I love Peter Swanson. And this one...wow!
Very different than I anticipated, but then also not.
Grabbed me from the get-go and it was unputdownable.
It's hard to even talk about it without giving it away!!

Abigail finally met the right guy...or maybe the mostly right guy. Though she has a few apprehensions, she chalks it up to wedding jitters. She can live forever with him. It doesn't hurt that Bruce is a MILLIONAIRE.
But then coincidences start to feel like something much more sinister...and then the ride begins.

Great fast paced book.

I have read almost all of Peter Swanson's books (I just haven't read The Girl with a Clock for a Heart). Some are okay, but some are amazing. This is one of the amazing ones, even though it was so outrageous. Very different from his other books because the book eventually hit a point that didn't seem realistic. It reminded me of The Most Dangerous Game. So yes, even though it was outrageous and unrealistic, I couldn't put it down. I was super freaked out, and there were multiple twists. It was extremely well written. I'm still in awe, and I finished it last night. I mean, I guess you could say it's a bit realistic because if you have money... you can pretty much do what you want. But still. I just can't say enough about how entertaining and awesome this book was.

Abigail Baskin has found her true love when she met Bruce Lamb. They are engaged and the bachelorette party is in full swing. Abigail meets a stranger and things begin to change. A one night stand ensued and now Abigail must decide if she should tell Bruce. The man used a fake name as though he didn’t want to br found or so it seemed. He showed up one day and told Abigail that they should be together. Abigail is days away from her marriage and honeymoon. She must decide if she should come clean to Bruce. Just then things start to happen that will challenge the way she sees things, like the woman in the shadows that only she sees. Can she figure it out in time? I adore Peter Swansons writing style. His characters are descriptive and fluid. The plot is one that would be easily relatable and is a very fast paced read. I have read all of his books so far and this one is by far the best yet.

Imagine you're on your honeymoon, at a secluded woodland island resort, with no access to the internet or your cell phone. Sound like a nightmare? You have no idea. We meet Abigail and Bruce, newly married. Through flashbacks, we learn about Abigail's past, focusing on her relationships, and learn that she cheated on Bruce during her bachelorette weekend with a stranger, "Scott." Scott keeps popping up, even though he's from the other side of the country, and Abigail is horrified to find him at the resort during her honeymoon.

Full of suspense, this novel had great potential and is completely bonkers (mostly in a good way.) Abigail has no idea who to trust, and as the story progresses, I was imagining all these horrifying scenarios in my head. Unfortunately, Swanson goes with the most basic, obvious choice and I felt a little let down. Don't get me wrong- this whole honeymoon is a nightmare (starting with the location- an island that isn't tropical?!? hard pass) and he really does a good job of creating atmosphere and suspense, I just felt a little let down. I didn't particularly like any of the characters either, which never helps.

Every Vow You Break is a super easy, quick read, I finished it in a little over a day. I will definitely be checking out Peter Swanson's other novels, as I've heard good things.

I LOVE Peter Swanson. His book The Kind Worth Killing is in my top 5 favorite books. This book is a close second. 5 stars from me.
Abigail is engaged to Bruce, an extremely wealthy, yet awkward man. He is kind, loving, reliable and a good person all around. The beginning takes you through Abigail’s background, family, exes and then hops back to present day. While she is on her bachelorette party weekend, she makes a mistake after drinking too much and ditching her girlfriends.
The guy ends up showing up in NYC all the way from CA. He is basically a Stage 5 Clinger.
The book takes you through the perfect wedding and then a honeymoon some can only dream of.

I felt the book was a little slow t first but once they got to the honeymoon island - it really picked up fast.
If you like slow burn psychological thrillers, you will love this one.
The only thing I didn’t like - I read it too fast because I couldn’t put it down but also didn’t want it to end.

Great ending too - not one that leaves you wondering about a bunch of loose ends.

How long till his next book? I will be waiting impatiently!

I love Peter Swanson’s books and Every Vow You Break is another brilliant read. His writing style is easy, fast-paced and with enough description to drop you right into the action.

Abigail Baskin, who works for a small press, is enjoying her bachelorette weekend. Engaged to generous, solicitous Bruce Lamb, she seems to have found her Prince Charming. Though he maybe a little dour, he’s loaded and nothing is too much for Abigail. But when she meets a handsome stranger and decides on a one-night stand days before her wedding, her life begins to unravel. Desperately trying to push the ill-fated night out of her mind, she continues with her wedding plans. But the stranger appears at a café and at the wedding ceremony. To make matters worse, he is also staying at the same island retreat as Abigail and Bruce. Evil keeps knocking at her door.

The island itself is every man’s dream. Waiters ready (rather too ready) to take her order no matter where she was and at first Abigail is outnumbered by men. A woman shows up and begins to get a little too friendly, whispering the same frightening scenarios as Abigail’s. Something isn’t right and she’s definitely someone I would hold at arm’s length. Who wants to share a secret like that? As the tension rises, Abigail is swept on a tide of deception and secrets she has no hope of escaping. It’s a question of coming clean with her husband or getting rid of the threat on her own.

This is a book I couldn’t put down. Not so much for its uniqueness, but because the ride was cleverly written and because everybody seemed to have something to hide. As the plot unravels and more strange things begin to occur, you can’t help feeling you’ve been deceived somewhere along the line, and not necessarily by the person you thought.

A suspenseful murder mystery for lovers of classic crime fiction and fans of Patricia Highsmith. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher William Morrow and the author Peter Swanson for the privilege of reading this book.

A solid thriller that was especially creepy! The premise is very different than his previous books, but I his voice as an author comes through just the same, which I love. His writing is so smooth and fluent--if the endings packed a bit more punch OR if there were a few more wild twists throughout, I would've given this 5 stars. Swanson's endings tend to be a little lackluster, in my opinion, which is why I always rate them 3.5-4 stars, yet keep picking them up.

If you enjoyed The Guest List by Lucy Foley, you will want to snag this one. Very similar atmosphere, vibe, and pace.

This book had plenty of twists that I did not see coming, however the big reveal just didn’t really seem worth the build up. I enjoyed guessing at what was going to happen for the first 2/3 of the book, but struggled a bit to get thru the final act. Fans of Swanson’s other works will surely enjoy this as well.

Every Vow You Break had potential with a unreliable narrator, infidelity and a somewhat "Cinderella-esque story" as the couple approach ins their wedding day. However, Swanson creates characters that aren't generally relatable-far too niche with their hobbies, family life, etc. It seems as though with his last few novels (Eight Perfect Murders), he is trying too hard to include his own quirky interests into his narratives. Could not finish.

Excellent as always. Peter Swanson will always be a recommended purchase for collections where thrillers are popular.

Well this took a turn that I wasn't expecting initially but once I could see that it was maybe going there, I was really hoping it would in fact go there, and then I was happy that it did. A little unrealistic but I still loved it!

This was an engaging read, but so utterly predictable that the reader can guess exactly where it is going from the moment protagonist Abigail describes her fiancée. It’s easy to figure out how Abigail is swept into the life threatening terror and that she must escape.

The moment Abigail goes on her honeymoon, the plot unfolds to the obvious scenes we had all anticipated. . There really are no surprises or twists. Any reader could have described the characters and the plot with ease. I was very disappointed since I expected Swanson to do better.

Peter Swanson is so good at what he does. I've read most of his books at this point, and he's one of the best psychological thriller writers out there. Every Vow You Break is about Abigail, who is about to marry super rich but kinda boring Bruce. Abigail has an oopsie daisy, drunk-and-anonymous one night stand at her bachelorette party. Then the man she hooked up with shows up in New York, even though they never told each other their real names. All of this is just the premise! The rest of the book is even more twisty and outrageous. Sometimes I complain when thrillers aren't realistic, or the twists are too off the wall, but that's actually what makes this book work. Swanson knows how to write a truly bonkers page turner. Definitely recommend. Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for a copy.

I have read and loved every one of Swanson’s books and this one did not disappoint. Abigail is about to marry a dreamboat millionaire and ends up cheating on him at her bachelorette party. The stranger she had the affair with shows back up and then things get really weird on her honeymoon. The main “twist” to this book was odd but worked, especially in today’s culture (will have to read it to understand what I mean).

Abigail is on her way home one evening when she spies a familiar face, a man who called himself "Scottie." Then she gets a strange email from Scottie, asking if she would like to meet again. Abigail and Scottie had a one night stand at her bachelorette party, but Abigail is about to marry Bruce, a kind and charming millionaire with whom she is in love. Or is she?
Bruce adores her, and prizes fidelity and honesty. But Abigail can't tell him the truth, and one lie leads to another.
Fast paced with escalating tension, Every Vow You Break does not disappoint. And Abigail is a wonderfully strong female lead.
Peter Swanson has become one of my very favorite authors. I started and finished this book in one sitting, staying up until three o'clock in the morning. And it was so worth it!

I enjoyed Eight Perfect Murders so I was more than ready to get caught up in some psychological twists and turns with Every Vow You Break (which thanks for the earworm, Peter Swanson!).

After a series of relationships that didn't work out, small press editor Abigail thinks she's found Mr. Right. Bruce is kind, smart, and thoughtful. And if he isn't the most passionate guy, oh well. At least he isn't breaking her heart. Plus, he's incredibly wealthy and wants to take care of her.

During her bachelorette weekend, Abigail has a one-night stand which she tries to forget about except her trysting partner emails her days before the wedding. She thinks she sees him at a cafe near her home. Even worse, she thinks he was at the wedding ceremony so she's thoroughly confused and scared when it turns out he's staying at the same exclusive island retreat as she and her new husband. The deceptions start to mount.

Her lover showing up isn't the only weird thing, Why is there only one other woman guest? And only one female employee. And lots of men.

Relationship shenanigans abound in this tightly wound psychological thriller. The deeper into the story I got, I found myself shouting, "Get OUT!" at Abigail. The tension just kept getting tighter with each scene/discovery Abigail made.

Well-written yet incredibly disturbing look at relationships and how they can go so wrong when built on secrets and deception. And how Mr. Right is so easily Mr. Not Who He Seems.

Fast-paced thriller with a determined, resourceful main character. Who I believe channeled a bit of Katniss at one point. The ending wasn't a total surprise but the ride getting there was an incredible amount of fun. For fans of Shari LaPena and Gillian Flynn.

I love Peter Swanson. in this book is about a woman who marry somebody who may not be the person she thinks he is. A Claustrophobic tale that will leave you spell bound.

After a series of bad luck with relationships, Abigail meets Bruce. A nice, rich man who sweeps her off her feet and proposes. While enjoying her bachelorette party, Abigail has a one-night stand with a stranger. She plans to keep it a secret, until that stranger shows up during their honeymoon, causing things to spiral out of control.

First, let me begin by saying I love Peter Swanson and I will read anything he writes. This book is smart and engaging, I read the entire thing in one day! I really liked some of the characters; Abigail surprised me in a good way. Along with the little details- like the title of the book tied into the story, and the wedding pictures.

I did think it was a brilliant idea for Abigail to hide in her own bunker! That action alone helped save her life. The only thing I didn’t care for was the pacing of the book. The beginning seemed somewhat slow, with lots of background information about her parents and friends. But once the honeymoon started, the story really picked up momentum.

Overall, I would recommend to those who like psychological, domestic thrillers. Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow for sending me an advanced copy!

I think Peter Swanson is a great author- the books are always mysterious and interesting and exciting. This one was no exception! I actually thought this novel branched out from Swanson’s usually storytelling. And I liked that. I was really surprised by some of the twists and turns and devoured this book in just over 24hrs.

Watch out who you sleep with and marry. A creepy story that isn't what you expect. Kind of silly, but ok for a quick read. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.
