I have my fingers crossed that maybe a few of them will get their own series in the future!

Overall; Act Your Age, Eve Brown was the perfect ending to this wonderful series! I am so sad to see the series ending, but am already planning to re-read it soon, and will definitely be checking out more of Talia’s books ASAP! (And if she just happened to want to write a series about two awesome twins and their brother, I would totally be on board to read it!)

Another solid Talia Hibbert book...A good end to the trilogy, though this was probably my least favorite of the three, Eve makes a path for herself and as we have all come to rely on Hibbert, she delivers in a feisty protagonist and funny moments.

I enjoyed this book. It was clever and fun. The characters were lovable and and the romance swoon worthy and cute. The chemistry and humor are bubbly and effervescent. I loved it!!

The final book in the delightful Brown sisters series follows Eve Brown, the cheerful but chaotic sister to Dani and Chloe. Eve is a bit of a free spirit and has a track record of abandoning jobs with little to no notice. Her family however has grown tired of her antics and removes her financial support until she can hold down a position for a year, which is quite the task for the flighty Eve. On a lark, Eve applies for an open chef position at the Castell Cottage Bed and Breakfast, a position she has very little training or experience for. Jacob the owner of the bed and breakfast is less that impressed with Eve however as they are desperate for a chef, he decides to give her a trail run. Before he can deliver the good news however he is run down by none other than Eve herself. In an effort to make amends, Eve promises to help out Jacob by essentially taking over many of his duties at the bed and breakfast in addition to learning her new role as chef, as they prepare for the upcoming Pemberton ginger festival. She finds she is quite good at the job, and even enjoys in, although she soon learns that housekeeping is not her strong point. As the pair work closely together, they start to form a bond and a strong attraction for one another. Can Jacob let go of his fear of abandonment and learn to trust Eve, who has a none too stellar track record with commitment
Act Your Age, Eve Brown was a delightful read from start to finish and was the perfect ending to a stellar trilogy. Talia Hibbert is en expert at crafting real characters with plenty of personality and baggage that reflect the diverse society we live in. Eve and Jacob while complete opposites in many respects are both on the Autism spectrum and watching these two neuro-diverse individuals grow and interact with one another was fascinating and heart warming. It was clear they were able to understand one another on a deeper level, something that provided quite a bit of healing and growth after a lifetime of disappointment and misunderstanding. Eve's sunny flighty character perfectly balanced out Jacob's orderly and quiet demeanor and their relationship was steamy and sweet. Act Your Age, Eve Brown perfectly balances the snarky humor and humorous antics with some deeper issues such as abandonment and anxiety, all while never losing the overall charm throughout. I highly recommend readers who are new to the series read each of the books in the Brown sister's trilogy as they are all thoroughly enjoyable.

Genuinely Hilarious!
I'm very sceptical of contemporary feel good romance these days but man this one was so good! I was in a fit of giggles through most of the story and at one point I was laughing so hard it hurt and had real tears. Seriously have to put the book down because you can't breathe laughing. The storyline was amazing. It was so easy to read. The characters were so loveable and cute. The Atypical Rep seemed very respectful and supportive. I will definitely be picking up the first two books in the series. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys adult romance.

I enjoyed the first two books so I was really excited about Eve. While the characters were fun and quirky, I just felt like the story was slightly blah. It was fine but just kind of seemed like nothing happened. I was entertained, but it wasn’t one I will remember.

Another great story about the Brown sisters. Even though Eve’s story wasn’t my favorite of the series (I loved Dani so much!) I still had a great time reading this book.

Eve, the youngest Brown sister, is like a storm in a teacup. Bouncing from job to job, leaving chaos in her wake, she feels like a constant disappointment to her parents - especially when compared to her amazing older sisters. After a disastrous turn as a wedding planner (those doves needed to be liberated) her parents give Eve an ultimatum - find a job, keep it for a year, or the trust fund gets cut off. So that's exactly what Eve does, presenting herself for an impromptu job interview at a B&B. Owner Jacob, all order and sensibility, isn't taken in by Eve's rashness - however, an accidental car accident leaves Jacob at the mercy of Eve and both of them may learn that they're more similar than they think.

I'm always completely enamoured by Talia Hubert's writing style. She always manages to be incredibly inclusive without it taking over the plot. Jacob is autistic, but it never feels gratuitous - in fact, it feels incredibly supportive and loving. Like a hug in a book, she makes the reader feel safe and included. She's also so funny. There were many favorable parts about this story but it wasn't enough for me to fall for the characters.

Rating: 4.5
Delightful story about two quirky and interesting people who grow from misunderstanding each other to learning that they fit together like puzzle pieces. First half of the book concentrates on the development of Eve, as she learns who she is and finally trusts in her abilities. She and Jacob are well crafted characters and you root for them in the best ways. Eve brings sunshine into your life as you read about her caring for the guest of the BnB while singing the song in her heart.

After about half way into the book the plot turns to the development of a physical relationship between the two MC, and I have to say, I was disappointed at the shift in focus. I was caught up in the growth of Eve and felt like that thread was abandoned.

Thrilled that the female MC character arc did not end with a marriage proposal, but a promotion!

Reader Advisory: Although a series, each book can be read as a stand alone, but you'll want to read them all eventually. Best to start at the beginning, but not necessary.
