There's No Pill for This was a very interesting and informative book. My teenage son has recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Reading about Dr. Friedman's experience and treatment plans, has given me many things to ask our neurologist at our next appointment.
I had expected this book to be on the boring side. The sort of book that you read a chapter or two before bed. However it was actually quite enjoyable and I found myself waiting to pick it up to read whenever I had a few free minutes.

One important thing to know about Dr. Friedman is that he is not just writing about MS, as many researchers and doctors do, he is recounting his personal experiences with MS, as he was diagnosed several years ago with the disease. Dr. Friedman provides a solid, comprehensive overview of MS, how he coped with it, what he tried, what worked and what did not work. He covers the whole gamut, from diet to physical therapy to lifestyle and such, which can provide anyone who suffers from MS useful, pertinent, and current information on the subject. In addition, he lets the reader know where things are going with MS. I personally do not suffer from MS, but a family member does, and I wanted to know more about MS, and what could be done to help, as well as where things were going. Based on what I read, as the doctor said, much of the information and help is already there, you just have to look for it. I liked the personal touch he showed throughout the book, as he related his experiences and work. I think anyone with MS or knows someone with MS can learn from this book, either to help themselves or others with whom we come into contact as well as to learn what generally works and does not always work, and where the future is going. This is not a disease I previously knew much about or looked at too closely, but with family members afflicted, I have become interested. This book provided me a wealth of information about MS, touching just about every aspect I could imagine needing information on. I am sure this will easily become the go-to book for those afflicted or living with someone who is. I know it will be for me. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.
