This was a quick but fun read about the daily adventures of owning a cat and a dog. Delivered in a comic strip-like format, it's easily read in one sitting or in small bursts. I enjoyed the author's sense of humor and the real picture of her cat at the end of each vignette. I'm looking forward to checking out Volume 2 whenever it is released!

This comic is the English translation of the Japanese comic about the authors' love of her cat and dog. People who love cats and dogs will love this comic.

The author Hidekichi Matsumoto posts weekly webcomic on her twitter in Japanese every Sunday, if you want to read/see more of her fun adventures!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun is a cute little slice of life, comedy manga about the author and artists real life cat and dog. It's interspersed with snippets of their home life, anecdotes and occasional photographs. It's nothing wildy ground breaking and there's no real cohesion between the stories. The art style is simple yet endearing and quirky and has alot of humour in. It's a fun and cute little read, great for if you need to destress or wind down for the day.

I'm sorry this one is not for me. I love cats, dogs and all animals too but I just didn't like this. Thank you for the opportunity though.

To be upfront I've received an arc by kodanasha via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. As an animal lover who raises two cats I could not resist the title or the charming art style. The real life photos included are a real plus and add another insight into their lives. The dog Inu is a little ball of energy moving and jumping or looking soulfully into the camera, while the cat, Neko, has the expression of a world weary gangster. Cat and dog antics were highly relatable with dog being a happy go lucky character while the cat is indifferent aloof and antisocial.
There were many quotidian scenes that were all too familiar but still very funny, like the way the dog and cat lay with the author in bed, the dog being cuddly and considerate while the cat being a selfish bed hogger. Or when Cat gets a new toy pretends he doesn't care but plays with it anyway. I can sum up With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun with just to words- cuteness overload. There were some very touching scenes towards the end, when the mangaka was reminiscing about her previous dogs and when she describes how she came to adopt the animals. I understand there is also an anime and the making which I would love to seek out.

Very cute! This is exactly what it says on the tin: slice of life mini-comics about living with a dog and a cat. If that's what you want, enjoy! If it's not, don't pick it up!

It's easy to relate with the situations in this book. Neko is the typical grumpy cat. One of my dogs is just like Inu and I had so much fun reading it.

This is a cute all-ages manga. The art is somewhat simplistic but fun, and most of the text is accessible to anyone about 3rd grade and up. I wish we had the money in our tight budget this year to get this, but it doesn't quite make the cut. If next year is better maybe I'll get it retroactively.

actually really enjoyed this manga! I typically read manga in which the stories carry on to through hundreds of chapters, and this was a refreshing mix-up to that. I liked the short-style it presented, and made it really easy to just open up and read a few pages to get that quick endorphin kick. I would even recommend this to friend who may not like manga or have never read manga before because of how universal loving animals are LOL.

This comedic, slice-of-life-ish manga gives us just an insight of her relationship with her dog (Inu) and cat (Neko). Their personalities are so different and I love how she is able to portray how expressive they are! If she comes out with more volumes, I would be happy to purchase them to read.

This was such a cute manga! The sound effects were a great addition in bringing the characters to life. I love how Matsumoto included real pictures of her doggo and kitty throughout the manga because they are super adorable! The stories in this manga were very relatable and it was cool to see the contrast between her Inu and Neko’s personalities. Her art style seems very basic but the exaggerated face expressions added humour to her stories. I also really liked how she included a little blulrb about the different options that are available for where to purchase your pets. If you love cats and dogs then definitely check this manga out.

I’ve always been a sucker for pet antics-be it in manga, novels and any other media. So, when I saw there’s a comic by a pet owner of both cat and dog, I immediately picked it up.

It was such a light, breezy and enjoyable read.

It is a collection of short comic strips featuring her adorable, hyper, most precious poodle, Inu and Neko, a mighty cat-lord who owns hooman world. (Inu and Neko literally means Dog and Cat!) Artist has collected her daily life episodes with her pets in a cute art style bound little comic that’ll leave you chuckling several times and if you’re like me- start afresh a begging bout for a pet…

I also loved how the artist has shared real-life photos of those babies in between the strips with little comments.

It was pretty good but did lack in several aspects. For one, I think I’d have much preferred those comic strips being a little longer since it got a bit jumpy with erratic flow due to the style adapted.
Also, the translation sometimes felt a bit off that failed to do justice with the humor.

Overall, I enjoyed it very much as I read it in my short break from work.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

4.5 stars

This may be the cutest thing I have ever read. Absolute adorableness in canine and feline form.
Also, loved the fact that Inu-kun was a poodle as that is what I have.

Recommended for any dog or cat lover who needs a breath of fresh air right now.

First of all, thanks to Netgally for letting me read this in advance in exchange for an honest review

Is there something more amazing than having a pet? No, there isn’t. This art shows us a variety of scenarios from day to day in the life of an animal lover.
Here we have Inu, an adorable and energetic dog; and Neko, a chubby and grumpy cat, that in its own way shows its love to its owner.
As it is, this doesn’t have a story to follow, it’s just a series of illustrations of tHidekichi Matsumoto’s life with her pets. Even though it’s really enjoyable. It captures how it is to live with a dog and a cat.
As I was reading it reminded me how I am with my dog and the things we do together. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing and smiling 3/5 stars.

3/5 estrellas.

I received an ARC through NetGalley from Kodansha USA, Vertical Comics. This was a very cute manga that depicted real life daily scenarios from an owner of both a cat and a dog. The two pets have very different personalities and the owner loves them to death, but can also be very frustrated by their antics - each alone and when they are together. Overall, this was a nice, light, slice of life for animal lovers. While I don't think this accurately represents all dog personalities or all cat personalities, it definitely shows how our pets make our lives fun and interesting each day.

With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun was better than I expected. Usually pet series make me cringe, since Japanese way to treat pets is not the greatest and wouldn't be tolerated in my country. The series is autobiographical and tells about Hidekichi's pet dog named Inu and cat named Neko. Of course the names mean a dog and cat. This is a humor manga, a combination of 4-koma (strip manga) and one page stories about the lives and times of the pets and their owner. There's no plot of course, but occurrences and differences about the pets and how Hidekichi enjoys it all. I'm glad this is realistic and that the animals are actually animals. I also liked the photos, they worked nicely along.

This type of series tends to repeat itself, but With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun does it better and makes everything seem more refreshing. The pets have their own personas and there's enough variation not to make this boring. So, one of the better animals series surely. The art looks almost Western and the vivid line art enriches the story and there's lots of motion, which is great too. If you like to read about dogs and cats, then this is surely for you!

***Netgalley ARC given for honest review***

These hilarious and relatable vignettes will warm any pet lover's ❤️. Enjoy a brief look into the lives of the author's pet dog, Inu-kun, and pet cat, Neko-chan. There are even real pics of said pets sprinkled throughout the manga. I enjoyed this fun volume even more than I thought I would. Will definitely pick up the the next manga volume!

'With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun, Volume 1' by Hidekichi Matsumoto is a manga full of comics about the artist living with a cat and a dog.

Owning a pet can be fun, and pets have their own personalities as Hidekichi Matsumoto has discovered. While her dog reacts with happiness at a new toy, her cat shows disinterest. At bedtime, the dog snuggles in to be, while the cat is wound up and playing loudly. Included in the volume is how the author met each of her pets.

This was really a lot of fun to read. I can tell the artist loves both pets, but her cat is hilarious in its moodiness.

This was very adorable. The art was beautiful, and the comics were very cute!

I liked how Ina -the dog- is so adorable and nice so she counters Niko's -the cat- air of menace. That being said, Cat-centered strips were superior.

All in all, this is such a great read. It's very uplifting and cute.

This is a very cute manga for the cat lover in your life. I'm more of a dog person than a cat person so I generally find the "cats doing things they shouldn't" behavior as irritating rather than adorable (like swiping at a dog or knocking a glass off the table) and this book is definitely geared towards people who find that sort of thing cute. The illustrations are very fun and this would be a super fun book to read to a child. It would be a great introduction to manga and reading right to left. The use of real photos was a really sweet touch. And there's truly nothing better than having pets and this book delivers on celebrating them.

Did you enjoy A Man and his Cat but would like a few more laughs? Then do I have the book for you! With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun is a delightful, heartwarming, and very entertaining record of the author's life with her toy poodle and grumpy cat, detailing their differences and the joy that living with them brings. Each chapter about the cat ends with the same photo of him looking like he doesn't give a damn about anyone, and photos of both pets are placed throughout the volume as a special treat. The story is recognizable to anyone who has lived with multiple pets, and the bonus content of how she got each of them - bought the dog at a pet shop and rescued the cat when he was a kitten from a drain - and her increasing awareness of animal rescue help to fill out the plot. It's hard to overstate how much fun this is.
