This is a romance, and this is the third book in the Welcome to Starlight series. This is a short and quick read. I love this story so much. I love both the main characters, and they where very developed. The main characters went to high school together, but so much as happen since high school. Now, both of them still loves each other, but they cannot tell each other that they love each other. I got pulled into this story so fast, and I love the little twist that would not that big. This is a cute story, but it has enough drama to keep you wanting to read. I love that the main female character was a stronger hard headed character that stands up for herself. I do not feel that this is super about Christmas, but there is a little about Christmas in the story. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Special Edition) or author (Michelle Major) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Brynn didn't have the best marriage buts she did what she can after being widowed and finding out that her husband died with his mistress it seems he had more then just one when everyone keeps revealing themselves in different ways. Nick and Brynn has a pas that they can't get over and he's trying to redeem himself and do what he can to help Brynn this holiday season.

Okay so I know its not the holiday season but I'm noticing there was a couple books that I didn't notice that was on my holiday tbr list that I haven't read yet including this book. Usually I hope for holiday books to scream christmas and get me into the holiday mood but while this book was set during christmas it could be read at any point there was a couple things here and there that were holiday but this was a pretty good contemporary romance. This book was about healing and getting past old hurt. I mean it was clear that Brynn was having a hard time dealing with her husbands infidelity but she did what she could to look past it and do something more when things keep coming at her about her husband loose ways. There was Nick who was really trying to do everything he can to help Brynn which was kinda sweet. Then theres the romance, the being around eachother more during the holiday season working together it was the recipe for a bit of romance. Overall this was a pretty good book I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4 stars for this second-chance Christmas romance! Brynn is left reeling after learning that her husband died in a car crash - along with his mistress. She is trying to find the new normal while working and raising her 10 year old son on her own. Right before Christmas, her longtime friend Nick shows up with yet another of her husband's mistresses. She has a baby in tow, says she is in a bad place and Brynn offer's to let them stay the night. What will end up happening with the baby? And Nick?

Their second-chance at love was just too adorable. I loved the way Brynn and Nick both pined for each other, but Brynn just would not give in! I was rooting for Nick from the beginning and I am so glad I got the HEA I was after!

This is the third installment in the Welcome to Starlight Series. You do not have to read the previous books to know what its going on. The love stories from the previous books were mentioned, and it made me want to read them! I think I will be going back to start this series from book #1.

This is a perfect book for you if you love second chance at love stories, a little family drama, and HEAs!

His Last Chance Christmas Family
Welcome to Starlight #3
Michelle Major

Michelle Major’s latest in her Welcome to Starlight series could have been titled Clueless in Starlight, a heartwarming story about two once best friends who really need each other now, friends who have let life’s difficulties get between them. Nick is the clueless one and readers will once or twice or three times want to literally knock some sense into him. Brynn on the other hand has such a big heart that she’s willing to love her dead husband’s baby with another woman but is so pragmatic that she can’t see Nick’s love through the disappointments life has given her. But Michelle pulls these two deserving people together beautifully and will make readers laugh and cry along the way. It’s fun to have a catch up with previous series characters and enjoy all the trappings of the holiday season. Of course it’s the two kids who steal the show Tyler with his precocious and precious antics and baby Remi because, well baby. Well done!

Brynn Hale has been holding on by a thread since her husband died along with his mistress in a tragic car accident but she has to hold it together for her 10-year old son. Then as if karma hasn’t been hard enough on her another of her husband’s mistresses abandons their baby and leaves her with Brynn. Like it or not she’ll have to rely on her once BFF, Starlight’s hunky Police Chief, the man who once upon a time broke her heart.
Nick Dunlap has always loved Brynn he just didn’t know until now it was love, trouble is he’s not good enough for her, but even so she needs his help more now than ever when her cheating husband’s progeny is left on her doorstep so he better just man up and do all he can. And make sure he keeps his hands to himself.

Terrific friends-to-lovers/second chance story. Brynn recently lost her husband when he died in a crash - along with his latest mistress. After ten years of an unhappy marriage and putting a brave face on for the town, she is ready to take back her life. One part of her past is Nick, her best friend growing up, and her high school crush. Their friendship hasn't been the same since then, and she misses it. Nick is now the police chief in Starlight but still feels like he hasn't lived down his high school reputation. At that time, he was the town bad boy with a revolving door of girlfriends.

I was sucked into this story from the beginning. I liked Brynn. Her life hasn't been an easy one, but she made it work. Getting pregnant just before high school graduation and marrying the baby's father hadn't been her preferred plan. I was impressed by her determination to be a good mother and how she kept working to improve her life. I loved that she kept her head up even when she was the subject of the town's gossips. I liked Nick too. Yes, he'd been a selfish jerk in high school and not a very good friend to Brynn. But losing both his brother and his father in a short period of time changed him.

I liked the development of the relationship between Brynn and Nick. Brynn had never lost her old crush on him, and her encounters with him since Daniel's death have added to the attraction she still feels for him. Nick regretted his high school idiocy for years. He stayed friends with Brynn and Daniel during their marriage but kept his feelings under wraps. Nick feels guilty over being the one who set Brynn up with Daniel and is now determined to do everything he can to help her, however she needs it. But he also refuses to do anything about those feelings for fear of hurting her again.

Their lives take an unexpected twist when one of Daniel's girlfriends shows up with his baby, then disappears, leaving the baby with Brynn. Brynn falls in love with little Remi and wants to keep her, but circumstances place Remi with Nick as her foster parent. A fire at Brynn's house sends her and Tyler to stay with Nick while their home is repaired. As the four of them settle into a pseudo-family, the sparks between Nick and Brynn continue to grow. I loved Nick's connection with young Tyler, his unexpected bond with little Remi, and his yearning to make this temporary life permanent. I loved watching him overcome his fears and his sweet attempts to "court" Brynn. His biggest problem was his protectiveness and wanting to shield her from things that could hurt her.

Meanwhile, Brynn had been working hard at taking charge of her life. Her feelings for Nick continue to grow, fed by his care and belief in her. She's just beginning to believe that they have a future together when an unexpected visitor blows a hole in that dream. I ached for Brynn and her feelings of betrayal and hurt. Her anger was believable, and I liked how she confronted Nick over it. I felt a little sorry for Nick because he hadn't realized what he was doing and is devastated by what she said. Their misery oozed off the page, and I could feel their pain. I liked how their friends supported them while also pointing out some things neither Nick nor Brynn had considered before. I liked Nick's big moment in the end and his heartfelt declaration of his feelings.

I liked the secondary characters. Brynn's son Tyler was terrific. He's a good kid with a big heart who is portrayed as a relatively normal ten-year-old boy. I loved his fascination with the baby, and he was adorable with her. He also had a few instances where he wasn't quite so sweet, adding to the story's realism. I also liked Brynn and Nick's friends and both the support and the tough love they need.

After reading the book, I was a little confused by the back-of-the-book blurb. Brynn wasn't returning to Starlight; she's lived there her whole life. This is part of her self-confidence issue as she felt judged by others her entire life. As for Nick, I recall nothing about his parents discouraging him about Brynn. He blames it all on his selfishness and stupidity.

A beautiful holiday romance with heartwarming and heartfelt feels.
Loved the two main characters, Brynn and Nick♥️. Though at times I wanted to shake some sense into them as they went back and forth in their relationship. Can they overcome their past and go forward in their relationship?
Everyone deserves a second chance....with the magic of a Christmas miracle.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author, Michelle Major, for the opportunity to read this wonderful book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a great book. A fast read but surprisingly deep.
The heroine is confident and strong ... even when it seems everyone has an opinion on what she should do.
The hero is stubborn and very hard on himself. It takes a wonderful woman to shake him up.
A really terrific read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.

Brynn Hale is a single mom, and a widow and she is not even thirty. She is trying her best to work and take care of her son. She has always been the talk of the town when she ended up pregnant in high school, then married the baby’s father. Things did not get any easier when her husband died in a car accident with one of his many girlfriends he kept on the side. Now a young woman has showed up on her doorstep with a baby she claims was Brynn’s husbands. Brynn soon finds herself in a situation that only one person can help with, and that would be Nick Dunlap, her best friend, and Starlight’s Police Chief. Everyone has let her down in her life, but will Nick be the one person she can trust?

When Brynn must wait to be approved as a foster mother, Nick steps right up and takes the baby. He will do anything for Brynn and wants to make up for all the mistakes he made when they were younger. Is it too late for him to make amends for what he did years ago?

This was the sweetest story of best friends who always had feelings for each other, now getting a second chance at love. I loved getting to know the main characters and catching up with characters from the first two novels in the series. If you have not read the first two, do not worry, this can be read as a stand alone novel, as Michelle Major does an excellent job of filling in the back stories. I appreciate how the story was written and the characters developed over a period of time and found their way back to each other. Thank you so much to the author Michelle Major, Harlequin Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was a lovely story! All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.
