Dylan Moran's life couldn't be much worse than it is at the moment. His wife, Karly, was recently killed in a car accident while Dylan was driving, drowned in their trapped car that Dylan barely escaped. He had met her after another accident, one in which his best friend had died. That's a lot of trauma to handle. Dylan is desperate to find a way to process all that has happened, especially the part he hasn't told anyone. After the accident, he saw something unreal; he saw himself in the crowd of bystanders. Not someone who looked like him, him in the flesh.
Dylan goes to see a therapist. She introduces himself to the concept of alternate worlds and suggests that the man he saw may have come from such a place. Dylan is skeptical but agrees to try the therapy. He is transported to another world and realizes that there is an alternate world created by each decision he makes. There are multiple alternative worlds and multiple versions of himself. Most of them he isn't interested in; they are boring men just plodding through their existences. But there is the man he saw after the accident and he knows this man he must engage. The other Dylan is a killer and his only desire is to kill more people and pin the crimes on Dylan in his world.

As Dylan fights to find and put a stop to his alternate, he finds pieces of the traumatic world he has left. He finds out the secrets behind Karly's distance before the accident, the reason his friend was killed, and his own possible life choices that would result in very different lives. He is slowly healing but as he pursues his doppelganger, it is clear that it will be a kill or be killed scenario. Which Dylan will survive?

This is a novel that requires the reader to have a strong ability to suspend disbelief. The idea of alternative worlds with alternates created by every decision is a new concept to many and may not be believable to them. Dylan is also a character it is difficult to have empathy for, his life a series of selfish decisions that bring him an unfulfilled life. Yet the author finds a way to end the book in a manner that provides hope going forward. This book is recommended for thriller readers.

Reading Between the Wines book review #118/115 for 2021:
Rating: 3 ½ 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 🎧: Infinite
Author: Brian Freeman
Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers
Available now!

Sipping thoughts: This is a different type of book than the psychological thrillers I am used to with a bit more sci-fi(ness). Imagine depending on the choices you have made in life (think sliding doors) you are alive in different parallel universes. Then imagine you become woke to this reality and then start exploring the different yous in the different universes. Dylan experiences this and comes face to face with loved ones with different personalities and some are even dead in some universes. Will Dylan find that he can choose a better universe than one he was initially in or will he find that messing with science can ruin the life you knew.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @ThomasAndMercer for an advanced copy of @Infinite.

this was a great mystery novel, it had what I was looking for in this type of book with great characters and a great storyline. The author has a great writing style and I look forward to more from them.

This book got my interest because of its synopsis. The mention of parallel universe in a synopsis always hooks me. I very much love the multiverse or Many Worlds concept. Whenever I see a book with this premise, I will be very much willing to read it.❤

This book is about Dylan Moran. He was in an accident and it traumatized him. One day he met someone that claims to know him. That's when he realized that another version of himself is in this world, his world. Those aren't spoilers by the way as it was in the synopsis.

The writing is very engaging. I think this my first book from this author and it was a blast.👍 I felt the tension, misery and helplessness of the characters while reading. There were times that I didn't agree with Dylan's decisions but I was still rooting for him until the end.

The mysteries and the twists kept me reading this. It was very action packed and it kept me on edge all throughout.

It kinda reminded me a bit of Dark Matter, just a bit. I love how the story concluded.👍❤

Thank you to the publisher & Netgalley for my ARC of this book.

The premise is fantastic—a man discovers parallel universes and one of his alternate timeline selves has nefarious goals.

But the writing is stilted. In a book about doppelgangers, surely there's another means to describe the MC without having them staring at their own face in the mirror. The plot and the writing is repetitive (literally—I remember what happened 2 pages ago, I don't need a flashback for it). And I lost count of how many women "needed" to die to advance the MC's character development.

I'm so frustrated; it feels like there could have been a ton of simple fixes that would have made this book absolutely fantastic, but just really dragged it down, and the ending was the final nail in the coffin for me.

Of course, there is a heap of great reviews for this book. So, you might love it.

What an amazing thriller with a unique vibe to it. I like the writing of Brian Freeman and he is climbing the ladder of my favorite writer kind of fast. This book is fast pace and procure a very satisfying ending. I recommend it!

I have read several of Brian Freemans books but this might be his best. This is a mind bending psychological thriller where the line between reality and something perceived as reality is so blurred that you keep asking yourself what did just happened. It reminded me a lot of the books by Blake Crouch which also is a master at mind bending thrillers. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Brian Freeman and Thomas & Mercer for this ARC..

I was not sure what to expect when I started this book. This is the first novel I have read by Brian Freeman, and I am impressed. This book exceeded my expectations. Action-packed and full of twists, Infinite was a suspenseful book full of twists.

One stormy night Dylan Moran's life is shattered. Driving home, his car plunges into the river and his beautiful wife Karly drowns. Devastated and consumed with guilt and grief he struggles to cope with the loss. One memory haunts him above all, waking on the riverbed to a face staring down at him. His own. It isn't until he sees his mysterious doppelganger again that he begins to question his grip on reality. He eventually meets a psychiatrist who informs him that he is her patient. With no recollection of ever meeting Dr. Eve Brier, Dylan is perplexed. He has been undergoing a unique and experimental therapy based on the premise that infinite parallel universes exist, and there is a way to travel to these alternate realities. Dylan soon realized that this other Dylan he has been seeing must have travelled to his world and is trying to destroy Dylan's life. The other Dylan is a psychopath on a killing spree. Jumping from one parallel reality to the next, Dylan is determined to stop him. Seeing first hand the lives the many other Dylan's live, he longs for his wife. Is there a way he can change what transpired and get his life back? Or will this other Dylan succeed in his mission to become the only Dylan?

What a ride Infinite by Brian Freeman turned out to be. From start to finish, it was fast-paced and full of action. I was sucked right into this world of alternate realities. It was interesting the way Dylan travelled from world to world, encountering many of the same people in each alternate reality. The lives of the other Dylan were quite different than his own life, yet some elements intertwined with Dylan's life.

The protagonist of the novel was Dylan Moran, a man devastated by the loss of his wife. At the beginning of the novel, Dylan was an angry man, haunted by traumatic memories from his past. It appeared that he took the people in his life for granted. Once he lost his wife he saw the error in his ways. He had many regrets about how he had lived his life. As time went on, there was a change in his character. Despite the circumstances, he became more introspective and less volatile. He accepted his flaws and was willing to change.

One constant in the alternate realities was Dylan's best friend Roscoe. In his reality, Roscoe had died in a car accident. It was heart-warming that Dylan was able to see Roscoe again. Roscoe still acted as Dylan's anchor in the alternate realities and Dylan was able to confide in him.

I loved the ending of this book. It was not at all as I expected. I was satisfied with how events concluded and how the conflicts were resolved. Infinite was a page-turner that I could not put down, full of suspense and excitement. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview Infinite by Brian Freeman. I really like Freeman's work - he writes in a way that grabs you and keeps you on the edge till the last page.
This book for me is a departure - suppose there is another you - somewhere in the universe - looks like you and is you - but NOT YOU.

Dylan Moran's wife has died in a tragic accident - a terrible car accident that he survives but she does not - but Dylan remembers seeing someone that night, but can't believe what he saw - He saw himself on the banks of the river, as he is trying to save his wife, and he pleaded for help - and this person walked away.
Dylan is haunted by glimplses, memories, and he is seeing things - Dylan is now a haunted man seeking answers and knowing that no one will believe anything he says. Dylan is drawn into parallel universes that bend his mind and find peace - what's real - what's not - nothing is as it is or should be or ever will be!

Different - good ending.
3.5 stars.

What would happen if you could go back and make different choices? In his book Infinite, Brian Freeman gives us the character of Dylan Moran who is caught in a dark depression after a car accident that claimed the life of his wife. He meets a psychiatrist who introduces him to the Many Worlds and sends him there where he finds another Dylan who has become a serial killer. It'll take a Dylan to stop a Dylan.

Initially this book felt like a rehash of Dark Matter - another multiverse story. But Freeman quickly moves into his own fast-paced story. You wonder if Dylan can stop his doppelganger. And Freeman makes you question what is real and what might be a dream. The unexpected ending explains it. Great tension in the last third of the book. Some nice resolution from Freeman.

First of all, the sun rises and sets with Brian Freeman. I have read and LOVED every single one of his 5-star series and stand-alones. I was not overly excited at the description of this one, as my tastes run to ordinary, run-of-the-mill murder/suspense stories and I was hoping for another installment with his regular characters. I DO NOT read weird, out-there, sci-fi type books. This one was different as it had Brian Freeman as the author, so I gave it a chance. Very glad I did. This is definitely weird and out there, but this author pulls it off. It had enough mystery and suspense to keep me interested in the weird, out-there alternate universe goings on. At first 4 stars because, yes, I would still have rather read another Jonathan Stride, Cab Bolton or Frost Easton novel, but a final 5 because he managed to do the impossible, make me both read and like this sort of thing. Now please, more Stride, Bolton or Easton. Thank you!!

Thank you to #NetGalley, Brian Freeman and Thomas & Mercer for this ARC!

What if you found out that you are leading multiples lives? Quantum physicists claim it could be so. But what if one of the other "yous" came into your present life, and not for the purpose of doing good? Freeman (all of whose books are really good) explores this premise in INFINITE. Metaphysical meets mystery - awesome!

This was a good book, having read all of Brian Freeman's previous book I will say this it not at all like anything else he has written, which is a good thing. Dylan Moran is having a very bad day, he has just survived a near drowning after a car accident that had taken the life of his wife. The police are asking him some pointed questions that he's struggling to answer. Dylan works as an event planner at hotel, and that same evening a woman is giving a talk about many worlds, basically that more than one life exists for everyone. In one life you may have lost your wife, in another your wife is alive and well. After the woman gives her talk, Dylan has a more in depth discussion with her about her many worlds concept. He's convinced he saw himself standing at the side of the river while his car was sinking. To say much more would reveal spoilers and I think if you are interested in this type of plot you will enjoy what Dylan goes through, I know I raced through this book. Highly recommend. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

A thank you to Netgalley for sharing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am no great scientific mind, so complex mathematical theories a la Good Will Hunting and the laws of phyics far exceed my comprehension level. They are, however, fascinating to think about (albeit if your me, from the "Whao," Bill and Ted sort of way) so the premise of the story is fun to ponder and there's a lot to chew on. After a while though, the cycle starts to feel a little to 'rinse, cycle, and repeat,' of which I grew rather weary. Interesting and engaging, but too much of something isn't always a most welcome thing.

Dylan wakes after a car accident to find that his wife has been killed in the accident. He also sees what he thinks is himself standing over the scene. Later he encounters this duplicate self again, and eventually he finds out he's been undergoing some sort of therapy that allows him to interact with infinite parallel universes. Unfortunately, the Dylan from another world has come to his world and is destroying the life of narrator Dylan. It's very hard to explain. I've really enjoyed some of Freeman's other books, but this was very different to what I've read by him before. I can't say I really enjoyed it all that much. It was an interesting idea and a fast read, but also not really as good as I had expected. The ending was not what I expected, and I did like that. 3 stars.

Dylan Moran survived a car accident but sadly his wife Karly did not make it. Dylan feels incredibly guilty that he could not save her. While trying to move on, Dylan starts having strange visions of a man who looks just like him. Dylan also starts feeling like he has been in more than one place at a time. This other version of himself might be a killer and Dylan is seeing him everywhere he goes. This story was so different than anything I have read before. The author does not disappoint in keeping me glued to the book from beginning to end. This was a Halloween bag full of twists and turns. I enjoyed this book so much, what a fascinating story! Thank you kindly to NetGalley, publisher and author, for allowing me to read a copy of this wonderful book.
