This was a difficult book for me to get through. To begin with the premise was very thorough and it was interesting and at that point I was very hooked and excited for the story but as I continued to get through with it I found that I was began to disconnect from the story on a regular basis and this was mainly due to the pacing of the book and also the multitude of flashbacks which didn't seem to flow smoothly with the narrative. Similarly, you're also reading multiple POV's of certain events and then end up reading the same scenario over and over again which didn't work for me.

I also was not keen on the love interests within the book - especially considering one of them is incesteous. This was very difficult for me to get behind and to read.

Despite this the book and the overall story holds a lot of promise as the plotline is very interesting - that being a queen who has been reincarnated hundreds of years later and is discovering what happened to her country following her death. Other than that, it wasn't a book for me.

Sadly, this was not a interesting nor funny one. So i will not be continuing the series from here. But oh well, you win some you loose some.

I was interested in this book because it was set in Korea. However, I could not understand the storyline. The story was also very bland. Still, it had great potential but it was not well-executed.

This was another quick fun read for me. A basic plot that follows teenage books, but was interesting to see how everything came together.

I enjoyed this book! I felt the start was a slow one, I wasn't really hooked until I had a good chunk read already. However, by the end, I was so into it and was not ready for the story to be over! The characters were well developed; I loved Reuyen and her story, especially how the past and the present were intertwined! Great storytelling.

I really don’t even know what to say for this book. The concept was interesting, and I was very hopeful for this book. But this feels like a lot of potential lost. I couldn’t stay engaged in this story. Something just wasn’t there and it was lacking majorly. I wanted to like it, but I couldn’t. I can’t even figure out just quite what is missing, but it was enough to lost my interest. The story was basic, but the plot and the story telling were below average. I don’t know. This is far from something I’d recommend to someone else.

I am sad to be DNFing this one. The concept – a tyrannical queen is reborn as an ordinary girl and wild Epic Fantasy ensues – is a very solid one. I’m also a sucker for works set in Eastern Asian cultures, so a work translated from Korean was one I definitely wanted to try. Unfortunately, this one didn’t click with me. I guess I should have paid attention to the Teens & YA tag on Netgalley, as I think some of why I didn’t click with this book was the amount of bickering. Whatever it was, I didn’t build any narrative momentum with this, and have put it down. The concept is cool though, so maybe this will find an audience elsewhere among those more YA-focused.

I really wanted to love this book as I love the idea of reincarnated queens and multi lives love interests which gave a sort of game of thrones feel but It just didn’t work for me. With one of the love interest being with her brother.... featuring more than the husband. Originally based on the blurb I though this would be more romance oriented but it’s actually more focused on warfare.
I felt that the writing style was a bit awkward probably due to it being a translated work. It doesn’t flow as you well as it could do which made the multiple POVs awkward to read as it jumps around from one sentence to the next. Also the character names were just so hard to remember with some characters being called several different names.

Also we are given more than one POV for some events that happen in the story which was confusing sometimes as you basically read the same event twice which I didn’t feel was necessary and wasn’t executed very well. There is a twist in the ending and does make it feel like it could get very exciting in the next book but I unfortunately won’t be continuing on with this series.

I'm not sure what happened here. I had such great hopes with reading the synopsis and the book just fell flat and it didn't live up to the potential that I had in mind. I'm not really sure how to feel about this one

This book was way to confusing for me to even enjoy. The main character was so unlikable. The whole thing just fell flat.

The premise of this story grabbed me right away, but I couldn't get into the story properly. It was a mixture of things, like the flow and pacing of the story, and the language used.. it just didn't fit for me at all.

I may give it another chance at some point to see if it sits better with me at a different season, but for right now, it just didn't meet expectations.

Thank you to Netgalley and Poppypub for sending me the E-Arc for Fallen Queen.

Bit of a disappointment this one. The synopsis was very interesting and I had high hopes going in. However it seemed such a slog just to get through the beginning! There was so much history that was kind of just dumped on us. And I wasn't much of a fan of the narrative voice of the book. It seemed more like it was telling us the story rather than us being actually immersed into it.

It could be that I just picked this book up at the wrong time or it just wasn't the book for me. I think I might give it another chance some other time just in case. I didn't finish it, the flow wasn't right for me. But its on the pile for another go perhaps sometime in the future.

I'm...majorly conflicted about my feelings for Fallen Queen. While I loved the middle bulk of the story, I was not at all interested in the beginning or ending and was left confused instead of wanting more. The narrative flashing back and forth from present to past made things really murky, especially at the end.

Fallen Queen follows the story of Reuyen Detua, who is the reincarnation of Queen Swan Sekalrid Rarkalia. Queen Swan was a bloodthirsty queen that ended up being betrayed and beheaded by her husband over two hundred years ago. As we go through the story, Reuyen starts to remember her past memories and see her past start appearing in her present.

There is so much potential in this story - I hope that book two meets that potential!

Thank you for Poppypub and Netgalley for giving me the ARC in exchange for my thoughts.

The synopsis seemed so good and I was excited going in , but it didn’t last long unfortunately, I didn’t feel the characters were very well developed , the story, plot and pacing all felt disconnected and not very cohesive, it made it difficult to remain interested, sadly not for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and Poppypub for sending me the E-Arc for Fallen Queen. The story follows the daughter of a horse dealer, Reuyen Detua, who is the reincarnation of Queen Swan Sekalrid Rarkalia. Who was beheaded by her husband 200 years ago for being a tyrant obsessed with war. And neglecting her kingdom for years. Now Rueyen finds herself once again joining in battle.
Reading this was a bit difficult at times it drew me in and I was excited to see what was next for the character but than I would get lost and confused with what was happening in certain situations. Some of the characters I felt weren't needed or I felt didn't really develop character within the story. I am excited for the next book though to see what is next for Reuyen and the rest of the characters.

This book has a lot of potential, and possibly in future books it will reach that, but this one fell short for me. I loved the premise, and it had a fantastic introduction that drew me in at the start, but then the flow of the storyline unfortunately lost me. Despite the promising premise, it felt as though there wasn't a major overarching narrative to draw the book together, and there was a disconnect driven by this and flashbacks, with the present often being unexplained which gave me the feeling of me adrift. The characters could have used some more development as well, although I accept that this is only the first book and therefore there is time for that growth, but again it felt as though there was a disconnect between them and the plot for the most part. That said, I did enjoy Reuyen as a character and would like to see more from her. Overall, it had promise, but it needs to do more to convince me of its narrative.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The synopsis of The Fallen Queen truly intrigued me. I wanted to enjoy this book, much more than I actually did. The premise alone had the potential to be an amazing read, but some parts just fell short.

Character seemed to be underdevleoped and even the beginning of the book where it gives kind of insight seemed to not be developed into its entirety. There are mentions of Queen Swan being a great strategiest, but the writing doesn't elaborate on what strategies are actually used.

There is a disconnect between the characters interactions and the narraration itself. At times the writing style seemed disjointed and didn't flow as well as it could.

Even though I have listed a lot of negative aspects, I stand by that the idea of reincarnation and having a second chance to right the wrongs of a past life is amazing.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for approving me for this arc.

Thank you to Netgalley and  POPPYPUB for giving me an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This story is about Queen Swan, a war genius whose obsession with winning and her country makes her ending up being killed by her husband to protect Rarka from her hands.l. Two-hundred years later, the queen reincarnates in a girl, Reuyen, from a small town, daughter of a horse dealer and, being aware of her mistakes, decides to take a life far away from war. Unfortunately, her desires are threatened when her older brother dies in the war and she ends up having to use her old memories and abilities fo fight again.

I just want to start saying that I read this book in one day. It has been amazing, I loved it from the beginning until the end. The book is built with tension and information new information and adventures appearing all the time, the fact that kind of went back and forward from her different lives was something I appreciate and once I started, I could not stop reading.

The first chapters showed me how this book will go and I am sure that there is a lot more to come, that I would love to read.

Reuyen was a female character that I found to be well constructed, her whole persona was completely on point in every single page, I can not say it anything bad about her apart from my wish to know more about her past and her mind.

I have to say I liked the other characters too, although I found quite annoying the fact of them being all men (I think this will change in book two, or at least, I hope about it). I was wondering if there was going to be a love storyline somewhere... but I can wait because I felt like there was no need to have one because of the way the book is structured.

If I have to say something bad it would be the ending... IT CAN'T END LIKE THIS, I need to know more!!! OMG, I feel like I can't wait to read the second part of this saga.

Honestly, I was really excited when reading the synopsis. I thought it was an interesting read, but I couldn't really like the characters. So far, I find it really difficult to relate to them. The FML does shit without explaining herself and expects people to understand her and the ML is like what are you doing?! I am not sure if I will read the next one because I wasn't a fan of the characters.
