A community was a safe place-the strength being in people who stuck together and took care of one another. But communities suffered together as well. What hurt one person hurt everyone.

Isaiah Yoder is picking up the pieces that his father Abe had thrown away. A good name, a good community and the trust of his community. Isaiah's father was the preacher of Bountiful, Pa and since his imprisonment for fraud, many young people have left the community.

Isaiah is determined to bring redemption to himself and his sisters. The first redemption he receives his a job working with his best friend's fiancé Bethany. Her father owns a book shop and has offered him a job. One of the young people that have left the community is Bethany's fiancé. Her attitude towards Isaiah is one of judgment but they soon become friends as Isaiah proves himself. The friendship takes a turn when a secret of Bethany's comes to light and Isaiah becomes not only a friend but a trusted friend.

Several insightful truths of the gospel came into light with their story. Exposing sin into the light of God's grace brings healing. The pull of this is real and this brought up very well in Bethany's plight. Both Bethany and Isaiah come into terms about what working out your salvation means in tangible ways that is refreshing and needed. Highly recommend.

A special thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I liked this book, as I felt that it gave a realistic view of life in an Amish community. Isaiah had my full sympathy from the beginning of this book. He was completely innocent of his dad’s crimes, but he was facing the unfair assumptions of guilt from the Amish community. Isaiah was determined to hold on to his integrity and honesty, and he had my admiration throughout the whole story. There’s much to learn about how to extend grace, love, and forgiveness to those who are hurting, and Patricia Johns did a great job following through on those themes in this book. I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Sweet love story about a young Amish couple. Very realistic characters and an endearing plot make this a nice read for the holidays.

A book that is a bit different than what I normally read but there is certain truth to this story.
I loved the realistic view of the Amish and that the author didn't try to hide it. I love that she shows that the Amish aren't perfect in anyway.
I enjoyed this story to the fullest.
There were some characters that I found myself shaking my head at, others that found myself hurting for and hoping that things would turn out OK for them.
The only thing that I didn't like was all the judging that was going on. That should only be God's job. Not ours.
I highly recommend.
5 stars for this wonderful clean Amish fiction book.
My thanks for a copy of this book.
I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

The Infamous Amish series begins with this book in which the author portrays the Amish community in a different way than most Amish novels. The characters are more human, judgemental of others but flawed in their own ways. An honest account of trying to rectify misdeeds of a father. A decision to be honest and forthcoming no matter the consequences. All in this emotional story of Bethany and Isaiah. Looking forward to the next in the series.

I've never read any books by this author before, so I was excited to get a chance to.
I love reading Amish fiction books, they give you a glimpse into what the Amish life, that is so very private from there Englisher's, is like. The different laws from the Ordung, the views on religion and their day to day lives.
The things that we go through they also go through. We have the same problems and hardships they do and this book is a good example of that. We all fall in love, want to get married, and have a family. Sometimes that doesn't happen because of one reason or another so a lot of us look to God (Gott) for help.
This book is a good example of going through a really difficult time for 2 of the main characters and how they turn to God (Gott), their family, community and each other for friendship.
This book is good and I look forward to reading more by this author. I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for the advanced copy of the ARC. They asked for my honest opinion and this is my honest opinion.

Patricia Jones has written a very interesting book containing the idea of broken promises, out of wedlock pregnancies and swindling happening in a small Amish community? Well, these problems do exist and Patricia comes up with a unique solution to very real problems.

This book has 5 stars written all over it. Can’t wait for the next on the series.

Preorder for your copy today. Release Day is January 26, 2021.

What a delightful book written by the author.

I have read other books by the same author and this book didn’t disappoint me.

The characters in the plot are relatable. The storyline is unique itself and so many themes to glean.

The book cover and title made me curious.

Amish Christian Fiction genre will still remain my favourite genre. I really enjoy reading about the Amish life especially the tight knitted community and their love for sumptuous meals.

I highly recommend this book for lovers of second chances, forgiveness and many more.

4 stars rating.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are mine.

The book starts out with Isaiah looking for his sister. While looking, he runs into Bethany. The fiancé of his best friend Micah. It seems Micah has run away for the same reason Isaiah's sister has left.

Isaiah's father was arrested for stealing money from his neighbors. Many people lost emergency fund, life savings, retirement money, etc. Many young adults have had their faith shaken by this and have fled for another life. Isaiah and Bethany are two of many that have to deal with the consequences of such a scandal.

Through it all they both find in one another someone they need and have to overcome guilt, shame, and humiliation to find the plan God has for them.

Patricia Johns weaves a masterful story about theft, lies, betrayal, and ultimately truth. There are several themes in this story: forgiveness, honesty, holding up appearances, and finding your way again in the midst of incredible difficulty and loss. Bethany and Isaiah both enter this story looking for a way out of their current situations. They are both Amish, but instead of being perfect and from perfect families, like we kind of expect of them, one is dealing with the choices they made and the other choices that another made that has affected them. In this fast-paced, easy read, I think the message you will receive is that nobody is perfect, but God can redeem us, despite ourselves. We learn a bit about the Amish culture, which to me is always fascinating, but you also encounter some unexpected scenes. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves reading about the Amish culture, anyone who loves clean romance stories, and anyone who enjoys clean reads. I would also recommend this book to anyone who needs to know that God can and will work out our difficult circumstances, we just have to be honest and trust in Him. Thank you to Zebra books and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book. All views and opinions are entirely my own.

This book was received as an ARC from Kensington Books - Zebra in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was unexpectedly amazing for a Christian Fiction novel and thrilling to the max with the backstory of The Glick Family and the actions of Abe Yoder. I was so compelled by the plotline and personalities of the characters that it made the story more interesting and more eye-catching than the Christian Fiction I am used to reading. The struggle and rules the Amish and the Englischer's have are intensely followed that I have also learned a lot of the culture and that was a reward in itself.

We will consider adding this title to our Christian Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

This is the first book I have read by Patricia Johns and I loved it! She took a different step in the direction of Amish inspirational stories and turned them more into the realistic people that they are, flaws and all. No romanticizing the Amish way of life in the book. I loved how both leads were facing everyday issues, Isaiah with the betrayal of faith and trust with his father's shortcomings and turning to crime, and Bethany with succumbing to sins of the flesh.

It is a great story about picking up the pieces of one's life and learning to face the truth and move forward with

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Zebra Books, for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of the book! I recommend this book to all!

Thank’s to NetGalley for an ARC copy for a honest review. It’s a clean romance, I enjoyed the characters, a book I enjoyed reading. Great story! Isaiah's father has gone to prison for fraud against Amish and Englischers, This leaves Isaiah and his sisters to deal with the anger and distrust of the Amish community. Bethany is a girl who has been engaged to Micah, until Micah leaves the Amish community. Unfortunately, he leaves Bethany pregnant. He returns for a short time, willing to marry her if she will also leave the Amish, but she doesn't want to. Isaiah has always cared for Bethany, and those feeling deepen as they work together. Wonderful clean romance that I greatly enjoyed!

This is the second book I have read by Patricia Johns & they have both been amazing reads! Johns is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. She seems to take the Amish storyline and bring more life to it and takes it out of the ordinary Amish stories. In this story, Isaiah's father who was the preacher, has fallen from grace because of his dishonest ways. Isaiah is left to pick up the pieces after his father basically lost everything of his family's.

At the same time, Bethany's fiancée, Micah has also left the Amish world and gone out into the English world. Before he left, he and Bethany were intimate and left her with the ultimate problem to deal with. Isaiah becomes Bethany's confidant and best friend as he is committed to staying Amish and righting the wrongs of his dad and fellow Amish who have fled the faith.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Zebra Books, for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of the book! A great read!!!
