Brody and Elle are a sweet story of love after loss. My favourite characters were Miss Sassy and Bryn. Everyone should have at least one of these ladies in their life.

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman by Jennie Marts is a Creedence Horse Rescue. Elle found herself a widow after the accident, and not quite a mother. She had tons of money from Ryan's insurance but it was almost a burden. She loved volunteering at the horse rescue. It was one bright spot in her life. One night she was soaking in a tub of hot water when she heard sirens. It was her house that was on fire. She had put a skillet on to heat up some grease and forgotten about it. Her kitchen was destroyed and the rest of her house was sodden and smelly. A mutual friend of hers and Bryn's (the owner of the rescue), Dr. Brody Tate, the local vet, had gotten her out of the house and was now taking her to stay with Bryn, at least for the night. He was good-looking, gentle and kind, and he was just what she needed on this horrible night. In the days that followed, she saw plenty of him at the rescue and met his daughter. Turns out he was widowed. She felt herself sinking into him, but felt guilty because of Ryan. Could this go anywhere?

Brody Tate was the ideal guy ad a whole lot of women in town were not happy when they started seeing Elle and him together often. His daughter, who was 10 going on 25, loved her, mostly because she worked and stayed at the horse rescue. Both Elle and Brody had survivor's guilt, which meant moving forward was fraught with emotions. It was a good story with plenty of twists and turns to get to the happily-ever-after. Definitely worth a read, if for no other reasons than the full-of-personality-animals that made their way to what was supposed to be a horse rescue.

I really enjoy cowboy books but felt like this hero was more vet than cowboy...

That being said this story was super sad on both ends. Brody had lost his wife and Elle had lost her husband and both were just doing their best to survive. I cannot even imagine the pain of losing a spouse and at times it was hard reading. I did appreciate how well they could relate to each other but I wish they both would have given each other the benefit of the doubt more.

It wasn't a bad read but I didn't fall in love with either character either. Everything was way too rushed.

This is not a clean/sweet read but those scenes can be skipped and one would still get the whole story.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman
Jennie Marts
Brody and Elle
Brody is a local veterinarian with a ten year old daughter, Mandy. Elle is volunteering at her friend’s animal rescue ranch. Brody and Elle have both experienced the loss of their partner- and it hurt so much neither have had any relationships since then. Elle has developed a friendship with Mandy and has an attraction to her father. Brody is attracted to Elle and they even have some hanky panky but both are just too scared of a relationship. However when a grass fire threatens Elle both Brody and Elle realize they should take the risk of loving each other.
Jennie Marts’ books are always sweet, humorous and a little bit sexy. And this was no exception. She does excellent character development, especially with the hero. You’ll fall in love with Brody, Elle and Mandy as they fall in love with one another. Although part of a series, this could easily be read as a standalone.
I would recommend this book to my patrons.

This is a book you won’t want to put down. You root for the Brody and Elle to get together. The animals are a nice addition.

This is such a powerful, emotive read with humour, too. It is a contemporary romance in which the spouses of both main characters has died, leaving them somewhat bereft but don’t let you image it to be a heartbreaking read, it does pull on your heartstrings but there are plenty of light-hearted moments and times to laugh out loud, too.

A fire in her kitchen brings veterinarian Brody Tate into the life of Elle Brooks, when he lets her know that their mutual friend Bryn insists on Elle moving in with her whilst her home is repaired. You’ve really got to love Bryn – she owns and runs the Heaven Can Wait Horse Rescue ranch, where Elle volunteers, and has such a huge, warm heart! Some of the most amazing characters in this story are actually animals on the Rescue ranch, including a pig who thinks he’s a dog, a tortoise that enjoys red foods, a goat that is an escape artist and leads the other animals into mischief, a horse that loves being sung to and cute puppies, too!

Get ready for two very wounded folk, wary of loving again, fighting their mutual attraction but who fate – and Brody’s ten year old daughter – has plans for. This is such a emotionally moving story, one where grief, guilt and anxieties could put an end to their chance of a HEA together but also where feisty Mandy, some gorgeous rescued animals and lots of love will help save the day. There is plenty of drama, love, laughter and romance in this beautiful story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can’t recommend it highly enough!

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

What can I say? Creedence just kind of grows on you. So, when I saw another one of the Creedence Horse Rescue series on Net galley, I just did a happy dance.

(In my mind, of course, wouldn't want anyone to catch me dancing with my e-reader, LOL). After we met Bryn in A cowboy state of mind, we already learned that Bryn collects strays. And she doesn't stop at animals. She also has taken Elle under her wing.

Elle has a hard time to start living again, after her husband died. She finds some happiness again in helping out Bryn with all her animals. And when a kitchen fire leaves her homeless for the next few weeks, she finds herself on a couch at Bryn's.

Elle gets regular visits from Mandy, the 10-year old daughter of the hot veterinarian Brody, who seems to take a liking to both Elle as the animals at the Heaven can wait Rescue. Brody has been raising Mandy on his own, since his wife died over cancer 5 years ago. Having experienced the pain the loss has cost him, and his beautiful daughter, has made him reluctant to even start dating again. But he recognizes the pain on Elle and they both enjoy spending time together. And although they both are scared to fall in love again, the seem to can't stop it from happening. Add in a spunky 10-year old and some hilarious animals, who have been rescued by Bryn and you have some great ingredients for a cozy read. Heartwarming, cute and funny, with some tears along the way. What a wonderful read.

Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This one about Brody and his daughter, Mandy and how they deal with the loss of his wife and Mandy's mother. Elle is going through a loss and dealing with it pretty much on her own. This is book two in the series and is a standalone read but a great series to read.

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman is the second novel in Jennie Marts' Creedence Horse Rescue series, and I was eager to read it since I truly enjoyed the first novel in the series, and, as I now know, Jennie Marts doesn't disappoint, because I liked this novel as much as the first, and it gets the same 4.5-star rating from this reader.

The first thing you need to know about this deeply emotional and heartfelt novel is that it's about the loss of a spouse, two spouses, in fact. The hero, Dr. Brody Tate, a veterinarian, lost the love of his life, his wife Mary, to cancer 5 years earlier, and is now raising his adorable 10-year-old daughter, Mandy, alone. Elle Brooks, who moved to Creedence, Colorado with her beloved husband, Ryan, lost him a year ago in a car accident, and lost their baby daughter too. Both characters are still dealing with those losses.

As the novel opens, Elle is just getting out of the bathtub, when she hears sirens, and people in her home. She soon learns that those voices belong to firemen and the her kitchen is ablaze. One of the people who shows up and gets her safely out of the house is Dr. Brody Tate, whom she's met while volunteering at the Heaven Can Wait Horse Rescue, owned and operated by her friend, Bryn, whom we met in the first book in this series. When the ash settles, she eventually learns that her kitchen will take 4-6 weeks to repair, and Bryn, really her only friend in town, invites her to stay at her home/rescue facility for the duration, and this is where she gets to know Brody and his irresistibly cute and funny daughter, Mandy.

Told with a great deal of warmth, simple human kindness, friendship, some heat, and quite a bit of hilarity, this novel drew me in from the start and never let go--from the main characters to the kind and generous neighbors, and especially the rescued animals, which include a hog named Tiny, who thinks she's a dog, an escape artist goat, a 40 lb. tortoise, neglected and abandoned dogs, puppies, horses, and even a miniature horse. Their escapes and escapades are priceless, as is the rapidly growing bond between Elle and Brody's daughter, Mandy. The secondary characters in town are also people you'll soon wish you knew personally, and the slowly building relationship between Elle and Brody is both charming and heartbreaking--these two characters have both loved deeply and lost, and are as attracted to one another as they are fearful of loving and losing again.

My only issue with this novel was the absence of an epilogue and the rather abrupt ending. I so hoped we'd get a chance to see the future of his couple, a year or so beyond the HEA ending. Of course, we can imagine it, but it's something I would have preferred that the very talented Ms. Marts had included. Other than that, I absolutely loved this novel, it's setting, it's characters, and am eagerly looking forward to any and all future novels in this excellent series.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions stated are my own.

Second chance at life😍

When a cowboy loves a woman is the second book in the Creedence Horse Rescue series and it’s a wonderful story with great characters and has a little bit of everything in it❣️

Brody is a Veterinarian and along with his daughter Mandy they help out at the Creedence Horse Rescue on occasion. One night there’s a small fire and Brody steps up to help when he realises it’s Elle. As they spend more time together, both Elle and Brody’s pasts seem to make them both more wary and cautious about moving forward....even if it’s with each other😳

As I said before this book has a little bit of everything in it which made it that much more enjoyable❣️ I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

When a Cowboy Loves a Woman by Jennie Marts is a tender heart string pulling story of two wonderful people. Elle Brooks and Brody Tate both know what life is like after “death do you part” happens. This story will have you falling in love with Brody’s young daughter, Mandy as well as rooting for these two to take a chance on love again.

It is the perfect mix of a wonderful setting at the horse rescue ranch with strong resilient characters and animals. When a Cowboy Loves a Woman is a story that pulls you right in and hold your attention until the concluding last scene. Everything you expect from this author, she delivers.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the electronic copy of When a Cowboy loves a Woman by Jennie Marts. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this delightful book prior to publication. My opinions are my own, and nothing has influenced my rating.

When a Cowboy loves a Woman is a well written western romance with an adorable heroine. The pacing kept me engaged from the beginning to the end. Ms. Marts gave me just enough description without going too far.

Elle Brooks is the heroine, and she’s such a sweet-natured character who has gone through a great deal of heart ache. She lost her husband and soon after suffered a miscarriage that devastated her. She can’t imagine ever opening her heart to another. While I’ve never been a widow, I could relate to her pain of loss of the only link she had of her late husband. I enjoyed her astonishment when the sexy veterinarian saves her from her house fire.

Brody Tate is the yummy hero. What is most appealing about Brody is his easy-going attitude and his unconditional love for his sweet daughter and his beloved animals. He has all the attributes I most admire in a hero.

The romance between Elle and Brody is sweet and both are hesitant after suffering the loss of their spouses. Elle Loved her late husband and it is difficult for her to move beyond her grief. Brody has also lost his wife, so both move slowly. For me that makes this romance more believable. I enjoyed the slow burn between them and wanted them to find their happy ending.

If you enjoy western romances with endearing characters and an emotionally charged plot, then you will love When a Cowboy loves a Woman as much as I did. I can’t wait to read the next book in this fantastic series. Happy reading!

I absolutely LOVED this book. The characters are so warm, honest, and inspiring and the story just captured my heart. Elle and Brody work wonderfully together as they help each other learn to love again. Throw in an adorable ten year daughter and a bunch of crazy animals and you have one unforgettable story. Put this one high on the must read list. I definitely recommend it.

A beautiful, emotional, sweet one-sitting romance.

Guys, when I say my eyes leaked more than once, I absolutely mean it. I found myself welling up at the shared grief of Brody and Elle, and the relationship that developed between them—and with Brody's precocious 10 year old daughter, Mandy. The thing is, a strong message can always be found at the core of Jennie Marts' books—she is a writer with a talent for making her meaning clear without over-preaching it—and When a Cowboy Loves a Woman is no exception, so I probably should've dived in armed with a couple of tissues. Thankfully, as is usually the case, there were several lighthearted, feel good moments (courtesy of some rather creative animals) to balance out the deeper stuff—see above re: tissues—and I couldn't help but smile a time or two or twenty whenever Aunt Sassy made an appearance.

All in all, this is a book that I can comfortably say I loved reading. There is some back-and-forth (and mixed messages) from our protagonists, but it worked in keeping with the story, so if you can handle that—and some tense moments fraught with danger and regrets—then you're going to love When a Cowboy Loves a Woman, just like me. Enjoy!

When A Cowboy Loves A Woman by Jennie Marts is a wonderfully written romance story. This story covered so many emotions, with hope, humor, as well as grief and pain. This is Brody and Elle’s romance story. These two had so much to overcome, as they both lost a spouse, and were not looking for romance. This couple has a lot to overcome before they can open themselves to another relationship. I especially enjoyed the humor with the animals in the story. This author’s stories are always excellent, and her writing style really draws the reader into the story. This is a feel-good story about finding the courage to accept another chance at love. I highly recommend this book to all the romance readers out there.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this advanced copy of the book for my book review.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I did read the previous book with Bryn and Zane but it has been a bit so I don't remember much and felt that I was ready this book as a stand alone and didn't feel like I was missing any details.

Both Brody and Elle have suffered the lose of a spouse and were fighting the attraction they felt as they seemed to think it was a betrayal to move on from their deceased loved one.

I like that this was a slow moving relationship and that they did not jump into anything quickly not just because they both had a spouse die but Brody also has a daughter to add to the mix.

Brody really disappointed me when Mandy got hurt and broke things off with Elle but what really annoyed me was that he expected her to fight for their relationship! I am not even sure that I would have and I am not in Elle's situation - he was pretty quick to judge and cruel when he ended things. He really should have had to do some more groveling in my opinion...lol

I was also a bit confused on the fire in the kitchen and the door left open. I finally had to reread the beginning and see that Elle left the door open when she fled the house during the fire but there was no explanation why she left the stove on - was she just really distracted from her grief??? Just wish there was a bit more explanation on that part.

Loved that Bryn and Zane were part of the book, and can't wait for the next book with Cade, who we just met. The animals were so funny and loved that Glory was so devoted to Elle. Great wrap up and HEA!

What a beautiful, romantic story filled with humor, love, grief, pain, and hope. The antics of the animals made me laugh and the parallel between Elle and Roxy was very emotional. I really liked all of the characters in this story of second chances. It was interesting that Elle and Brody had both lost their spouses and were not looking for love when love found them.

I also liked that this book was so full of emotional moments, funny moments, moments to learn lessons, and moments of hope for Elle, Brody, and Mandy's future. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

When A Cowboy Loves A Woman is the second title in the Creedence Horse Rescue series and brings us a romance between two people who have lost so much, aren’t looking for romance, yet when fate and that certain spark hits it’s impossible to deny their attraction.

Most of what you’d really need to know before picking up Elle and Brody’s story can be found in the Cover Description Blurb. But that doesn’t tell you about the emotions flying through this story or the antics of some pretty special, unique animals either.

Both Elle and Brody have experienced the crushing emotions of losing their life partners to death, Elle knows what it’s like to endure the emotional pain of miscarriage as well. Neither ever expected to pick up the emotional reins of a relationship again yet fate often puts the right people in our paths when we need them most.

I enjoyed When A Cowboy Loves A Woman very much. Watching this couple open themselves up to the possibility of finding love again was an emotional journey that was highly seasoned with laughter and snort-giggles at the antics of some of the animals that make their home at the ranch. Add a tween into the mix and you have a story full of emotions, laughter, tears, some angst but always possibilities. I had a delightful time back in the Creedence Horse Rescue world and look forward to the next visit in December 2021.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion. After a house fire Elle meets the town vet Brody who came to her rescue that night of the fire. As they begin to spend more time together both have mixed feelings about a relationship, due past love loss.
When they feel they are getting too close they start to push each other away but after an accident the relationship may permanently end.
The author has a way of drawing you in and making you feel all the struggles these two go through. In the end, another fire brings their feelings to the forefront again and a certain little someone, who already has Brodys heart, proves love is worth fighting for.
4.5 stars

4.5 stars. I love this author. I always feel so good after reading her books. I love Elle and Brody together and love his daughter too. The story is fantastic and is as as sweet as it is sometimes emotional and all the other stuff you want in a romance. I love second chances especially when they work out. Great read!
