Christmas is a time for family. Lila has no family but that is ok, her three friends and her have spent Christmas together for a few years now. They go the whole hog, decorations, trees, gifts and Christmas food and are determined to enjoy the festive season.
Things are changing though and this year they can't all be together so they set off early to Fireside Cabins, which has been advertised as the perfect getaway on the internet.
They arrive in the tiny village to find a rude barrister running a spartan coffee house and a cabin that is worse for wear. They are not defeated and are determined to bring joy to everyone including the grumpy owner of the coffee house and the sad lonely owner of the cabins.
This is a lovely Christmas read that will draw you into the world of Lila, Theo, little Rex, and the other characters and have you rooting for a wonderful outcome even though everything seems to go wrong inlcuding a burst water pipe, a jealous fiance and rumours of embezzlement.
Treat yourself to a great read!
This without a doubt needs to be the next Jenny hale book turned into hallmark movie.
It has the small time mountain setting, cosy cabins, a fabulous heart warning storyline, friends old and new and romantic leads one of which has a lot of secrets to uncover.
Some of the Christmassy activities described i would have liked to jump into the pages to experience myself. It all sounded so lovely.
I really warmed to Lila quite early on and her personality shines through. Just sees the best in everyone and wants to help where possible.
And Rex is so cute, when they all first met him I couldn't believe his age, he is an old soul on young shoulders. Steals any scene he is in.
Oh and Theo so hard to know what to make of him initially, but then he really does grow on you.
You couldn't have had a better seeing for this story if you tried and it us Jenny Hale at her very best. I always love her festive books and you are in for a real treat with this one.
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,
I was given a copy of this books through NetGalley for my honest review.
I fell in love with this book, it hit every happy Hallmark point for me. This is my first book by Jenny Hale and I throughly enjoyed it. I am giving it four stars for the last part of the book which I just felt was too rushed to wrap everything up. I will definitely be reading more of her holiday books this year and years to come.
This is my first Jenny Hale story and I am excited to read more!! It is impossible to read this book and not be ready to decorate your house, sing Christmas carols, and have hot cocoa! A lovely story, a bit different from your typical holiday book (Hallmark movie) but I loved it! Exactly the holiday book I needed this year!
If cheesy Hallmark Christmas movie stories are your thing, look no further. This book is loaded with festive holiday elements.
Christmas at Fireside Cabins was a lovely, heartwarming story of found family, finding purpose, forgiveness, and moving on from one's past. It has all the perfect elements of a Christmas story - the cozy cabin decorated to the nines, the Christmas trees, sleigh ride, and oh my goodness, Christmas treats galore.
This story was brimming with colorful side characters. Lila was an interesting character, one that might not click with everyone, but as someone who fell into a lot of situations vs choosing them, I could relate to her struggles and her fears. Really lovely all around.
Christmas at Fireside Cabins is a really sweet Christmas story with a small town, loveable side characters and two main characters who are not always the most relatable or loveable. Despite my frustrations with both Lila and Theo at times, I did enjoy the book and stay up extra late to finish it. I think I needed more of a build up to their love story instead it felt almost rushed and I didnt understand the obsession with each other at times. But it had a great ending and made me happy.
Overall a very enjoyable seasonal cozy read. I found it hard to track at times. Lots of jumping around. I wish there was a little more character development. All In all though it was a cute read.
Lila and her three friends set off to the countryside, looking forward to some cosy retreat and spending some girls time. The Fireside Cabins sound like the perfect place for that.
I really enjoyed the setting in the Tennessee mountains and although the cabins aren't the most modern standard, they sound very cosy. The small village nearby the cabins makes a very distant impression in the beginning but later this is getting a lot better with all the festive happenings and events.
Lila and her friends are lovely characters and I was looking forward to follow their story. I liked how they turned the little bit shabby cabin into a cosy Christmas retreat. Theo, the coffeeshop owner, doesnt't make it easy to like him in the beginning but it's getting better throughout the book.
In general I really liked the story but I found it a little bit jumpy at times, scenes and situations were changing very quickly and a few times I was a bit irritated.
Overall the story is a very enjoyable festive read which I can recommend for the Christmas time.
I was looking for a cozy Christmas read, and I thought this book would fit the bill, but it didn't. It was really repetitive and super dramatic. I never really connected with the characters. It was a decent read, but I'm not sure it's very memorable.
A gorgeous, seasonal story that had me glued to the pages. Great characters and wonderful setting. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
I love a Christmas cabin story-and this one did not disappoint! It had great wintery vibes and an even better plot and characters.
Absolutely your typical #romancenovel but with all of the #christmasfeels sprinkled ALL OVER IT
π
My stay at Fireside Cabins was an absolute joy. From the original Girls Christmas week away and the shameful drooling I did when sweet treat after sweet treat were mentioned one after the other to then following Lila on her own drama filled festive period
π
Can we just take another minute to talk about the #sweettreats again though!?! Urghhhh I wasn't joking about the drooling π and I'm pretty sure that author Jenny Hale totally moonlights as a baker aswell as being a fab writer.
π
Anyway. CHRISTMAS AT FIRESIDE CABINS was great, I did however have a little panic about a quarter into the book that it was becoming rather predictable and about to get droney and boring BUT that thought was very soon kicked out of Santa's grotto. Lila and Theo's journey GOT GOING!
π
Completely Perfect for this time of year, I urge you to book yourself into Fireside Cabins this Christmas, you'll have a great stay.
π
Thank you #netgalley #bookouture and #jennyhale for a chance to read this one. It was Fab and I'm now off to add more of Jenny's work to my #wishlist π
I usually love Jenny Hale's book but this one wasn't for me.
I didn't like the characters and the story didn't keep my attention as I struggled to read it.
Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
This book definitely got me in the Christmas spirit! All the talk about peppermint lattes, hot cocoa, snow, sleigh rides, all putting any reader in a good holiday mode! Hale did a great job writing about a holiday romance about two people coming from two very hard times in their life, with one struggling with loss while the other trying to avoid mistakes made in the past. Definitely a wonderful Christmas read!!
This book wants to make you swoon with Christmas delights! For me, the highlight of the book was the description of the magical Pinewood Hills, the cabins, the cute little bakery, the fair and the quaint restaurants. It was like a magical fairy tale setting and I longed to join the girls on their holiday!
This is a story of Lila, who is the most kind-hearted and generous person you will ever meet. Having lost her mother when she was very young and her dad a few years back, she longs to have loved ones to share her memories and festivities with. She is shown as a genuine character, perhaps a little bit too good to be true. On her perfect holiday, walks in Theo Perry, a mysterious barista who seems oblivious to Christmas and anything happy that goes around them.
Throughout the story, I just wanted the main characters to talk to each other so they could resolve their issues! And once they do, the story wraps up nicely (as expected from a romcom). I felt the main plot only came into existence in the final quarter of the book and wished there was more to it then just the Christmas festivities and description of the amazing places in the Pinewood Hills.
The perfect book to get me into the Christmas spirit. I throughly enjoyed this read. Itβs the perfect feel good fiction you need to escape the world for an evening and enjoy with a glass of hot chocolate.
This book has just the right amount of Christmas warmth with Haleβs descriptions of food and scenery setting the mood perfectly.
This would be perfect for any fans of romance Christmas movies. A great story of found family and friend and the joys of the holiday season.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a cope of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Christmas at Fireside Cabins by Jenny Hale, it was very heartwarming and a great festive, cosy read. If you are looking for a great Christmassy read this book has it all. Another great book by Jenny.
I wasn't sure about this book at first. The main character seemed like spoiled brat at first with the way she acted around Theo, which didn't mesh with the way she was described. After a while though, we started to see a different side of her, and that one I really liked. This book was a bit different from most Christmas books I've read, there's a deep secret and when that comes out it changes the tone of the whole book. I now need to know where I can get an Eleanor in my life
Story was good, but took a bit long for me to get into it. Too much friends in the beginning made me feel a bit distracted, but it was possibly my mood at the time. The story did get lovely. Great writer, loved the setting.
