This is the cutest manga I've ever read. It's fun (I actually laughed out loud a few times) and captures the reality of having a cat and a dog. Each 'story' or page shows a snapshot of what owning a pet is like: Neko the grumpy cat who is quite happy just being fed and left alone, and Inu the crazy dog who loves attention, food and being close to a human as much as possible.
Having grown up around dogs this made my heart so happy (having lost our dog a few months ago and currently being dog-less) and having cat-sat for my cousin I learned that cats are not to be messed with and it's best to stay away, and this manga captures this perfectly.

If you are an animal lover, particularly cats and dogs, this is a really quick and fun manga that you could easily skim through multiple times and never get bored of.

I really loved this. The small little photographs of the dog and the cat were so cute in between the stories and I thought it added so much personality from the artist to the comic.

I think the story is very cute. And even though I don't own both a cat and a dog I did relate to some of the scenarios that were presented in this comic. I think it's a great way to make people laugh and smile and give a little break from so to say "The real world"

Absolutely recommend this one!

A manga sharing the artist’s daily experiences with her pet cat Neko who is aloof, and her dog Enu who is full of energy.

Hidekichi shares relatable pet owner experiences with a touch of humor. The contrast between her two animals and their personalities is comical as well. There are real pictures of her pets sprinkled throughout the book. There are a couple pet mangas out there, but none that feature both a cat and a dog or feel like a real journal of a pet owner. Recommended for animal lovers.

Notes on content: 2 minor swears. No sexual content. Some pet on human and pet on pet minor violence. A mention of calling a psychic just because she was starved for human interaction. Also a story about coming home drunk to her pets.

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

'With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun' follows the story of the manga artist Hidekichi Matsumoko and her daily life with her two pets, Mr Inu (her playful dog) and Mr Neko (her rather devilish cat)
Each chapter follows a different story, and a lot of which may be relatable to pet owners- i certainly found them to be!

The art-style is soo adorable and her funny stories made me laugh many a time! I also really enjoyed seeing the real life photos she included for further context on certain scenes and i'll definitely be reading volume 2 along with any other books to come!

Rating: 4/5 stars

A cute and hilarious manga about the artist's cat, Neko, and her dog, Inu. The names alone had me in stitches.

It took a while before I could read it. My Kindle needs to convert things and that just messed it all up, my Kindle doesn't like manga it seems. In the end I read it on my tablet, not the best for my eyes, but the only option. :) I was already worried I may not be able to read it, and I really wanted to read this book.

This one is about the artist's pets and her daily life with them. She has a dog and a cat and she tells us in short comics how her life is with these two. From trying to work with a hyper dog and a cat that loves the warmth of her laptop. How her dog is totally enthusiastic (so very enthusiastic) and loves her and shows her that all the time. And how her cat... well he is a typical cat. But he loves her in his own special grumpy way. :P
I laughed so so much reading her stories about her pets. I am definitely a big fan of her dog, he is just so bouncy and hyper, never letting anything get in the way or make his happiness go away.

I had a lot of fun reading this one, it was just what I needed. I laughed, I giggled, and rolled my eyes a bit at that grumpy cat Neko.

While we read we get photographs of both pets, and I just had a laugh how different the cat is in real life. The dog is pretty much the same, but the cat looks way sweeter in real life (then again, appearances can be deceiving). I definitely love that they were added, it just gave the story something extra.

The art was OK.

All in all, I need more volumes in this series. I need to see what is next in the daily lives with these pets.

This was super cute! I love both cats and dogs so reading this manga about someone having both was a joy. I really liked the artist’s drawing style!

I will say this was a bit harder to read purely because this was just a mix of short stories about this manga artist’s cat and dog, it wasn’t just a continuous story but a jumble of a ton of tiny stories.

It was still super enjoyable though! I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for an adorable read about the adventures of a cute little poodle and a mischievous cat!

Hidekichi Matsumoto, a manga artist, owns both a dog and a cat. The dog, Inu, is sweetness itself, and the cat, Neko, is cute and cool. She draws her dog as kind of a loveable idiot, while the cat's portrayal is more.. sinister. And so we have here a lovely collection of cartoons on the divergent personalities of her pets. There's nothing earth shattering here, but it does what it says on the tin, and sometimes that's exactly what you want.

This manga is a collection of one or two-pages stories about the cat and the dog of the mangaka. The drawings are really cute and brought me a lot of joy, especially when looking at Inu, the dog because he was just so cute with his big eyes. The stories were fun, funny and cute. I enjoyed them a lot. I also have a cat, so I sometimes related to the stories, which was really fun. The stories are light-hearted and easy to read. I recommend this one for children but not only because I think every cat and/or dog-owners would love this manga.

While the internet is great in bringing new artists to a wider audience not all of them need to have their comics published in book form. And for me, this is a prime example of that. Its a generic cats and dogs are so difference and heres how. Its not funny, its not cute. Its just blah.

A collection of cute short comics about the joys and surprises of being a pet owner. Filled with easy-to-read, funny situations and charming characters.

I picked this book only because it sounded adorable to me (being a huge fan of cats). I found it to be a bit disappointing. The plot lagged continuity. Sometimes, there were two completely different stories placed on the same page. There were constant flashbacks which had me kind of lost. Some of them were quite cute. I loved the illustrations. Overall, it’s good for somebody who’s looking for a light read but nothing too story-centric.

I love mangas of all kinds and am always open to new ideas. When I found "with a cat and a dog, every day is fun", I was thrilled. I love cats and dogs and stories like that are exactly my thing.

I already loved the cover and the drawing style is totally cute.

The stories in the manga are just funny and so close to real life. I had a lot of fun and had to smile again and again.

The drawing style is just cute and perfect for the stories.

All in all a wonderful first volume and I would like to read more of it.
Volume one deserves 5 stars for me

This is a delightful, light-hearted manga that anyone with pets will absolutely relate to. Hidekichi Matsumoto tells stories about her dog, Inu, and her cat, Neko. They're the best of friends and each have a distinct personality. Inu is cheerful and bouncy and always up for a cuddle, while Neko is more aloof and devious but sometimes also loving (very occasionally).

The art style is cute and the short stories made me laugh out loud several times. There are a couple of pictures of her actual pets sprinkled throughout and they look as adorable as their manga counterparts. The fact that it's drawn as multiple short stories/comics means it's the kind of book you can pick up, read a few pages of and then put down again easily. Makes for a nice break from work.

ARC Copy...It was adorable and suggestible for dog and/or cat lovers. Just the normal everyday hijinks of a hyper active doggy and an overlord of a cat...pet owners can relate!

With a Dog AND a Cat, Every Day is Fun, volume 1

Too cute!
🐾
It's all too cute collection of short stories about living with a cat and a dog. In a truly Japanese fashion, it is created to make us swoon because of the cuteness overload. Honestly, it is way too cute to be legal.
Neko is a stereotypical cat (a heartless yet cute villain) and Inu is the stereotypical dog (a lovable idiot).
🐾
In the original, the dialogs handwritten and the translation attempts to copy that style. The effect looks very cute and has the same indie/webcomic style as the original. The stories are believable and relatable even for a person who has neither a dog nor a cat.
🐾
The whole manga was such a sweet comic relief from reality and I seriously can't imagine anyone not liking it.

This book is so fun to read. Neko and Inu are so cute and I really liked the "How I Met Inu/Neko" parts.

Not as cute as I would've hoped.

I thought this was so sweet, and funny. It captures the different personalities of all pets just perfectly and also made me think of beloved past pets that I have had the honour of having. Very much enjoyed this, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to review it!

I asked for the chance to read a galley copy of this book because the dog and cat my family had when I was born were named Inu and Neko. My parents had adopted them while living in Japan though my mother later admitted that calling “dog! dog!” left her feeling foolish there. My Inu lived into her teens and was a good natured and clever dog. My Neko made it to half a month shy of 20. She never let me forget that she remembered me as a human kitten and that in the household hierarchy she outranked me! So kind of like the Neko in this collection!
This is a super cute book for any pet lover. The artist/author obviously loves her pets and really gets across their personalities. If you want a charming and fun read that will make you smile I recommend this book! It’ll make you think of pets both current and past.
