Paul likes Gabrielle. At Natalie's Halloween costume party, Paul pretends to hook up with Natalie, and that infuriates Gabrielle. And then there are three freshman girls that show up and are interested in Paul. Paul does end up going home with Gabrielle, where he professes his love for her and she realizes she is also in love with Paul

A very quick read with a happy ending.

This was one of those stories you love to read in between longer, heavier books. The kind you need to “Feel good”. It was short, sexy, and sweet. Hoo Lawdy was it sexy! And, it came out at the right time of year, close to Halloween, because, hint hint, there’s costumes involved.

Unfortunately this novella was a bit of a miss. I was confused at the opening of the book and by the time it finished it seemed to skip a lot of steps in the relationship. The erotica was more fantasy than reality and what was there was not very exciting. Some novellas can be good despite the length but this one just fell flat.

I received a complimentary copy of Treat or Hex in exchange for an honest review. I'm always hesitant to leave a negative review, but this was not a good fit for me. I was so confused with all of the character names and trying to determine when Gabrielle and Paul were acting, and when it was real life. Maybe if the story had been longer, and had a better plot development everything would have made more sense. By the time I figured out the storyline, and what was happening the book was over. On a positive note, it was a short and quick read, if you are looking for something quick.

I wanted to read the entire book, but I couldn't get past the two first pages because of the poor writing style.

I got an advance copy of this book on order to review this book .
Spicy BFF to lovers book. (18+)

This book is a novella so things are short and to the point . At first I thought this book was going to be all about the spice and not have any substance . I was wrong the end pulls in a little substance for the characters , if that hadn't of happened I would have only given this book 2 stars .

I enjoyed this Halloween romance story. This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more from them. This is a well written story that has great developed characters that brought the story to life for me. This is an engaging, fast paced story that kept me turning pages to the end. I had no problems connecting to the characters as I watched them grow throughout the story. This is a story about Gabrielle who is in love with her best friend. What will happen when they go to a costume Halloween party? Will they find what they are each looking for? I really enjoyed the characters and they made the story easy to read. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens to Gabrielle and her best friend. Will they find their HEA?

This book got right to the point! I enjoyed it, a great novella that really keeps your attention. I enjoyed both the charchters and the plot. It was almost like you were really in the book, not just reading it!

This was a descent book a regular friends to lovers with a Halloween twist. I can really expect much from something only 90 pages long but it was still good given the timeframe.

Thank you to NetGalley and Totally Bound Publishing for providing me with an early version of Treat or Hex by Jane Colt, in exchange for my honest review.

Oh my, I don’t even know where to start with this. It’s a novella, which is not my favorite because there’s not enough time to really dig into the characters. That said, I have read many novellas that were able to pull it off. This one did not. It feels flat and fast. From the start, I was out. I finished this one because it was short and I was hoping the erotica portion would be worth it. Sadly it’s not.
There are some fun parts of the story that I think could be interesting if there was time to play with them, but I just, the whiplash, trying to keep up with when they were in character and when they weren’t. It was too much. You have an MC named Gabrielle, that is how she’s introduced, but her friends call her Bree, and to be honest with all the character names, I got so confused that for a couple of pages I through there was an editing mistake.
This is a love story with some dirty words, words that set up a very different story. For me, the words were setting up some sexy rough sex, but the actual sex scenes are tame. I almost would have preferred they be cut to provide more scenes of the actual characters being themselves instead of characters.

As novellas can be tough to connect with, I went into this book with realistic expectations. As such, it was a decent story. There isn't much to it because there is a tight time constraint. It's a simple friends to lovers plot with a twist. A little eroticism is thrown in, along with a surprise or two.

With novellas, you can't expect elaborate character or plot development. It's meant to be a quick story -- in and out so to speak. This one meets those criteria. It was a little hard to follow because you never knew when they were being real or "in character." However, the author handled it cleverly.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions are my own.

Short and steamy, but not a lot of THERE there. Also the opening would have had me DNFing if I hadn't read the blurb and known it was probably an improv scene. They're both TERRIBLE actors... The parts where they're in character doing improv were really over the top and hammy, and the part where they were being themselves basically gave me whiplash with the pacing and the way everyone's emotions turned on a dime. Flat, two-dimensional characters. There's a lot of really descriptive lead-up, but the actual sex scenes are kind of dull, so I can't even chalk it up to "it's erotica, don't expect too much plot."
