I'm not sure why, but books in translation from northern Europe, are all rather alike, not bad, just the stories seem so narrative, lacking descriptives. Does that sound right? I enjoy the stories, but have seldom found children who enjoyed them. I'm not sure why, but it's sort of the Winnie-the Pooh (original) issue I've seen over 50 years. Littles, who one would think the books are written for, hate it, and yet, once the same children hit 15-16 years old- love it! Well, I enjoy Rose Lagercranz's books, and others like it. So sweet! Just have to find the right audience and I think it's us older folks! This story has lots going on, lots of characters, lots of events, it's a pretty long book for the age group I think it';s aiming for (5-7?) And, judging by the little girls on the cover, probably would appeal to older kids. Well, it's not written originally for an American audience anyway. I often wonder what our books in translation read like in foreign languages....I really need to grab some French, Spanish and German translations of American English books to find out!

I received an advance copy of, All's Happy That Ends Happy, by Rose Lagercrantz. I thought this book had to much going on, nobody know where Dani is, then Ella is hiding, and Miranda is missing. Just to much going on.
