This is an absolutely beautiful story of Mary, Martha, Lazarus and their families and the miracles that fill their lives after meeting Jesus. It was lovely in every way and one I will return to often. Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for the opportunity to read this book.

A beautiful biblical story of Mary and Martha. The Author has given us more of an inside view of what their lives may have been like. What they may have been thinking and dreaming. They had a very close relationship with their brother Lazarus and he was a gentle loving person to his family and friends. She also expounds on how he met Jesus. And, how Jesus loved him and his family. We read about the questions Mary asks Jesus when he goes to visit their household.
Beautiful story, beautifully written.

I generally enjoy reading novels about Bible characters. There were some parts of this story that I found upsetting and felt they deviated too far from Biblical accounts and what would have been realistic for that time. Sadly these parts distracted from the general story for me.

Although I have read the story of Mary and Martha in the Bible many times, H.B Moore portrayed the story in a very interesting style. It truly captured my interest and held my attention. I like the way Moore incorporates some of the parables shared by Jesus into the novel. He also manages to include the miracles performed by Jesus.

Martha is the sister who loves to serve others around her while Mary loves to study and meditate on scripture, a task mostly carried out by men in those days.

The novel is narrated in such a way that portrays how life used to be in Jesus's time.



Summary: I highly recommend this novel if you in search of excellent biblical fiction which is an easy and enjoyable read.

In MARY AND MARTHA, H B MOORE tells the story of Lazarus and his two sisters and their relationship with Jesus. It is a well written book in which we see Jesus, not only as Healer and Deliverer, but also as Friend.
The story follows the biblical account with Jesus speaking words of Scripture, and with the added characters and back story giving a feeling of what normal life was like in those days.
I recommend Mary And Martha to anyone who enjoys biblical fiction.

The story of Mary and Martham has always been, one of my favorite parts of the Bible for me. H.B. Moore tells the tender story of two sisters, Mary and Martha and the love they both have for their brother Lazarus and his family. What a great rendition of Mary and Martha.
Martha likes to serve others and Mary secretly loves to study, the scrolls of scripture. The tender moments of Jesus' miracles, healing, feeding the 5000, raising Lazarus from the dead. What might it have been like to live, during those last days of Jesus' life.
