First, I want to thank NetGalley & Random House Publishing for allowing me to read & review this ARC.

Being a HUGE hockey fan, I was excited for this one. So right off the bat, it was getting a good rating from me. And then came Josh. SWOON. I loved the banter between Sara & Josh and their relationship. I also love how this book touched on the topic of mental health and how it effects everyone differently and how trauma stays with you over time.

Definitely grab the tissues for this one! Overall, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

I thought that this was a standalone but apparently it was the second book in a series! I've never read a book with a vlogger as the main character but I do love sports romance. This book was a cute romance but with some depth, a cheery character with clinical depression, and a leading male who is very cautious, selfless and selfish at the same time since a near death experience. There are some trigger warnings going into this book fatal car accident, pediatric cancer, clinical depression, online bullying.

Opposites attract big time in Kelly Jamieson’s You Had Me at Hockey and I loved this fun, quirky, and sexy story.

Josh Heller (and yes, if you’ve read some of Ms. Jamieson’s other work Josh is part of that famous Hockey family) finds he’s been traded to the New York Bears and he feels like his world has been turned upside down again. Surviving a bus crash that killed several of his teammates and coaches, not knowing if he’d ever recover enough to play again, and having his two best friends pretty much ditch him after they walked away from the crash Josh had a lot of resentment and anger from that time in his life even though he remembers very little of the immediate aftermath. The accident left him fearful and with a need to always have a plan and follow a schedule, being traded wasn’t in his plan, and neither was meeting a vlogger/influencer who turns his neat and tidy little world upside down.

Sara Carrington knows she’s lucky to make a living doing something she truly enjoys even if it was a fluke that got her to where she is today. She’s not a typical vlogger/influencer because Sara believes in being herself even when it isn’t pretty. Body positivity, being yourself, and being truthful about her life is key to Sara’s brand and she plans on keeping it that way despite her publicist’s recommendation that she become more polished, but she does agree to do a podcast with the newest hockey player in town which changes her life in more ways that she can imagine.

While it took me a little while to warm up to Josh, I could totally understand his hesitancy and his need for control in his life. When he meets Sara, we immediately see a different Josh and the chemistry between them oozes off the page. Their crazy banter, the jokes, and laughter drew me in and I was mesmerized by them. I liked that they kind of fell into a relationship, neither one was really looking for anything but it happened out of the blue and in the best of ways.

My one complaint is that while we learned quite a bit about Josh’s background, what made him into the person he is today we really didn’t get that with Sara. Both these characters came with some baggage but despite that, the angst level was low (thank goodness) and their communication skills with each other were good which I always appreciate.

You Had Me at Hockey is a feel good, sexy romance that I couldn’t put down. I loved this couple!

reat story with fabulous characters.

I’ve been looking forward to reading You Had me At Hockey by Kelly Jamieson after having devoured the first book, Must Love Dogs… And Hockey. We heard a little bit about Josh during Easton’s story, enough to more than pique my interest.
Josh and Easton had once been classmates and friends, but an accident when they were teenagers split them apart. They have avoided each other ever since.
Now, Easton is joining Josh’s hockey team. Can they ever become friends again?
Maybe with Sara’s help Josh can learn to let go of his rigid way of life. Sara is spontaneous where Josh plans everything down to the last second. He needs to know exactly what’s going on around him.
Even though they were complete opposites, Josh and Sara messed at an elemental level. Their chemistry was scorching hot and the banter made me smile a lot. Josh is a tough cookie but sexy with it.
Sara has a very interesting job as a vlogger, one she enjoys tremendously. She’s not afraid of life and what it will bring, despite having a past of her own.
These two were definitely made for each other and their story is one for the holidays.

I became a fan of Kelly Jamieson through the Wynn series and her books are consistently good, with likable characters that are easy to root for. You Had Me at Hockey lives up to the expectation that I have now when I pick up her books. Sarah and Josh are great characters and even though this book used a common trope (the virginity one) that can sometimes feel tired and just too much, Jamieson did it in a way that Sarah didn't appear like a cartoonish wide eyed good girl, but a real person with realistic circumstances.

This was an adorable and fast read. It was just what I needed after a heavy with buffing fantasy series to help prevent a book slump!

I love the author's writing. I love this story. Two people who have overcome personal challenges and are not at a place in their lives where they are looking for love, find it anyway. Lots of fun banter and a new group of hockey players to get to know. This is the kind of romance that we all wish for ourselves, for our children and everyone else that we care about.

Professional hockey player, Josh Holler, was in a serious accident while in his teens. The team bus flipped over, injuring many, killing a few and some miraculously walked away unscathed. Josh was one of those severally injured and feared he would never play hockey again, but did recover, leaving him with some coping mechanisms like ALWAY planning in advance. He does not like surprises. He definitely did not like suddenly being told that he was traded to the NY Bears and had to immediately leave Dallas for NYC.

Once he is in NY, one of his duties is to start meeting the people of NYC and he is told he has been booked to do a Podcast with Sara Carrington, a popular YouTuber. Sara is quirky, often unfiltered and has fought depression since she was a teen. She started making YouTube videos with the help of her BBF while a teen to help with the depression and it grew into a full time career. The two have great chemistry from the start on the air and then off.

I read an ARC from supplied by NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Sara and Josh were not exactly a match made in heaven but I loved how the quirkiness of Sara was in such contrast to Josh's control.

Kelly Jamieson’s books have been hit - but mostly miss - for me, so I wasn’t sure which way You Had Me at Hockey would go. Turns out, this opposites attract love story was thoroughly charming!

Pro hockey star Josh Heller is perfectly content playing for his current team in Dallas. But when he gets traded in the middle of an away series of games, it upends his world - which he likes to keep neat, organized, and completely planned out. Even worse, he’s being traded to the team of a former friend. When Josh arrives in New York City, he learns the team has scheduled an interview with a popular NYC social media star. He’s not happy about it...at all. So he’s very surprised when he actually has a good time taping the podcast.

Sara Carrington is not your usual influencer. Her schtick is “what you see is what you get...zits and all” instead of showing everyone a polished, perfect view of her life. Make some cupcakes that look like a disaster? Who cares, they still taste great! She does her best to make the most out of every situation, even if it’s interviewing the town’s new hockey star.

Josh has a hard time hanging on for the wild rides Sara drags him on. Sara is up for anything. On paper, these two don’t make sense, yet they have such a good time together. But it turns out, she needs him in her life just as much as he needs her.

The hero and heroine in this story were fantastic, and together they were adorable and fun. I loved Josh right from the start. So often pro athletes are portrayed as cocky and full of themselves, so to get one who is cautious and uncertain was a refreshing breath of fresh air! And Sara, with her upbeat, sunny personality was so fun. Their relationship was fun, funny, and delightful to watch.

There wasn’t much I didn’t like about this story. Both characters had compelling backstories that affected their relationships, but they also handled things with a maturity that’s seldom seen in YA romances. You think you’re going to get a fun, lighthearted story - and you do. But you also get a touching story of two young people doing their best to stumble through life as best they can and find a partner to be on their side while doing it. This story was heartfelt and heartwarming and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Before this book, I was on the fence whether or not I’d keep reading this author. After You Had Me At Hockey, the answer now is a resounding yes!

This story affected me in so many ways. It was emotional and stirring. I felt for these characters and loved being on their journey. The heroine was so different and I loved that about her. It was heart-warming and made me smile. It was beautiful and I loved the writing. I am fairly new to Kelly Jamieson, but I will definitely be looking for more from her.

DNF. I was bored by the narrative and I disliked the first person POV. It felt very stilted, and I couldn't connect with the characters. It almost felt stream-of-conscious -esque, Not my cup of tea.

This story was fun, sexy and entertaining. Kelly Jamieson did a fantastic job in bringing these two different personalities together in a believable and realistic manner.

As expected, Sara and Josh's chemistry jumped off the page, but it was the connection that developed between them that ultimately convinced me on this story. It was great to see how they complemented each other, not just physically but on a more deeper level. Besides the romance, I enjoyed the secondary characters and the additional elements brought to the story. They all added to the character's growth and overall development. I appreciated the humor sprinkled throughout, along with the more series aspects that were thrown into the mix.

Although this is the second book in the series, I don't think you need to read the first book to truly enjoy this one. The author added more than enough backstory for the reader to follow it and understand the past events that lead to some of the more poignant points of this story.

All in all, a fantastic, fun and sexy read.

This is the second book of the series but could be read as a stand alone. However, I loved the tie in to the first book and Easton's past crossing with Josh's.

Again, like the first book, the meet cute was wonderful! Sara is a blogger, you tuber and podcast deliverer. She knows next to nothing about hockey but agrees to interview the Bear's newest player. The sparks fly and the story launches from there.

Loved both their back stories. It causes some of the angst in the relationship but they sort each other out pretty quick. Loved that Easton and Josh could mend fences.. We see a little bit of hockey action and get to watch everything through a very new to the sport Sara's eyes.

Great addition tot the series! Loved it!

You Had Me at Hockey is the second book in the Bears Hockey series by Kelly Jamieson. The main characters are Josh and Sara. Josh is the newest transfer to the Bears and Sara is a successful youtuber. Sara's career was more interesting than Josh's, to be honest. I wish we have a little more focus on that because what she did seemed so fun! Sara is asked to do a podcast where she will be talking with Josh and from that moment forward they hit it off.

Each book in the series is a stand-alone and I think this is the first time in a series that it bothered me. If you haven't read Must Love Dogs...and Hockey you will not have a single problem, but personally since I have read the other book, I was expecting something more from this one. You see, in Must Love Dogs...and Hockey Easton mentions Josh to Lily because they used to be friends before the crash and he had some unfinished business with him, so I was expecting that part of their mutual past to come up sooner than it did. I also was expecting it to be more developed. Another thing that I expected to have more impact in this book was Easton standing up for himself and making sure that everyone knew how abusive their ex-coach was. I assumed it would have had a big impact on the team, but it was barely mentioned.

What I like about the series so far is that the characters are human and they are not perfect all the time and they have a kind of unique charm that wins me over. Josh needs a light slap on the head because he didn't always treat Sara right (nothing abusive though). They are opposites in many ways, but they worked well together.

Overall, the book was good but not as good as Must Love Dogs...and Hockey, hence the 4 stars. It had some good parts and others that didn't work for me.

I really loved Sara and Josh. They had this great banter.it was witty and real. They both were a surprise to each other and to the reader as well.

Josh is a broody yet handsome hockey player who has been traded from Dallas to NYC. He wasn’t expecting it and he definitely wasn’t expecting to now be on the team of his ex best friend. He meets Sara during a PRStop and instantly has a connection with her, which baffles him. She throws him off guard and she becomes the distraction that he needs just doesn’t quite know what to make of it.

Sara is a celebrity in her own right, as a social media influencer. She has her own issues dealing with mental health issues and how the public perceives her. She likes hanging with Josh, showing him the city she loves and pushing his buttons too.

I really enjoyed these two and can’t wait for more in the series

Kelly Jamieson delivers a delectable sports romance that reads like a rom-com ready to hit the big screen.

Sara Carrington has turned her bright honesty and penchant for trying out new things and videoing them into a career which has expanded to podcasts that include interviewing brooding hot hockey players. After successfully getting him to laugh, but can she get to really know the man behind the gorgeous smile?

NHL player Josh Heller likes order, control, routine. He likes to plan for his everyday life and hates surprises. Being traded to NYC and having to leave at a moment’s notice is not easy to deal with nor is the fact that he’s accepting to go out for coffee with the fly by the seat of her pants influencer who interviewed him as part of the job.

As he gets to know the impulsive and charismatic Sara, he finds he likes her chaos and soon the two are teaching each other all sorts of fun and sexy new things. But being such opposites, can they truly work out?

Jamieson writes a compelling story where the fun and romance are well balanced along with a deep sense of connection. Josh and Sara have instant chemistry that leaps off the pages. The banter between them is great, but what I liked most is the organic why in which their relationship developed. It felt real, and while they were complete opposites and both had some baggage to deal with, they helped each other and had good communication skills which set the drama meter at low.

I loved the New York setting and the return of Easton and Lilly. I can’t wait to read more from this series.

You Had Me at Hockey is a standalone romance by Kelly Jamieson. Told from both points of view, with a happy ending. Subgenres: Hockey-Sports Romance | Rom-Com | opposites attract

I had read the first book in this series and absolutely adored it so when this came out I couldnt wait to read it. It was a very interesting story. Prob not my favorite but definitely interesting and very different than I have read before in a hocket/sports romance.

Josh has been traded and his new team requests him be interviewed by youtuber, Sara for her site. And so their romance starts. Josh is a planner and he hates surprises or sponaneity. Sara loves to do unplanned things. She is always down for an adventure and having fun.

At first glance these two really like each other but don't have much in common but they both are very quirky and they really get each other. For me they were too quirky but what I adored was that there is someone for everyone message the author shared in this book.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from NETGALLERY prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love Sara and Josh story, they complemented each other. Josh and Easton interaction was childish but when they talk and open their heart's they clean the souls and wound the hearts.

I enjoy reading this book and recommended it.

Always a planner Josh and free wheeling Sara - an imperfect match that is just perfect!

These two are very unlikely friends much less lovers. Josh has recently been traded which he is clearly not happy about. Sara is a free spirit who interviews Josh for her podcast and they instantly hit it off.

BUT it doesn't seem like these two will jive together yet somehow they do. Sara helps break Josh out of his straight-laced, must have a plan life, and Sara gets the validation she needs to follow her dreams.

These two were so sweet, the chemistry was sizzling, and it was an all around fun read! This is a very entertaining series and this one ties into Book 1 well.

I voluntarily requested and read an uncorrected advance reader copy.
