The Siren, by Katherine St. John, tells the story of a group of Hollywood stars, past and present.. getting ready to shoot the movie of their lives. They all have their reasons for being on the island of St. Genesis, and they all need this film to be a success.. megastar Cole Power’s will be staring against his ex-wife, Stella Rivers and the producer Taylor needs this film to be a blockbuster, to save her career and reputation. Once settled on the island, things seem normal yet everyone has their own secrets. With tensions high, filming delays and a tight budget everyone is on edge. This story was fun and is had twists and turns, which were very interesting.. when you add in a crazy assistant with her own agenda, things get even crazier.. When you think it can’t get any wackier.. wait for the Hurricane.. This was a fast paced read for me. Great story, great characters and I gave it four stars. I want to thank Netgalley & the author for my advanced copy, for an honest review. It was my pleasure reading and reviewing this book. There were so many good reviews out, I am glad that it was as food as everyone said.. see my review on Amazon & Barnes & Noble. I hope you enjoy it, as much as I did..

I absolutely loved this book so much that I couldn’t put it down. It felt like a soap opera with tons of drama, scandals, villains, romance and unexpected twists. I love how the story was told from three point of views, so we got to see everyone’s perspective around the same situation. Also, there were flashbacks every few chapters that helped lead to the development of the present day movie shooting. I can see this being a movie one day!

I was completely unable to put this book down. It was JUICY and SPICY!

Synopsis:
We have three female POVs in this book: 1. Taylor - the film producer of the movie "The Siren", 2. Stella - the female lead of "The Siren" and 3. Felicity - Stella's newly acquired personal assistant.
"The Siren" is a movie set to film in the Caribbean, starring and financed by "Hollywood's hottest male" Cole Powers. When all three women... and Cole... end up on the Caribbean island together, they soon learn that their presence in the same place at the same time is not a coincidence.

Thoughts:
This is a scandalous page-turner. The plot steadily picks up through the first half of the book and quickly turns into the thriller that it is advertised as. I gasped, I cried, and I loved these women! I loved their stories, their strength, and their unity with each other against the common enemy.
I 1000% recommend this book - you will not be able to put it down!

This was a great beach read to kick off my summer. It has it all--trouble locations, a movie crew, a hot local, and a lecherous actor. I really enjoyed St. John's Lion's Den book last year and I'm hoping for another one next summer! Recommended!

Another perfect book to read on your summer vacation. Katherine St. John seems to kit the mark consistently with books that mix a bit of mystery with female relationships, love, and usually a bit of family drama. It straddles the line between women's fiction and mystery with multiple POVs to keep the story fresh. You get an exotic location, fun characters, secrets, and a solid mystery. What more could you want in a summer read?

As a filmmaker, I had to put aside a lot of scenes that were not realistic to believe the premise that these people were going to make a movie on an island. It's not as if that doesn't happen, but close circles in our business are not as close as they seem in this book. That aside, I enjoyed the film parts more than I usually do in books about the subject. The characters were a bit too quick to shift their motivations towards the climax, something I think could have been seeded earlier, but I understood how it moved things forward and went for the ride.

This is a slow-burn mystery so if you prefer summer reads that are going fast, this isn't the one, But if you like a juicy story that can unfold between snorkel sessions or laps in the pool, you'll like this one.

This book was full of more twists and turns than a hurricane! Perfect for those who love modern-day Hollywood drama.

This novel was a heck of a ride. Slow to start and slow for me to get into the characters (other than a pure dislike for them), but as the story goes on and the characters develop and the, shall we say, the plot thickens, it all becomes worth the time to read this thriller/mystery.

There is a lot of back and forth in time going on, so that may throw some of you into a loop, but at about halfway (maybe less), everything becomes a tad clearer and easier to understand.

There are some trigger issues in this book, but they are fairly subtle, so may not make anyone over-anxious. But, just in case, rape is kind of hinted at and then clearly discussed.

Be aware, not everyone is who they seem to be, and that's all I have to say about that!!!

I am sure this is going to be a summer smash! It has it all. Stunning scenery, glamorous and fantastically gorgeous people, intrigue, dark undercurrents, and the ultimate escape from your real life

It's my lie on a sun bed, pina colada in hand and read the day away kind of book.

The Siren by Katherine St. John was amazing. Talk about about a scandalous, twisted trip set in the Caribbean! This book is perfect to add to your cocktails poolside!
I love how this story is told by three different POVs. The movie set aspect was super dishy! I was unable to put The Siren down! Katherine filled this pages of my kindle with glamour, adventure and romance. The plot , setting and characters was beyond what I could image, the depth of the characters made it so crazy easy to care about them.
I really fell in love with Katherine’s writing after I read The Lion’s Den and after reading The Siren Katherine St. John has found a place amongst my must read writers!

On the idyllic Caribbean island of St. Genesius, megastar Cole Power along with ex-wife, Stella Rivers, his son Jackson, Stella's new mystery assistant Felicity, the fledgling producer Taylor, and Madison who is as much a social media influencer as she is an actress, all gather to film the movie The Siren. Each woman has their own motive for being in the movie. The problem.....someone else also has a secret agenda, one that puts several people in jeopardy. With a hurricane bearing down on the island it becomes a race against time., to see who will come out on top.
This book is told in the alternating voices of the different women, so you get a well-rounded view to each woman's back-story and current story. Interspersed throughout are clips from gossip columns and social media posts. There are characters to root for (Felicity) and ones to hate (Cole). There is a lot of suspense, especially once the hurricane starts ramping up to hit the island. This book is the perfect book to add to your beach reads list.

This book is like watching a Netflix show. Once you start, you can’t stop until you’ve finished. It was SOOOO good!!

The Siren, starring Hollywood heartthrob Cole Power and his ex wife Stella Rivers. How will they work together again on screen years later after a nasty divorce in this highly anticipated film?

Taylor Wasserman will do anything to get a job. After multiple accusations at her previous employment get her fired, Taylor hasn’t been able to find work anywhere. When Cole Power’s offers her the job to produce his upcoming film The Siren, Taylor jumps on it without question. She’s desperate but also 6 weeks on an island in the Caribbean isn’t too bad either.

When Taylor gets there she immediately gets to work on making this film the best she can. Bur while working on the beach a curvy and gorgeous woman perched on the rocks in the water catches her eyes, and everyone else’s too. When she finds out she is Stella’s new assistant and meets her, something feels off but Taylor can’t put her finger on it.

As filming starts it seems like everyone is hiding something including Taylor herself. Tensions are rising on set and no one really trusts anyone. When a hurricane crashes on shore Stella, Taylor, and Felicity (Stella’s assistant) and trapped but united under a common enemy.

What the heck is everyone hiding? Who knows what? And why does something feel off about Felicity? Find out in The Siren.

Katherine St John killed it again. I could NOT out this book down. I’m currently writing this review at 3am because I had to stay up to finish it. HIGHLY recommend you preorder it ASAP!

Hollywood glamour mixed with a scandalous murder plot makes THE SIREN the ultimate guilty pleasure summer read! Seasoned and swoony actor, Cole Powers, hires his ex-wife, Stella Rivers, to star together in his son’s movie. With a star-studded cast filming in the tropical Caribbean island of St. Genesius what could possibly go wrong? Told from the perspective of three women on the island, readers slowly watch tumultuous troubles unfold in paradise.

This story has everything you could want in an escapist read: murder mystery, star-crossed lovers, revenge plots, and a side of romance. Katherine St. John creatively interspersed various media types throughout the book (Instagram Posts, Gossip Magazine, Tabloid Headlines) which added to the juicy Hollywood melodramatic feel.

Recently I have read some heavy/literary books, so The Siren was the perfect palate cleanser. If you’re looking to celebrate Pride month with your reads, this would be a fantastic pick. Be sure to toss this into your beach bag for a twisty summer read!

A big thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think I just hit jackpot with this book! Scandalous, twisty, dramatic and simply phenomenal, The Siren made for the perfect poolside lounging/cocktail sipping thriller.

The story is set on an idyllic Caribbean island during a movie shoot, with a hurricane brewing in the horizon. I was naturally enamored right from the start with the beautifully-depicted tropical setting mixed in with the Hollywood glamour.

Told from the POVs of three women from the set, the plot moves at a steady pace as these women’s stories begin to interweave and decades worth of buried secrets come to light. The final 25% of this book sent my heart-racing and kept me GLUED to the pages.

This book is a chaotic delight and a summer read that I think everyone should indulge in this season. I can’t wait pick up a copy of The Lion’s Den!

⚠️ TW: date rape, drug abuse, miscarriage

Set on a small island movie set, this story is told through the perspective of three women; the movie producer, Taylor; the star, Stella; and Stella's assistant Felicity.

This one had a bit of a slow start and honestly felt like I was reading something set in the 50s, not present day. I kept having to remind myself that this was actually a current timeline. I did enjoy this story but found myself enjoying Felicity and Stella's stories more than Taylor's. I kept wondering why she was even in the story at all.

But overall I did like this book and will definitely read more by Katherine St. James. I actually just bought The Lion's Den so I hope to get to that one this summer.

The Siren by Katherine St. John reminds me of the great summer reads written years ago by Jackie Collins that I read as a teenager when my mother wasn't looking. There are many famous people behaving poorly on a film set in the Caribbean while a possible hurricane brews. Sex, drugs, and murder are all fueling this plot. Read on a steamy day and enjoy!

The Siren is the perfect soapy, dishy book for summer reading! The Siren by Katherine St. John is one that I'd been highly anticipating after loving last year's The Lion's Den by the author, and this one was just as good. Full of timely Hollywood intrigue and set on a gorgeous Carribean island, this was a juicy story that captured issues of addiction and the Me Too movement as well. It captures the dark underbelly of glamour, and reading as one particular character's story unfolds adds to the growing danger. This was a delightful book to read.

I read The Lions Den last year and really enjoyed it, and I was very excited to read it While I ended up liking The Siren a little less than the Lions den I did really enjoy it. I liked the multiple points of view and all the characters were interesting to me.

I was so excited when I came across a book description that was about a juicy Hollywood movie shoot that’s scandalous, glamorous, full of dark secrets AND was categorized as a thriller?! Sign me up!!

I was slightly let down after all that I built it up to be in my mind but I still found it to be super entertaining and I was intrigued throughout!

I always enjoy multiple POVs and relished in the usage of different media types scattered throughout with the Instagram posts and the gossip magazine and tabloid headlines!

While it was a bit longer than I typically prefer, I recommend checking it out if you’re looking for a lighter type of thriller!

Did you read The Lions Den last year? This year, the super talented @thekatstjohn is back and, in my opinion, even better with The Siren. I binged this last week in a day and couldn’t get enough of this escapist story that takes place on a movie set. Filled with angsty family, pretentious actors, and uptight producers in a dual timeline novel that you won’t want to miss this summer.

The Siren was a highly anticipated read for me. I loved The Lion’s Den and went into this with some expectations which may have ended up burning me.

This is the story of a group of people who come together on an island to make an indie film. There’s Cole - the mega movie star who has been America’s Sexiest Man multiple times. His son Jackson who is directing his first film. And the three women whose alternating voices give us the story - Stella, the aging actress who was briefly married to Cole many years ago and is starring with him again. Taylor - the producer who really needs this to be a hit. And Felicity - Stella’s assistant who has only known the actress a couple months but quickly got into her inner circle.

The plot was set up to be really interesting and I love the elements of urgency with the film’s tight budget and isolation from the remote location. However I was really disappointed with how the story played out. I was able to predict almost all of the twists from the start and felt the ending was over the top.

To make a comparison - I felt this was fine for a Lifetime Sunday afternoon movie but I came in expecting a movie theater thriller.

Thank you to Grand Central, Hachette Audio and Netgalley for the advance reading and listening copies.
