This book! Holy moly. I adored it. I haven't read any of the other books in the series, so was unfamiliar with the characters and their history. Admittedly, I was immediately put off by the character breakdowns at the start of the book, but don't let this deter because I do think it helped provide some background which would have been provided in the other books. Honestly I feel like I need to go and read the rest now, I loved it. Such a wonderful level of tension and suspense the whole way through.

I found this to be an interesting read with well-developed characters. It wasn't a page turner and it didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat, however it was an enjoyable read which I would recommend. My thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

A very engaging read. So much so that I read it within 24 hours. DI Adam Fawley and his team are asked to investigate an allegation of a Professor sexually harassing a student. The complication is that the professor is a woman and the student is a strapping man. They have to abandon all preconceptions and stereotypes to investigate. At the same time Adam is trying to provide extra support to his wife Alex, who is heavily pregnant. She is on edge as the man who raped her many years before is out of prison nad had promised revenge.. Then the team are called to a suspicious death and things start really hotting up.
This was very quick paced and although you knew who was responsible, it was the how that was the issue.
An engaging read.

I have read all of Cara Hunter's books to date, and I have always enjoyed them. I have always found them to be classic thriller page-turners. However, I cannot say that I enjoyed this book. I found it incredibly slow paced, and I didn't find the plot as creative and original as Hunter's previous books.

I'm really disappointed as this book just seems a real drastic change from all of Cara Hunter's previous books. It wasn't exciting. It was dull.
I'm genuinely gutted. Gutted! I really don't know if I will read anymore of the Adam Fawley series of books (if there are anymore)

Thank you very much #NetGalley and Penguin for a #gifted copy of this ebook in exchange of my opinion.

The Whole Truth is that Cara Hunter is the Queen of thriller and mystery books.

I have read many, many thrillers, suspense, mystery and crime books and no one does it like her.

She does have something special, something different that make her books so engrossing and addictive that you won’t be able to stop turning pages until you are done with it. And, even then, you’ll want more!

This is the fifth book in the DI Adam Fawley and, although my favourite so far is “In The Dark” (The second one), this one is real good too!

I really liked the two storylines in The Whole Truth. I liked the one about the sexual assault made by a professor to her student. I liked how they were all lying about what had happened, how, at some point, I didn’t even know what to believe or who to believe anymore, and I also liked to find out the truth about it.

But I think I enjoyed the one about this lady who was found murdered and all the crazy events that comes from that a little bit more! Just because of who is involved in it!

Like always, the WhatsApp conversations, the press articles, the police interrogations and every little bit piece that Cara Hunter managed, somehow, to put into this book, made this the best first read of 2021 that I could read.

AMAZING.

The latest in the DI Fawley series set in Oxford. A male student accuses his female tutor of sexual assault and then a friend of DI Fawleys wife is found murdered and the detective becomes the main suspect. A competent police procedural, a well written assemble of characters and a satisfying read.

The “Whole Truth” is the 5th book in the D.I Adam Fawley series. I have to say this is one of my favourite authors and I just love this series!!

D.I Adam Fawley and his team are investigating a sexual abuse case regarding a professor and student. I love how the police and myself presumed it was a man abusing a young lady and no it was the other way around!!

The second investigation is an old case from 1998. Gavin Parrie named the “Roadside Rapist” has been released from prison. He is adamant that he has been set up and wants revenge!! This is a personal case for Adam as he worked the original and Alex who is now his wife was the key witness.

A gripping read with characters that I’ve come to love through this wonderful series. The twists will keep you guessing!!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

I found this to be a thoroughly good, interesting read with well developed characters. For me, personally it wasn't a page turner nor did it keep me on the edge of my seat but overall it was an enjoyable read which I would recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Books UK for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I love the DI Fawley series and was really looking forward to this one. With two separate cases for the team and DI Fawley's wife about to give birth, there is a lot going on in the book.
We are thrown into an allegation of male sexual abuse and a missing lady who turns up deceased, with possible stalkings and a case history dating back twenty years with a promise of revenge.
I found the book slow to get into for some reason and it took me two goes to read the whole book, however I'm glad I did as it is so well written with a good ending.

Wow what a book!
This is by far one of the best crime thrillers ever. The author has done such a phenomenal job on the storyline and how the characters were portrayed. I think the blurb is so interesting especially for those who love crime thrillers. I was a little bit anxious when i first started and realised there were 800 pages ( i thought the book might waffle on). I loved how there was podcast, notes and interviews interjected within the book, made the whole book complete in a sense and made it even more enjoyable.
The plot twists were amazing, and you kind of don’t expect it in a way. Usually i have read some books which are let down because of the killer reveal. Have to say that the readers will not be disappointed in any way at all.
I couldn’t put the book down as i was eager to find out what a happened next and with the whole storyline of gender roles reversed between the student and the professor it made it even more interesting to read.

This book is going to be a great hit when it does get published and I am so excited that there will be a tv series based on the book.
This is a definite read for people who enjoy crime thrillers. I was definitely satisfied with the whole book and can say that i did not waste my time.

I couldn’t believe that the book mentioned Leamington Spa! It felt so strange to read it as many people aren’t even aware of the town. That bit in the book bought a smile to my face.

This is the first book I have read from Cara Hunters collection. I think i found myself a new favourite author!

A great read, but wish I had known it was a series prior to reading. I do think you can read as stand alone, as I did, but can’t promise you’re not missing things. I didn’t feel as though I was lost, but may not realize, since I’ve not read previous!

Well written, intense, thrilling, and chilling! Quite hard to put down at times, as it really grabs your attention and holds it! Has some real whodunnit throughout! Lots of twists and turns, thrills, and shocks! I highly recommend and will definitely be getting past books to give a read! Highly, highly recommend!

It has been a while since I have had the opportunity to sit back, relax and indulge in reading a crime thriller. Although having secured her position as a top crime writer, this is the first of Cara Hunter’s books that I have read: and there are quite a few Fawley cases that I have missed. This, however, did not hamper my enjoyment one iota. Hunter provides her readers with a very handy crib sheet, outlining her characters, their foibles, and histories -both personal and professional- allowing the Hunter novice to fully catch up with any important detail that had been missed and to hit the story running.
From the outset, we are thrust into an unusual version of the older academic asserting their power by preying on the younger student where, in this instance, the academic is female and the student a brawny male: an almost improbable, but possible, accusation of sexual assault.
The story is told from multiple perspectives, first- and third person- narrative, crime files, newspaper reports and text messages, all of which encourage rapid page turning and total immersion. The pace of the story telling is phenomenal, the twists and turns will delight the armchair sleuth, and the denouement will most definitely surprise. A great and thrilling read.
I now need to catch up with those books that I have missed.

Queen Cara has done it again! Another absolutely fantastic read and one which I have devoured in just one sitting.

This may even be my new favourite of the series- which is a huge statement because I absolutely adore all of Cara's books.

I love that we have revisited DI Fawley and other characters that we have met within previous books. I have been completely gripped by this one. Hunter has pulled me in from very early on and made this a book that I have been unwilling and unable to put down.

Just when I think I figured it out, there's a twist and turn. This has really made the tension and suspense high, I have been constantly guessing about where this was going to go.

This is extremely well written and will captivate you quickly. The characters are likeable and realistic, we even get a full reminder of each at the very beginning.

I have read all of Cara's books and love them all. It's no secret that I am a huge fan of this author. This book may possibly be my new favourite- I am already eagerly anticipating more books from the gorgeous Cara.

I cannot say anything negative about this author at all. This is another gripping and impossible to put down book which will definitely be a favourite of 2021. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Fifth in the ever popular DI Adam Fawley series, and ‘The Whole Truth’ is as fresh and inventive as the first.

Two storylines this time around, the first being a student/professor sexual abuse claim - but what makes this one really stand out, is the fact that the accuser is a strapping six foot rugby playing Male, and the predator is his highly accomplished Female professor.

The second storyline is a murder case that brings very much to the fore an attack some 18 years previously on DI Fawley’s wife Alex. There appears to be a connection, with the victim being known to both Fawley and his wife. Additionally, Alex’s attacker has recently been released from prison. This particular case though, will have unexpected and frightening consequences for Fawley himself.

This crime thriller is very ambitious, but it succeeds on all levels. It has plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Hunter is an accomplished writer, creating tension that is palpable, and there’s a real poignancy and compassion at the heart of the plot, as she weaves a layer of sensitivity towards her characters, which makes them vulnerable and human. I remember reading the first in the series and saying that it had all the makings of a great series, and that has proven to be the case. Brilliant!

Wow, just wow.  How have I not read any of Cara Hunter’s books before?  Although this is part of a DI Fawley series (soon to be televised), it can just as easily be read standalone.

Adam Fawley and his wife Alex are expecting a baby after the death of their son.  Alex requires full rest during the latter stages of pregnancy, which is difficult for Fawley, due to a serious missing person case in Oxford.  Added to that are the sexual harassment claims made about one of the high-profile university professors by one of her pupils.

Fawley is set-up for the murder of the missing woman and his team need to do all they can to prove his innocence.

This book kept me interested throughout, it was good and flowed well, building to a crescendo finale.  The only negative comment that I would make is that there are so many characters involved, I found it difficult to work out who some of the people were, even as I got to the end.  The character introduction helped.

This aside, I still rate this book 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 and would thoroughly recommend it.  Cara Hunter is being added to my MUST READ MORE OF list!

New to DI Adam Fawley I was hooked from the outset by the sexual assault investigation. Unexpectedly it was an allegation against a prestigious professor by one of her students. But who’s telling the truth? This storyline runs in parallel to Adam’s heavily pregnant wife and her concerns about being watched and to the abduction, rape and murder of a friend very close to home. Could the unthinkable be true? Impressed by the way the stories interweave and influence each other. My mind constantly flip flopping between the possibilities. An outstanding supporting cast of criminal procedure and dogged police work. Excellent!

I've tried to read this twice but as it's the sixth book in the series, it seems like I can't follow.

I did enjoy the explanations of all the characters in the beginning, it did feel like I had to keep jumping back to that so very well thought out.

Thank you for the opportunity!

I received an ARC of this book via netgalley and am very grateful for the opportunity to review it. This is the 5th book in the DI Adam Fawley oeuvre and is by far the best. Each book has had an individual case for Fawley to unravel whilst also referencing another case, that of - The roadside Rapist which has personal relevance to the DI.

This book, occurs following the release of the man convicted as the roadside rapist and at a time whenDI Fawley is investigating another Rape accusation. A murder of a friend of the Fawley's sees Adam come under suspicion with seemingly convincing evidence.

It is difficult to say more about the concurrent investigations without giving anything away. Suffice it to say the author has created a tangle of interweaving threads to keep the reader guessing.

What I really like about these books are the way the characters are portrayed - real characters with personal flaws but a team that sings from a point of strength. I do hope there are more to come

A DI Adam Fawley tale has never disappointed me and "The Whole Truth" is no different.
Hunter is an expert in writing comfortable yet honest and believable characters, that somehow I cannot bare to tear myself away from.
Set in Oxfordshire (where I currently reside) I know I am somewhat biased, but I can assure other readers that the city and its surrounds are the perfect setting for such daring criminal tales.

Without spoiling the content, "The Whole Truth" looks at incredibly uncomfortable social issues and genuine need for justice and does just what it says on the cover - gets 'the whole truth' to come out in the end.
Despite being so familiar with Hunter's writing style and the characters from previous books, I was nothing but floored by some of the twists and turns I would never have predicted.

Well worth reading, as are the books that come before it.

I received this eBook on @netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, especially as it was so different to other Thrillers I have read as it included images, investigation reports, text messages, emails etc! But what I liked the most was that Cara Hunter puts a ‘catch up’ at the beginning of all the characters. I haven’t read any of her books before so this was so useful!

There is a lot going on in the book, two cases running alongside each other, but they are very different so you don’t have any confusion.

Although I guess the perpetrator and bits of the plot quite early on, actually the full ending was a bit of a surprise!

It was also quite fun having places mentioned from where I live (Newbury) so I could picture the Police Station, and the Junctions mentioned on the A34 well.

I thoroughly recommend this book, I couldn’t put it down. And I will definitely read more of her books!
