This is my first novel by Jamieson and it won't be my last! I've already started adding her backlist to my TBR and I'm so excited to read them... You Had Me At Hockey was wonderful! It had me hooked from the first chapter. I couldn't put it down to the point I started and finished it on the same day. The characters - both Josh and Sara - were so relatable and likeable and the chemistry between them was smoking hot and effortless! I adored them together and as individuals. They made me laugh, they tugged on my heartstrings, the sex scenes were fire and placed against the backdrop of hockey?! Yep, this book was a massive hit for me. The book was character-driven perfection especially because neither character was perfect but they both grew and evolved throughout the story.
I actually felt sad when it was over and really hope they crop up again in future books...

If you love a good sports romance with a couple you can believe in then do not miss out on this!

Another fantastic cover that needs all the props! This cover tells the story and it just blisses me out when that happens. *smile*

The thing I loved the most about this story is Sara and Josh just going for it, meaning when the spark happened, they didn’t fight it, they embraced it. Opposites in character but attraction won out and it’s what made this read for me not only sexy and entertaining, but also emotional and heartwarming and just an all around *happy sigh* You will absolutely love reading Sara’s chaos and Josh’s order journeying down the path to HEA! Even the conflict of the story, as dramatic as it was, was perfection for this story. Every plot point was on-point.

*sigh* if you’re not reading Kelly Jamieson, you are missing out on serious talent. I’ve been reading her work for quite a while now and she is always at the top of my list when I need a sports romance fix, so go forth and #oneclick, it’ll be worth it 🙂

"This woman is kind of nuts. But kind of cute. And hot. And...funny. She had me in stitches. I haven't laughed like that in years."

Josh's life revolves around hockey. His social interactions are few and very planned. He does not enjoy spontaneity.

Sara's life revolves around spontaneity. She's a lifestyle blogger and has reached great success. She is unapologetically herself.

When these two get together, they shouldn't mesh. They are opposites in so many ways, but they enjoy their differences so much!

This is a wonderful book about a very different relationship dynamic. I really liked it. It's a first read for me by this author and I look forward to reading more from her. I love her writing style

A very good book and the characters were a little different this time at least for me. Sara is a Vlogger which I knew nothing about and she had her own storyline which kept this book moving along at a good pace. Her take on different things was unique and I liked that Josh was supportive of her and gave her the strength to stay true to her course and not follow her agent.
Josh was still dealing with the bus accident when he was younger and one of his friends is on the team that he has gotten traded to. He still has not dealt with all of his feelings from that time even though he thinks he has. This has caused a problem at times on the ice and in the locker room. Realizing this has also given him an out in forming relationships and here is when he and Sara run into problems, he says things to her which are mean and hurtful when she was trying to help.
Will he get himself out of the pentyl box of life or stuck with life misconduct and not able to return. See if he can get his stick out of his a-s and have a life. A good story with very good characters.

I found this book to be a warm and wonderful hockey read. There are a glutton of sports romances out there but Ms Jamieson always stand out as wheat from the chaff and this book is a great example.

This is an honest review for an arc received.

Sara Carrington is a YouTube influencer who lives the spontaneity of life. While she is perfectly content living her life single, she hasn’t ruled out the chance of meeting Mr. Right.

Josh Heller likes to plan out every aspect of his life. After surviving a devastating childhood trauma, he lives life very conservatively. When his planned out life is suddenly disrupted by being traded he’s at a loss for what to do. When he meets Sara for an interview on her podcast, he’s instantly attracted to her. The more time they spend together the more he sees that some of the best things in life aren’t planned.

The book was an great read and I give it a 4 1/2 star rating. I love how Ms. Jamieson developed each character and I like how she allowed them to push each other’s comfort limits. This was a very good read and I hope to see more of Sara and Josh in future books.

2.5/5
I really wanted to like this one. The premise sounded super fun, and like something I would definitely enjoy. Overall this book didn't work for me because of the writing style. I felt that the characters were telling me rather than showing, which felt more like a summary than a novel.

Oh, how I love Kelly Jamieson and her amazing writing talent. With each book I read I meet fun characters who earn a place in my heart while reading their stories. This is the story of Sara, the hockey fan and vlogger, and Josh, the hockey player who just got traded to a team in Sara’s town. I loved their first meeting, their first podcast, their first date, their first everything. I loved seeing how their relationship went from strangers to even more.

Sara loves to be spontaneous and Josh needs a schedule. The saying of opposites attract is so true in this case. I love seeing how they make each other better when they are together. They are able to push each other to be better people, to love each other, and to learn to respect each other. Both characters open their hearts and their souls to each other while still staying strong in their own ways.

You Had Me At Hockey is not a mushy book but there is fun romance, sweet loving, and open hearts. While it shows that it is part of a series, the hockey team is the common tie. The book can be read as a standalone.

Really good! Loved the characters and thought they were identifiable. I loved the whole set up. A longer review will come in the new year when I am back from my hiatus hopefully. But I did love this book a lot when I read it. Apologies for the late review, this year has been rough. Thank you Netgalley and publishers for the chance to read this book. I absolutely adore hockey romances.

4 1/2 STARS!

A delightful mix of comedy, romance and sports! With the second book in her Bears Hockey series Kelly Jamieson continues to deliver attention grabbing characters who steal a reader's heart quickly and take us for a ride of emotion and joy on that way towards happily ever after. I'm looking forward to more!

Josh is a character that makes you just want to give a great big old hug to. He's emotionally scarred from a childhood accident and sometimes finds it hard to deal with the world around him.

Sara is fresh, quirky and so fun. I loved her from the first moment she stepped onto the page.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who loves a hockey romance with a combination of sexy and emotion throughout.

YOU HAD ME AT HOCKEY is the second instalment in Kelly Jamieson’s contemporary, adult BEARS HOCKEY erotic, romance series focusing on the New York Bears of professional hockey. This is defenseman Josh Heller, and podcaster/youtuber Sara Carrington’s story line. YOU HAD ME AT HOCKEY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Josh and Sara) YOU HAD ME AT HOCKEY follows the building romance and relationship between defenseman Josh Heller, and podcaster/YouTuber Sara Carrington. Josh Heller was surprised when he discovered that he had been traded from Dallas to the New York Bears, but with surprise came trepidation, not only about a new city and a new team, but a former friend who he has struggled to forgive and forget. An interview with media personality Sara Carrington finds Josh slowly easing into life in the Big Apple but Josh never expected to fall for the spunky podcaster. As life with Bears began to take shape, Josh struggled with a former friendship that died years before. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Josh and Sara, and the potential fall-out as misunderstanding, miscommunication, ego and frustration push Sara out of Josh’s life.

The relationship between Josh and Sara begins as an assignment as Sara is scheduled to interview the Bear’s newest team player. Josh battles between head and heart as the newest arrival to the New York Bears but keeps secrets his trepidation as it concerns a former friendship, and the fall-out from an accident years before. Sara Carrington is a bit of a free spirit, who speaks the truth, and refuses to change in an effort to fit in. Meeting Josh Heller gives Sara the ‘warm and fuzzies’ but Sara has a secrets that is about to be exposed. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters as well as the return of hockey player Easton Millar, and former hotel hospitality manager Lilly Evans (Must Love Dogs and Hockey #1), as well as team members Jamal Jordan aka Jammer, Jay aka JBo, Owen Cooke aka Cookie, Russ aka Evan, Igor Barbashev aka Barbie, Wendell aka Wendy, and Colton aka Gunner. We are introduced to model Layla Young, and Sara’s friends Kaylee, Brandon and Nate.

YOU HAD ME AT HOCKEY is a story of friendships, relationships, acceptance and love. A story of misunderstanding and hurt, heart break and pain, love and happily ever after. Once again, Kelly Jamieson pulls from real world events in both the junior and professional hockey leagues including racism and the tragedy of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash of 2018. The premise is engaging and emotional; the romance is seductive and energetic; the characters are energetic, flirty and fun.

I was so excited to see a new hockey series from Kelly Jamieson. I'll be honest and say I was never a hockey fan. But, I started reading the Wynn hockey series and loved them so I read all of the others- Aces, Heller Brothers, Bayard, and wanted more!
In the second book of the Bears series, we meet Josh and Sara. Josh is the one time friend of Easton who was featured in book one. Unfortunately they both suffered a tragedy while on a youth hockey trip and have not communicated since. Josh blames Easton for abandoning him and going on to the NHL while he, Josh, was recuperating from devastating injuries. He has carried that resentment for years and getting traded to Easton's team really brings out the negative feelings.
Sara is a local podcaster and vlogger who is fairly quirky. When they first meet both are surprised that they get along pretty well and start dating. Josh is pretty rigid because of his past and Sara has a lot of insecurities- what could possibly go wrong!
I loved the way Ms. Jamieson focused on the differences between the two but showed how they actually were perfect for each other. The romantic relationship had some significant roadblocks on both sides but just kept getting stronger- at least on the surface. Problems that are not dealt with are problems that will resurface, usually at the worst possible time. However, this is a romance and so the HEA is coming and it's a good one!
Now, I'm ready to read about the elusive Hunter!

This was a good read. It was fun reading how these two main characters start their relationship and all the turmoil that goes along with keeping a relationship. There was real talk about serious situations that bought more depth to this read. Again I really enjoyed it.

Meeting Sara and being introduced to her spontaneous attitude was a great thing for Josh who tried to do everything on a schedule. The two helped each other grow by sharing their strengths with one another. Sure were times when they didn't see eye to eye but that is what a relationship is all about. Learning from one another is what makes you stronger together.

I would definitely check out other books from this author, especially another one in this series just to get a grip on their writing style and the stories she has to share. Hockey is an interesting sport and I only know the basics but like in every thing it takes strength and dedication.

I really did like the situations talked throughout the book and I completely had emotions running through me but I felt like there could have been just a little bit more exploration in the subjects of depression, death and learning to cope with them. Sometimes I felt like it lightly touched the surface, definitely got you thinking about it. But I wanted more in depth, to feel even close to each character. Regardless I still think this was a great read.

*I received an arc from Netgalley & publisher for an honest review.* This is book 2 in the Bears Hockey series & it was so good!! It has all the feels, it’s funny (Josh’s poems to Sara & the poetry readings, so funny!!), entertaining, heartbreaking, emotional with wonderful characters. I really loved the main characters Josh & Sara, in fact they are one of my all time favorite book couples. They had such chemistry from the beginning & really brought out the best in each other. Sara was honest about herself & he accepted & supported her. She’s supportive of Josh as well with his adjustment to his trade to New York, introducing him to NYC & her friends while showing him to be more spontaneous. She also helped him resolve his issues with Easton (both survivors of a fatal bus accident when teenagers). Sara would be an awesome friend to have!! I can’t say enough about this author, book & series. Thanks for the arc Netgalley!!

I'm a sucker for hockey romance and this one didn't disappoint. Josh and Sara were personality opposites with irresistible chemistry. I loved their internal monologues and the humor of the situations they got into. Ms. Jamieson did a great job of integrating the issues of anxiety and depression into the story in a way that was very real and relatable. Great read! I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

I absolutely love Kelly Jamison’s hockey romances and this was no different.
Josh gets traded to a new team and has to adjust to life in a new city. Sara is a quirky vlogger. The two of them are complete opposites, however, when Sara interviews Josh there is some great banter and undeniable chemistry between them.
I really loved Josh. I loved that he wasn’t a playboy. I loved that he liked to stay organized and follow a schedule. He was super relatable. Sara was enjoyable as a character, too. Compared to Josh’s organization she was more of free spirit. There were so many sweet and funny moments between the two of them throughout the story.
If you’re looking for an opposites attract hockey romance this is one to check out.

While You Had Me at Hockey starts out slow, it develops into a wonderful, sweet, sexy, emotional, and humorous love story about two flawed and wounded people who meet and find themselves drawn to each other and unexpectedly finding love when they least want or expect it.

After surviving a near-death accident as a teen, risk averse, pro hockey player Josh is all about routine, living a boring and quiet life with no surprises. He likes to think he is a warrior. So, when he is traded from Dallas to New York he is less than thrilled. A down-to-earth, free-spirited, adventurous, and offbeat YouTube podcaster, Sara has always been a bit weird and viewed as a social outcast. Her personality and forthrightness are a bit much for most people and has made dating difficult for her, which is why she’s still a virgin. She’s been able to use her weirdness to her advantage by filming her personal experiences and interests—learning TikTok dances, fashion, food, etc.—and incorporating them into a successful podcast.

Josh and Sara meet when Josh is a guest on her podcast. Neither is excited at the prospect initially. But they connect almost instantly, and the podcast turns out to be fun for both. He’s not quite what she expects, he’s much hotter, and she finds herself fascinated with discovering why he’s so uptight. Sara is unfiltered, funny, and full of life, and Josh is drawn to her despite the uncertainty and turmoil she brings into his life. She hopes to continue to make him laugh and maybe get him to have some fun and loosen up. He can teach her some things that she’s been longing, and needing, to learn as well.

Jameison tackles serious social issues head on with sensitivity, thoughtfulness, and aplomb while developing the characters’ backstories, inner lives, and furthering their growth. The result is excellently developed characters who are relatable and character interactions that are authentic, poignant, and lively. The chemistry between Josh and Sara is instant and visceral, leading to passionate love scenes that also contribute to the development of the characters and the story. My favorite thing about the novel is the amount of time that Josh and Sara spend talking to each other about all kinds of things—very personal things, and just whatever—and being intimate outside of sex. It is believable that they are developing more than just a sexual relationship because of the way that they turn to each other for emotional comfort and talk to each other about life stuff when they needed someone.

It’s obvious that Jameison knows her hockey. I loved the details and specifics about hockey that Josh shares with Sara and how interested she becomes in hockey as the story progresses. I also liked that there was significant game play as well, but it was well balanced with the romance. A genuine love of hockey is apparent throughout the novel, which is appropriate and kind of necessary for a book titled “You Had Me at Hockey.” Readers who are also hockey fans will not be disappointed.

You Had Me at Hockey is a can’t miss sweet, sexy, humorous, angsty, entertaining sports romance about taking the chance to open your heart and your life to love even when you don’t exactly feel quite ready for it and it doesn’t come in the package or ways you expect it to.

This is book 2 in the Bears Hockey series and it features Josh and Sara. While I loved their story, it took me a minute to really feel the attraction of these two in a relationship. Josh is a little stuffy and likes everything planned. He’s very structured. Sarah is very spontaneous and loves to have fun.  Their extremely different personalities made for an interesting and fiery HOT  relationship. The one thing I ABSOLUTELY LOVED in this book was Josh’s “roses are red” poems. They were hilariously epic!

You Had Me at Hockey was a nice read. Sara and Josh are complete opposites. Sara is more chaos and spontaneity while Josh is more routine and each had their own share of sadness. Seeing how these two would play off each other was interesting. Sara and Josh were adorable together and they did balanced off each other nicely. While I did not love the story, it was good enough to keep me going. I really liked how the author put in the hockey scenes I could imagine them happening. Also I wished for more in the epilogue. I felt like their story just stopped and it didn't give a sense of closure for me. Overall this was a cute quick read.
