I'll just be upfront with it: I have loved every novel written by C.J. Tudor and Burning Girls is no exception. The scene setting is absolutely perfection: a small town with questionable people and an even more shady past. Strange, creepy bits all around and yet it could be any place you pass as you drive through.

The characters are fantastic. The way the story is told lays them all out for the reader in a fantastic burn that makes it necessary you turn the page. Jack is complex, imperfect, and riddled with secrets, my favorite kind of protagonist. All the rest (Flo, Wrigley, Jacob, etc) add to the complications of the story with unique voices of their own but for me Jack was the best.

The ending was stunning! The plot led up to it perfectly, it tied so many hints together that it was mind-boggling in the best possible way. I even read certain pages twice, just to make sure I was soaking it all in. I cannot recommend this novel, and really this author, enough. It's a fantastic book that any reader, but especially those who enjoy mystery and thrills, will enjoy.

Note: I received a free electronic edition of this book via NetGalley in exchange for the honest review above. I would like to thank them, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to do so.

After a tragedy in Nottingham, Jack is sent to be victor of a small town but this is not going to be a simple post. First, what happened to the old victor and does it have something to do with the two girls who disappeared decades ago. When Jack's daughter's safety starts to come into question she starts digging deeper into this town and their secrets, but hers might be the biggest of all. While all of this is going on is someone from her past hunting her and are her and Flo safe where they are.

This is one of those books that drag you in and keep you reading til the end. This story is full of so many secrets that it keeps you guessing. I definitely recommend.

I was horrified, surprised, broken-hearted, and disgusted while reading this. It was, in short, a terrific horror book, and I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.

Supernatural mystery. Very dark and creepy. It’s a good read for those that like the dark and creepy storylines. I honestly wasn’t sure whether or not I’d like this type of storyline as it isn’t my typical read. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Thank you so much to netgalley and the author for sending me this arc in exchange for my honest review. There were some heavy topics discussed in this one but it was a fast paced, page turning thriller and i enjoyed it quite a bit.

Jack and her daughter Flo have to uproot their lives to move to the small country village of Chapel Croft. After the vicar there committed suicide. But after the arrive very strange and unexplainable things start to happen to both Jack and her daughter. The towns folk arent much help either. and all of these things tie back into the towns dark history. Once they start digging, they begin to realize why there are things about the town the everyone would like to keep under wraps. Legend has it if you start to see the burning girls bad things are coming your way.

how many more people have to die to keep the towns secrets?

I've read two other C.J. Tudor books and I now consider her an audiobuy author. This book was creepy and suspenseful and I didn't see any of the twists coming. I read 80% of this book in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. It wasn't quite a 5 star read for me but it was still really good! I did have a bit of an issue with the Dystonia representation in this book, since someone very close to me has the condition, but my problem is a spoiler.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

I couldnt wait to dig into this book. I was so intrigued by the description of the setting in an English village, the cover and the author. But as I did it just became one big mess for me and honestly I was getting very disturbed by the things that I was reading so I had to stop reading it.

I sometimes have a hard time with CJ Tudor, because it's such an odd blend of mystery and supernatural. This one was no exception, but it was enjoyable and well paced.

C.J Tudor does it again in this paranormal thriller. I really enjoyed the plot twists and characters throughout this novel. Although the vicar is flawed and sins, she has her reasoning behind her career choice and looks upon her congregants without (too much) judgement. While some plot twists I did see coming, the main one at the end caught me by surprise.

The Burning Girls was an eerie story that kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen. While I definitely appreciated the creepiness of this book, I felt it still left much to be desired. The setting was there, the characters were developed, but the plot could have been much darker and intricate.

This was AMAZING. Tudor never ceases to surprise me. The Burning Girls is truly a satisfying thriller from start to finish. I particularly love the way she writes atmospheres and just feeling so immersed in the whatever world she she has created for us to be in. I have read all of her books, and you can bet that I will pick up her next one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for this copy of The Burning Girls by C.J. Tudor.

The Burning Girls is the twisty-turny story of a vicar named Jack and her daughter, Flo. When tragedy forces the pair to relocate to a church in a rural English town, weird things start to happen almost immediately. Strange images appear, the locals don't seem to be too happy to see them and their ramshackle new cottage lacks any of the comforts of home. Things only get weirder the longer that they stay, leading to some of the craziest plot twists that I have ever encountered.

I loved The Burning Girls, finding bits of time to read every chance I got until I finished. Some of the plot twists were so good that I never saw them coming. The Burning Girls came out a couple of months ago but I have recommended it to everyone that I know as a perfect summer read.

I’ll admit I was skeptical going into this book and even after the first few pages - witchy books set around rural churches definitely aren’t my thing, but CJ Tudor has a way of writing really intriguing stories and I ended up really liking where this went. Not a new favorite, but keeps CJ Tudor on my list of thriller authors to keep checking out!

Another thrilling story from Tudor. For some reason, the story took me a bit to get into it, but I am glad I stuck it out. I ended up enjoying it quite a bit!

I have loved all of C.J. Tudors books and this one was no different. So many events seemed to tie into this book, and at first I didn't know how they would all play out in the end, but they fit seamlessly. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good horror/thriller!

I definitely enjoyed parts of this, especially the first 2/3, but as the mysteries were revealed, even though it got more exciting, I liked it less and less, so it fell from a five-star to a three-star rating for me. I know I'm in the minority as many readers loved it
