This simple book shows the four essential (not where's the bathroom) words to know to get along with people in an assortment of countries around the world. At the end there is a sentence or two highlighting each place visited. The illustrations are simple, colorful, and delightful. Good fun!

A fantastic way to introduce children and adults to languages. These are really useful phrases to learn for travel, and helps to show respect when visiting other countries.

I liked the illustrations overall, which were bright and colourful. However, I do wish that the children weren't shown in a traditional outfits that could be viewed as being stereotypical. It would have been nice instead for there to be regularly dressed children, in front of iconic locations in each country. I think this presents a distorted notion of how people dress in other countries, which isn't what they will see when they visit these places.

I really disliked the inclusion of Australia as a language to learn in this book. I live in Australia and this is not how we speak. We speak English, just as in the UK and the US. Next to nobody really says G'day as a greeting, with the exception of places that cater to tourists and we definitely don't say Horoo. In fact, I have never heard anyone say it and I was born here and lived here my whole life!

I think it would have been better to have added another language from Asia instead, such as Japan, Malay or Hindi. These were the reasons this book lost stars.

I loved this wonderful colourful book. How do you say 'thank you' 'Goodbye' 'Hello' and 'Please' in 18 different langauges. Certainly an easy way to learn something new for adults and children alike. The pictures also represents the countries so lots of scope for learning.

This is a cute little book with beautiful illustrations. Even though the illustrations were beautifully done, several of them feature children in their country's stereotypical garb. For example... the Hawaiian children wear grass skirts. and the Dutch children wear white hats and wooden shoes., whereas other children are wearing modern street clothes. As a classroom teacher, this is a deal-breaker for me.

This was such a cute children’s book! What’s more important than learning how to say hello and goodbye, please and thank you?

The illustrations in this are also gorgeous. Any child would be captivated by the pictures and learn about the country from what’s in the illustration for each country.

I love that this book teaches children how to say please, thank you, hello, and goodbye in so many languages. Whenever we travel to a new country we always try to learn these four words and this book would be a great resource for families that travel.

Impressions: This was a simple book to introduce different countries in the world as well as basic phrases in their language.
Liked: We are studying world countries and the history of the world this year. My son and I enjoyed this book but it was almost to simple for him at 9 yrs. old. For my 5 year old this was perfect.
Disliked: Perhaps a little more information would be beneficial. A map with pin points to the countries in the book would be helpful to the readers. A picture of the countries with the greetings would be nice as well.

Brightly colored illustrations show the joy and adventure as readers travel around the world. The simple text covers the four essential words travelers need - hello, please, thank you, goodbye. The words are shared in each country's language along with a pronunciation guide. I love that the English language is treated the same way not simply assumed that readers speak it.

Great children book for learning basic words in 18 different languages. I like that there is also pronunciation written. That makes it more useful.

This is an excellent book for children who travel or those who are just curious. Useful also for adults who want to learn words like hello, please, thank you, and goodbye. Illustrations are gorgeous and very well done too.

This book really suitable to read during this pandemic. We can’t travel at the moment but reading this book feels like we have travel to 18 countries - US , Netherland , Sweden , Estonia , Russia , Greece , Italy , Germany , France , Spain , Portugal , Kenya , Saudi Arabia , China , Philippines, Australia, Hawaii, Haiti. Not only we have travel to 18 countries but we get to learn 18 languages for the basic words - Hello , Please , Thank You, Goodbye . Some travel tips also have been told in the book 👍🏻👍🏻. Another part that make these books 100% much more interesting is the colourful illustrations. So nice !!! 😍

Around the World in 18 Ways is my introduction to this author/publisher, and it's an adorable one. The illustrations are rich in color and very on trend, and there are many details that can be discovered upon multiple readings (as one is apt to do with children's books).

The text and content is very light, with the bulk of the pages simply demonstrating to little ones how to say hello, please, thank you, and goodbye in 18 different languages. The final pages are made up of a "travel journal" that provides a nugget of culture for each country visited in the book. I would have preferred that these cultural bits were intermixed with the language pages rather than condensed at the end, but I respect that the author wanted to streamline those pages to focus on words of politeness.

Around the world in 18 Ways is a wonderful children’s book. The illustrations are lovely and my children enjoyed learning different languages.

Teaching children in 18 languages to say Hello, Please, Thank you, and Goodbye, this book has lovely illustrations to match the places and languages represented. I am bad at pronunciations so I would need lots of repetitions of this book to get it all right!

This is a sweet and beautifully illustrated book that teaches children how to say "the four most important words" in many languages -- hello, please, thank you and goodbye. There's a nice range of countries represented and there is usually a pronunciation guide. In languages that use different letters/symbols, then instead of the line that would be a pronunciation guide that line spells the word in English, so it's not as clear how to pronounce words that are in languages like Chinese. The end has a little travel journal with fun and interesting little tidbits about the countries by the author, that seem to be based on her own personal experiences in each.

The illustrations are fun and colorful, depicting a range of children in different clothing and cultures. I love that all of Vanita's books donate their profits to charities (generally MS charities, I believe), which is another reason to recommend the book.

Colorful illustrations show smiling multicultural children in a one double page spread for each country. For each of 18 countries visited on this around the world cruise we are taught four words: Hello, Please, Thank you, Goodbye. A “travel journal” included in the backmatter gives some simple information about each of the countries. Young children will enjoy pretending to visit and speak to people around the world but older school age children will want to learn more than is offered in brief introduction to the world. Consider pairing this book with a children’s atlas such as the National Geographic Kids May First Atlas of the World or possibly the Barefoot World Atlas App.

I like learning about other culture and this book is great for that. It's inclusive and informative. Great for kids AND adults. Heck, I am an adult and I learn things with this book. :) A fun and educational book!

I thought that this book was brilliant!

The layout was fun, I liked the same four words/phrases were used in each country - Hello, Please, Thank You and Goodbye and the images were delightful and fun.

I liked the little travel journal at the end with the facts about the different countries too. There would very easily be a follow up and I would definitely be grabbing a copy! A fun way to learn and I learnt words too as an adult!

Was enjoying this title till I got to Australia - all the other countries featured whilst may be similar to others, are nonetheless languages. The repetition of the words between countries and presentation in multiple ways on the page with facts and images to support recognised symbols was effective - a good read to start discussion on other cultures, travel and being sensitive to differences.

I liked the way this book executed the multicultural / travel premise. I liked the inclusion of culture and language. The cover could be a bit more enticing for such a cool book, but as it stands, an informative, fun, and educational read.
