Rose McCarthy is the editor in chief of a fashion magazine. Her three daughters are as different as night and day. While two of her daughters live in the US, Nadia lives in France. She did a year abroad studying in Paris and stayed. She is married to a writer of novels and screenplays. Her husband is very French, including the French way of multiple affairs. But he’s really done it this time! Had an affair with a young starlit who is now pregnant. Worse yet, they are flaunting their affair in public! Yes, he loves Nadia and doesn’t want a divorce. Can she forgive him? Ever trust him again? Or does she go the way of many Americans and divorce him?
I have read almost every one of Danielle Steel’s novels and this one did not disappoint. The contrast of values between Nadia, her sisters, her mother and the 2 countries reinforces that one should live life based on their personal values, not the judgement of others.

Nadia and Nicholas have been married for 15 years. He's an actor onset with a beautiful, young, upcoming actress. Soon, rumors start flying in tabloids about their affair. Not only is Nicholas cheating but he has gotten her pregnant as well.

On top of that, Nicholas expects Nadia to accept his new relationship ship and let him come back and forth between the two until he makes up his mind. Oooh Heck No!

Well that's my opinion anyways!

I always like to read a good DS book. I know a family is going to go through a stressful time but in the end everything works out great. This one, kind of bored me just because I hated Nicholas so much . I usually read a book in two days but it took me about four to read this one. I'm not saying it was bad. I've just never hated a character before. I've always seen people comment on how they couldn't stand a book character and I always wondered how that could be. It's fiction! Who cares right ?!?!?!?! But now I get it.

Thank you to Netgalley on letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A soul-searching revelation! Danielle Steel always makes us stop and think as we read about the emotions and situations of life that she weaves seamlessly into her characters and in THE AFFAIR, we're faced with more than one person's perspective when a torrid affair is revealed that tears a family apart at the seams and leaves emotions boiling over.

New York magazine maven Rose McCarthy is blindsided when the latest topic of gossip on a potential cover model brings to light the affair her son-in-law is dragging her youngest daughter through in Paris. She and her other three daughters quickly rally around to love and support Nadia through the whirlwind her life has become.

Nadia is hearing advice from every direction but all she can really feel right now is devastation as the man that she loves with all of her heart tells her he's torn between still loving her and his addiction to the young starlet currently carrying his child. She has two small children who adore their father and she doesn't know how to break their hearts ... or if she even should.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a drama filled read with lots of emotional upheavals and several supporting characters that lend volume to the overall story.

The Affair by Danielle Steel is a well written book about the dissolution of a marriage, well, maybe two. It was a time when four sisters came together with their mother in a way they never had before, despite being close. Their mother, Rose, was a widow, their father having died four years earlier. She was editor of a huge fashion magazine published in New York. It was her life. One day her team pitched a young actress who was having an affair with a French producer/writer. A fact, which she kept to herself, was that he was her son-in-law, the husband of her youngest daughter Nadia, who was an interior designer living in France. Nicolas had gone had gone public with the affair at Cannes, of all places, and apparently it was now common knowledge. She excused herself and went to her office, where she called one of her daughters, who was ignorant of the situation, and then called Nadia. So began months of misery for the entire family.

This is a lovely story of family, of the misery of breakups, and of the effect one mistake can have on everyone involved. The error rippled out until it affected everyone. Her sisters and mother all had opinions. They all told her what they thought. In the end it was her decision. Was it the embarrassment? Was it the love she still felt? Was itself-protection? This was a moving story of all of these things and more. Each of us has felt some of these emotions; some of us, many of them. To see it on the written page makes it so much more real. During a breakup, one feels like a crazy person. Would have; could have; should have. To love someone after she had been treated so? It was heart-breakingly explosive to read all of these emotions as well as all of these opinions. Typical Danielle Steel. That which makes her popular. Wonderful story. I recommend it.

I always request a Danielle Steel book when they are available in NetGalley because I have read almost all of them. This one was just ok. The whole book revolves around “The Affair”, hence the name of the book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Rose McCarthy, age 66, is an elegant woman and has been editor-in-chief for “Mode Magazine” for 25 years. She is the widow of successful banker Wallace McCarthy and mother to 4 grown daughters.

The magazine is working on its huge September issue, eagerly awaited by readers which details the upcoming winter styles. When discussing the cover for the issue, senior stylist, Charity, wants to feature Pascale Solon, a 22-year-old actress with Lolita looks. Rose is not in favor of her as she is having an affair with a well-known, married French author, Nicholas Bateau and it is rumored that Pascale is pregnant. Sadly, and unknown to her co-workers, Rose’s daughter, Nadia, is married to Nicholas. They live in Paris and have 2 young daughters.

Trying to deal with her pain, Nadia invites her sisters and mother to come for a July 4th visit to their chateau. As they haven’t been together in awhile, they agree and meet up to discuss the situation and advise Nadia.

This story is about the closeness of family and unconditional love they have for one another. I liked how the story included all of the sisters, their difference lifestyles, and their own problems they faced. While I’m not sure I would have been as forgiving as Nadia, at least she made her own decision that suited her and her family. Once again, well done, Danielle Steel.

The Affair by Danielle Steel is a and emotional and heartfelt story about family and choices. When Rose’s magazine does a story about the current “it” actress, secrets and lies come out that directly affect her family. Her daughter’s husband has had an affair and it is current news. Now Nadia is surrounded and supported by her sisters and her mother. Though I despised her cheating husband, I loved the story around the sisters and how they came to stand by her. As Nadia tries to decide what to do next, we also get to know her sisters and their stories as well. You never know what choices you are going to make until you find yourself in a situation you never expected.

Happy reading!

It is hard to write a review for a book when the story line goes in a direction you do not like. There was nothing wrong with the way it was written I just did not like (spoiler alert) that she forgave her husband AGAIN of infidelity. It was not the first time. He was just so spoiled thinking he could have an affair, get the women pregnant, basically take over the care of the child but wanted his wife to still wait for him. He expected her to be there while he was with the other women. Also the fact they waited so long to tell the children about what was going on when it was a very public affair just made me shake my head. Then the children found out about it from someone else. I just could not give this story more than three stars.

First off I would like to thank Netgalley for the Advanced reader copy this is my first to read and review. At first sentence I thought this story was about the mom having an affair or her husband having the affair. As I dove deeper into it I realized this story was about Rose (the mother) and her four daughters (Olivia, Nadia, Athena, and Venetia.) All completely different in what they want out of life and their relationships. With their own strengths and weaknesses. Nadia's husband ends up cheating on her with an actress which of course has lasting consquences. Personally I would be extremely hurt and upset, but Nadia takes everything thrown her way with great strength and poise. Her sisters and mom rally around her in support and comfort. I'm only giving it 4 stars because although I loved this book and story I don't believe its required reading.

Where to begin. First off, I'm starting to feel like all Danielle Steel books are the same. Maybe not the plot, but the characters. They're all the absolute best looking, richest, and most successful people on the planet. Just once I'd like to read a Danielle Steel book about an Average Joe. There's not much I can say about this book without giving away the ending, which is what I had the most problems with. The ending to this book was by far the dumbest ending of any book I've ever read. To say I was completely exasperated and dumbfounded would be an understatement. I feel like giving this book two stars is being generous, but I didn't completely hate it, which is why I didn't give it only one. Definitely not my favorite Danielle Steel.

Loved reading the engaging and amazing story by the best selling author, Danielle Steel. When Nadia finds out her husband is having an affair, she is shocked and can't believe her husband of eleven years would do something like this. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting storyline with captivating characters.
I reviewed a copy of the book through NetGalley.

Danielle Steel's The Affair focuses on the widespread impact an affair by a husband has not only on his wife, but their entire family. The book starts with New York-based Rose, the widowed matriarch of a family of successful women, who is the editor-in-chief of a major fashion magazine. Rose is conflicted when she has to decide whether her magazine should feature a story that would be popular with readers but painful for her daughter.

The focus of the book eventually moves from Rose to her daughter Nadia, an interior designer based in Paris with her French novelist husband. When Nadia's husband has an affair on a movie set, Nadia's sisters and mother rally around her. Several of the characters face ethical quandaries: Is an affair forgivable? Should you disclose an affair if it is likely your spouse would never find out?

Based on their life experiences, readers will likely either identify with Nadia and her family members or condemn them for their choices. The book is an easy read and will take the readers to various glamorous locales, such as chateaux in France to swanky Parisian apartments.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for providing me with a galley of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Affair by Danielle Steel is another one of her wonderful family-oriented novels. Rose McCarthy, runs a successful magazine, who is widowed and the matriarch of 4 grown and successful daughters. She is a workaholic, but always finds time to keep up with her daughters lives and happiness. During a meeting at the magazine ‘Mode’, her staff wants to do a cover for a young new actress, especially since there is a scandal of the girl being pregnant. To Rose’s dismay, which she keeps quiet, the man with the pregnant actress happens to be her son in law. Rose must make a decision to allow this to be on her magazine, even to the possibility of interviews. She calls three of her daughters, to find out what they knew and their thoughts, before she calls her youngest daughter, Nadia, whose husband is cheating on her publicly.

Nadia talks to her mother, explaining that she is trying to keep her two young daughters from discovering about their father. She was blindsided by all the publicity, and how her husband is besotted with this young actress, but he pleads with her to give him a chance until he helps the actress with the baby, and leave her, since he still loves Nadia. Rose will fly to Paris, where they live, to help Nada in making the right decision, as Nadia ensures her mother to go forward with the cover, as everything is out in the open. Naida needs to deal with her husband, protect her daughters, and decide what is best for her.

Nadia’s three sisters decide to fly to Paris and spend a long weekend at their chateau to help give her support and advice. It was wonderful to see the sisters together, and how close they were. We get to meet each of them, and learn about their own lives, and their significant others. Nadia is happy to be with her sisters, as each will have their own thoughts. All four of the girls have their own successful business in different fields; Nadia, is an interior decorator who lives in France, Olivia is a court judge living in New York, Venetia, is a fashion designer and Athena, is a celebrity chef living in Los Angeles.

What follows focuses mostly on Nadia, and whether she can move past Nicholas discretion, and decide if she should divorce him. I loved how all four sisters were so close, and always being there for each other; even their significant others were pretty good. Besides Nadia’s issues, we get to see how the other sisters are dealing with this, as well as their own drama and secrets along the way, not to mention how great Rose was in having such a great close-knit family.

The Affair was a wonderful family story line that brought the family together in this crisis. This was so very well written by Danielle Steel.

When Rose McCarthy, the editor-in-chief of Mode magazine, had to make a tough decision involving the cover spread of the September issue, she never thought it would involve one of her children. Her personal life has never come into her office. The newest Hollywood's up and coming actress was having an affair with her youngest daughter's husband. Luckily her staff didn't know that the star's lover was her son-in-law. Yet. Nadia and her family lived in Paris, Rose wasn't even sure that her daughter even knew about the affair, she'd never even mentioned anything about trouble in her marriage. Before Rise approved the feature, she had to get Nadia's input.

After speaking to her three other daughters: Athena, Olivia, and Venetia, Rose called Nadia and then booked the next flight to Paris to see her daughter and her two granddaughters.

Nadia and Nicholas have been married for 11 years. He's a successful author, his book was just turned into a movie and he was on set the whole time. That's when the affair with Pascale started, but now that she's pregnant with his baby, he wants to see where this will go. He doesn't want a divorce, he wants his wife and kids to wait 6 months until the baby is born, then he will go back to his marriage. Pascale is only 22 years old, only interested in the next party. But Nadia is done.

With her sisters and mother visiting this summer and giving their emotional support, she knows that she will get through this. After all, she's her mother's daughter.

But after secret revelations from her sisters this summer, is it better to be dead inside and to never love again, but have your days filled with work? Or should she give the man she will always love another try?

I was really taken in by this book. it follows a family of 4 sisters and their mother across the United States and Paris. They're all high powered successful women in their very diverse fields and its so nice to see strong female leads. When Nadia's husband comes out in a very public affair with a celebrity we follow Nadia, her daughters and her matriarchal lineage on how they cope and follow through on this very public journey. Rose, Nadia's mother, is forced to include the affair in her very popular magazine.

Now here is where things get trick and SPOILER ALERT I hated how it ended. The whole book Nadia is divorcing her husband and has made up her mind even though all her sisters try to sway her opinion. Then all of a sudden a light switch flips and she's just like OK NVM! These are strong female leads. Let her drop her skeevy horrible husband. Don't be afraid of the non happily ever after ending. It ended nice but I just hated that for 3/4 of the book she made up a decision and then oops never mind i love him even though he's cheated on me TWICE and I love him so whatever and its all happy flowers moving forward. I was annoyed. It felt so rushed and all of a sudden and even if she wanted to go back to him like go into that betrayal and back and forth. it was just so abrupt.

Even though I was unhappy with the ending it was still a great book. 4 stars for sure!

As shocking as it may sound I had never read a Danielle Steel book until this one and I love romance novels. So I was super excited to get the chance to read The Affair. While the plot isn’t groundbreaking, the characters is what draws you in. I loved Rose and her relationship with her daughters, you could feel the love they had for each other especially with what Nadia was going through with Nicolas. I really liked this book but I couldn’t give it 5 stars because I absolutely hated Nicolas, he was arrogant, selfish and I hated what he put his family through and because of that, what happens in the story kind of ruined my view of the book. A lot of people will probably love this book but sadly not me. However I will be checking out more Danielle Steel books, hopefully I will like them more than this one.

Have you ever wondered just how much you are willing to forgive and compromise for those you love? The Affair will make you ask yourselves those very questions. I have often wondered how Danielle Steel can write so many novels and make you feel differently after each one. When a high-profile affair is uncovered a family will find themselves in turmoil. Coming together to support one another, three very different sisters must work together to support one of their own.

Woman is alone
Man has hurt woman in the past
Woman is angry!!

Woman finds man
Woman is happy again
Wait they have a disagreement!
Time apart
Woman and man make up

Typical Steel rhetoric paining women as helpless to a degree without a man in her life. I don’t know why I keep reading this antiquated take on life. Of course they’re all wealthy, thin and beautiful- just like real life. We have to stress thin and tall, that’s all we find acceptable in society.

Esh. I hope for a new formula each time and each time I’m discussing.

And Danielle Steel has done it again!!!!! I love all of her books, she’s an amazing writer, and the way she describes everything? It’s like I’m right there in that book with the characters, I love it.

This book had me gasping on every page. Even though it was a short read and she got to the point, I just couldn’t believe what Nadia went through, it was heartbreak in top of heartbreak, and I was so happy that she was making her husband suffer, because he deserved it.

I love scandal, and this book had it all, even a little lesson that Nicolas himself had to learn, it was a sweet ending, and it felt amazing to see that even at the end everything ended up working out, It shows that strength of a woman who won’t give up. Danielle Steel always delivers great and strong female characters.

Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This Affair left me questioning my morals and what I would do if the situation was reversed. Would I be able to take back a spouse who publicly humiliated me by impregnating his mistress? Before reading #TheAffair it would have been a hard no as I wouldn't be able to trust him again. That being said, is being right worth losing love?

When Nadia's French husband has a public affair with a hot young actress, she's left reeling, A bestselling novelist, Nicolas wouldn't have penned the ramifications and media attention his discretion warranted. Will Nadia be able to put his affair behind them or is divorce the only way to put her feelings to bed?

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the early read in exchange for an honest review. While I struggled at times putting aside my views of adultery, the love between the sisters made me fall in love with Nadia's family. Without giving away Nadia's final decision, this quote from the novel perfectly reflects the love, loss and labor we face during life.

"The beauty and unpredictability of life, the strength of the human heart to endure and prevail, and the love which made it all possible." (Danielle Steel)
