I haven't read a Danielle Steele book in years and The Affair was a great selection for me to make the jump back in. Ms Steele has a way of drawing the reader in quickly and creating a story that connects.

This is the story of family, Rose and her daughters are close yet are all independent women with careers and separate lives and interests. When daughter Nadia's famous husband has an affair with a much younger actress (who becomes pregnant with their child), Rose and her daughters rush to support Nadia. Entanglements ensue as Nicolas says he still loves Nadia and wants to make their marriage work.

This is a story of familes, sisters, love, hate, and the possibility of forgiveness. Having 2 daughters I totally related to the drama in this book. AND - reading about drama of the privileged and famous is one of my favorite pastimes! Thanks to Netgally, Danielle Steel, and Delecorte Press for the opportunity to read this book.

Relationships, successful careers, anger, forgiveness, love and hate are all elements that make this a book you do not want to put down until finding out how all of these things will be resolved.

I enjoyed this romance story. This is a great author that has awesome writing skills and her attention to details make the story realistic. This book is no different. It is a great romance story that is written with alot of heart. This is a story about a mother and her four daughters. What will happen when a husband gets another woman with child but wants his cake and eat it too? This is a heart warm story about a struggle between right and wrong the what happens when one person steps out of their relationship. These are connectable and strong women that really made the story for me. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Nadia's husband Nicholas has cheated on her big time- he's gotten Pasquale, a hot young actress, pregnant. What to do? She's living in Paris with their two little girls and debating her future when her mother Rose, a magazine editor, steps in and brings together the family to help Nadia think. Her sisters Athena, Olivia, and Venetia, are all sucessful women and they each have their own take on the situation. This is about the power of family and how your sisters can help you through. I liked each of the women, even if I didn't completely agree with them at times. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Steele fans will be pleased with this outing. Others, new to her, should know that it's a good read that is perfect for a snowy day.

The Affair was a quick read with the typical Danielle Steel trademarks. Loved reading passages describing the dynamics between the mother and her four very different daughters. Nadia’s indecisiveness was totally understandable, but my own decision would have been to leave Nicolas given the decisions he made. Rose’s dilemma with her magazine’s cover shoot was the perfect catalyst for the book. A satisfying read written by Danielle Steel, published on March 2nd by Delacorte Press and offered as an arc by NetGalley.

Thank you NetGalley, Danielle Steel and Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine for the ARC of The Affair. This is my personal review.
Rose and her four daughters are all strong successful women. Each has chosen the path in life that they are all different. They are a very close-knit family and when there is pain in one of their lives, they are there for each other.
Nadia has been married for many years and lives in Paris with her husband and two daughters. Nicholas is a writer and director. As he is filming a movie he falls for Pascale. Pasclae a famous star and Nicholas a director, it is not long before the entire world knows about the affair. Nadia hides it from her daughters for as long as she can but when Pascale becomes pregnant, she knows Nicholas must let the girls know before too long.
I enjoy each book written by Danielle Steel. Her ability to draw me into the story is excellent.

The book follows Nadia and her journey through her husband's blatant affair with a young movie star and the baby that is a result of affair. I enjoyed the first half of this book more than I did the second half. My main issue is that it took WAY too much time to even get to Nadia's character. The entire first chapter, the first 14% of the book, is spent on Nadia's mother Rose and her job,

Strong family ties are a big part of this storyline, as they are in many of Danielle Steel’s books.

Rose and her four daughters, all very successful women, though very different in personality, yet are very close, comprise the family who so closely supports each other. They all support married daughter, Nadia, whose author husband, Nicholas, has an affair with a young movie star and ends up fathering a child with her. Nadia is devastated, not only from having her heart broken, but because of their two young daughters. Nicholas realizes his mistakes and that he still loves Nadia and wants to try to rekindle their married life. Nadia is so heartbroken that she just wants to get past this, however, knows in her heart that she still loves Nicholas.

Can memories of better times, and a deep love combine to give them a second chance at love, or will so much hurt, along with a child by another woman make that impossible?

Relationships, successful careers, anger, forgiveness, love and hate are all elements that make this a book you do not want to put down until finding out how all of these things will be resolved.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House/Ballentine for the ARC of the book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I have so many mixed feelings about this book which I knew I would considering the title but I always request books by this author without knowing what the book is about. The story is about Rose and her 4 grown daughters who lead completely different lives. Nadine is married with two children when her husband, Nicholas, not only cheats on her with a very young starlet but also impregnated her. Her sisters come to her to help her through this tough time in her life with different opinions on what she should do. I so enjoyed the first half of this book as it centered around Rose and her daughters and you were able to learn so much about their lives. However, the second half was all about Nadine and it was like the other characters just disappeared. Without giving it away, I was very disappointed in the end.

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing-Ballantine books for an arc of this book. The comments and review are my honest opinion.

Danielle Steele writes in “The Affair” with her usual family angst and love that has brought millions of loyal readers to her books
Nadia and Nicholas, living in Paris, have been married for eleven years and are parents to two girls. Nadia has a flourishing interior design business and Nicholas is a successful author/director.
In this novel Nicholas has a very public affair with Pascale, the young star of his movie. Pascale has relentlessly pursued Nicholas and lust eventually overcomes his sensibilities and she becomes pregnant. As expected Nadia is heartbroken but cannot decide to divorce Nicolas, or should she try to stay in what she thought was a strong marriage for her children.
I gave this book 4 stars as I felt that Nicolas should have felt more deeply what his very public discretion caused his family and Nadia should have made a decision one way or the other concerning her marriage sooner.

The Affair was unexpected for me. It follows Nadia and her journey of dealing with an affair. It also brings in the element of how wonderful and supportive a family can be. I personally loved the ending. It was a pleasant surprise.

I am a longtime fan of Danielle Steel and am always excited to read her novels. I love how she always writes about close family members and the intricate blend of sensitive topics and drama within the familial web. Her novels tend to focus on the rich or upperclass, and the characters are beautiful, elegant and prominent; yet show realistic down to earth characteristics and traits as well. The relationships her characters have with each other are so believable and perfectly described, it is always intriguing to read about them and their lives.

The Affair touched upon so many different psychological elements of the varying relationships amongst the characters and I was incredibly intrigued and compelled. As always with Steel’s novels, I found myself contemplating what my points of view were and how I would act or react in each scenario. The best part of this novel, and all of hers, is the overwhelming comfort and portrayal of family and love - how can you not want to read something like that?

As with most Danielle Steel books, this one focuses on family. Nadia and NIcolas have been married for over ten years when he has a public affair. Nadia is devastated of course. The remainder of the book is about the support she receives from her powerful mother and four very different sisters who also have very differing opinions.
The characters were all well written and described. I went back and forth with how I wanted the book to go, but was happy with how it ended.

“The Affair” is the new emotional drama from Danielle Steel and was pleasant for the most part.

When I was growing up, Danielle Steel was my author for romance novels. Her novels mainly focus on the dramatic lives of family members and how they deal with various situations. In “The Affair,” she sets the landscape and characters wonderfully, true to her style. There were some similarities to her earlier works like “Kaleidoscope,” “Sisters,” and “The Numbers Game.”

Firstly, I loved the family bonding. The author wrote the love between the sisters wonderfully. No matter what the situation is, Venetia, Nadia, Olivia, and Athena are there for each other. Rose also shares a beautiful relationship with her daughters, and I loved the scenes where they all get together to help Nadia.

Secondly, I enjoyed the storyline revolving around Harley and Olivia. I liked how the author resolved their storyline, as it made sense under the circumstances. There are some negative characters like Pascale, who you love to hate. The main storyline surrounding Nicholas and Nadia also had me glued to the pages for the most past.

However, the ending spoiled the story for me concerning Nadia’s storyline. It was not a conclusion that I had hoped, as it felt that the author was encouraging extramarital affairs because of the outcome in the story. Moreover, there were characters like Greg Holland, who was dynamic and charming but was not prominent. Even Rose started the story with a bang, but we hardly saw her as the story progressed.

Overall, I would have enjoyed this story if some of the elements were different. Nevertheless, “The Affair” is a lovely story that is still enjoyable if you are in the mood for a classic Danielle Steel emotional drama.

THE AFFAIR
BY DANIELLE STEEL

The synopsis of this book sounded so intriguing I knew that this was one that I felt compelled to read. I have to be honest. I didn't enjoy this one as much as her previous novel, which I absolutely loved called "Neighbors." I don't know if it was just me finding the subject matter too painful as I overly emphasized with the main character Nadia who has a kind and gentle heart. Her husband Nicolas Bateau of whom Nadia has been happily married to for eleven years and they share two young daughter's named Sylvie and Laure has been having an affair with a twenty-two year old actress and he has gotten her pregnant. Pascale is the sensational leading lady starring in the movie directed by Nicolas based on his best selling novel who is slated to win an Oscar. She is having the baby even though she doesn't intend on raising it with Nicolas or having a lasting relationship with him. This is humiliating for Nadia as the wife and she is deeply hurt and rathtionalizes that she is protecting her two daughter's by allowing Nicolas to sleep in the guest bedroom of their family apartment in Paris hiding it from Sylvie and Laure. Kid's always know more than their parents think they do. Sylvie who is eleven year's old figures out that all is not well.

I thought that Nicolas was extremely selfish in asking Nadia to be willing to endure the unimaginable pain as his wife and sit on the back burner waiting until Nicolas was done standing by Pascale until she gave birth. Also very selfish expecting Nadia to put up with him bouncing back and forth between both women at the same time. Expecting to resume their marriage as if nothing had happened. First of all, how could Nadia ever trust him again? I thought Nicolas professing to Nadia that she was his only true love and his desire for Nadia to wait until Pascale delivered his baby and expecting Nadia to believe that after the baby was born that they could go back to the way things were before his betrayal was totally unrealistic and self serving to him. Maybe that is totally acceptable for a husband to behave in France's culture but Nadia had been born and raised in the United States and even though she felt more like a French citizen than an American she had suffered a great deal but was trying to hold their family together initially.

I admired Nadia's character for not being impulsive and taking her time to discover how she wanted to deal with the situation. I admire the strength that it takes to not immediately react when in a difficult situation that is such a blow to one's life as the heartbreak Nadia endured. She had the wisdom to give the situation time and much thought before taking immediate action. She was not sure at first how to handle things regarding Nicolas and his mistress beyond trying to shield and protect her two daughter's from having their lives imploding and their security of an intact family compromised. So Nadia took the time to give her daughter's the illusion that nothing had changed. She also gave herself plenty of time to discover a solution that was something that she could live with without regrets by doing what was best for her and her daughter's.

Nadia was lucky that she had three supportive sisters and a loving mother in the United State's that rallied around her and they all were incredibly close despite the long distance. Her mother, Rose was an over achieving editor of Mode Magazine who at the age of sixty-six and widowed was a fierce protector of her four daughters. So when one of her reporting writer's on staff suggested doing the Fall issue with the cover featuring a photograph of a pregnant Pascale Solon and an interview of both Pascale and Nicolas it is much to Rose's dismay since Nicolas is her son-in-law. Rose doesn't tolerate trashy tabloid journalism and furthermore doesn't want to hurt her daughter, Nadia.

Nadia and her mother come up with an idea for an all girls fourth of July celebration and the three sister's each weigh in on their opinions of what Nadia should do about Nicolas Nadia stands her ground with telling them that she hasn't yet made a decision about what she wants to do. Venetia and Athena were more compassionate with their sound advice. Olivia was more judgmental and harsh. All four of Rose's daughter's had successful careers and were happily married except Athena. Athena and her life partner, Joe didn't want to get married and both didn't want children getting their fix with nieces and nephew's. They had several dogs and lived in Los Angeles. After an enjoyable family get together in France spent with lavish meals, spending time on the beach and swimming in the pool, Nadia felt more at peace and was thrilled that her daughter's got to spend time with their Aunt's, Uncle's and Grandmother. What will Nadia decide to do? Will she stay with Nicolas or divorce him?

This was more of a character study to me. As I said I loved her previous book "Neighbors," much better. In this novel I found the writing to be repetitive and the same details appeared throughout the narrative. The premise was interesting and although I felt that Pascale and Nicolas's character's were unrealistic and self centered, I thought that Nicolas was an excellent father despite the peril he caused by doing what he did causing both his daughter's and Nadia to suffer the consequences. There is no denying that he was attentive to his children and was generous with his time. I was happy with the progression that the character's made and I was happy with the ending.

I always enjoy reading Danielle Steel’s novels and The Affiar was no exception. It was a very well written book like she always does and it was a very quick read. I like how thorough she is with her character development and that never fails to capture me and make me become engrossed into their lives.

This book is about a family with the mother as a powerful figure in the magazine world and her four daughters who are all equally successful on different levels. When one daughter is involved in a scandal through no fault of her own the family rallies around her and helps her through this tough time. Each sister and mother have a different take on the situation but ultimately the woman who is going through the scandal shows how strong she can be and it makes you think about what you would do if you were in the same situation. Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group- Ballantine for allowing me to read this book and give my honest opinion.

Rose McCarthy’s staff at Mode magazine wants to do a cover shoot on a young hot actress. Much to Rose’s dismay the actress is having an affair and is pregnant with her daughter Nadia’s husband. Her other three daughters, Athena, Olivia and Venetia all rush to Paris to comfort and give advice on what Nadia should do. The news about the affair has brought out a secret that Olivia has kept from her husband. Rose and her daughters unite in their effort to help Nadia through this time but in the end Nadia must decide if she wants to get a divorce or is her love enough to forgive and save her marriage!

This healing story was gripping. I swayed on how I wanted it to end, changing my mind constantly, but I loved how it played out. It got a little too tedious at the beginning with all the descriptions of every little detail, but the information was needed for the story. Provided by NetGalley.
