This book was so good at instantly drawing me in. It touches on the ideas of love, loss, revenge, redemption. The main character is charming and you cannot help but root for him. My only issue was the over emphasis on the world building and not enough plot and character focus.

This had a lot of potential, but it didn't quite meet it. The idea was great, but the way it was written felt like it was going around in circles trying to get to the point.

The Brighter the Stars is a sci-fi novel set in 2100's and Earth is no longer the only known life in the universe. The story follows Jake and his best friend Cal and Cal's sister (Jake's crush) Diane through different adventures and across the universe. Overall the writing left much to be desired and the story was just okay, maybe I'm getting bored of the YA and my opinion is warped but I just didn't feel like this book jumped out at me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. All spelling and grammar errors are totally my own.

Enjoyable, but not memorable. I‘m sure the fact The whole thing about the new ambassador going to the planet she was assigned to reminded me of A memory called empire so I hoped I was going to read something similar but this novel is not as “adult‘ and politically complex as Martine‘s book. Not a fault of the book, I just misunderstood what I was going into. The book is pretty fast paced and some of the elements of the world building were interesting, the characters were ok even though I didn‘t really connect with them.
I suppose the book left a spot open for a potential sequel but I don‘t think I would read it, the book was not bad but I was not impressed enough to read more.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I feel like Earth United was an adventure filled with scenes/clips from superhero movies and some other shows. It's like one thing would happen and I would remember something from somewhere. It was weird but kind of entertaining for me.

The one thing I didn't like, and it's hard to admit, is the ending. As to why? Well, it kind of feels like we might get a second book but I didn't feel like we need another one. I just wanted everything to be explained and wrapped a bit better underneath a big red bow. Then I think I would've rated this a bit higher than I did. It was still an enjoyable book that picked up after the first few chapters.

This is fast paced and fun and reminded me of a Marvel movie. There's Uncle Ben who gets killed at the beginning, which triggers a chain of events that influences the rest of the book. Later in the book, Jake and Cal are thrown into an arena to fight and it reminded me of the Thor movie where he fights the Hulk haha.

The story is easy to follow and has plenty of action to keep you entertained. It wraps up pretty well but leaves room for a sequel if the author chose to do another book. What brought this down for me was that everything seemed fairly easy and the plot didn't have much depth. I would have liked to delve into things more, had higher stakes, or maybe just some drama thrown in to give this more substance.

The copy of this I received has a new title 'The Brighter the Stars' and a new cover. I think both are good choices and I hope they'll bring more attention to this book!

The idea was solid, a boy from Earth during a time when aliens existed, who lost someone he loved due to those aliens - what would he do? Clearly go on to become obsessed with being a soldier to right those long-ago wrongs. But they moved the characters far too quickly to their desired positions for it to make any sense. Jake (our hero) is maybe 18-24 and is sent with his best friend and his best friend's sister (who Jake has a crush on) on a top secret mission to infiltrate the alien planet and see if there is any sort of evidence for the long ago massacre? Are those three the only people in the whole military?

It was just too neat and pretty, but a strong idea.

The Brighter the Stars is definitely a sci fi novel that is unique and unlike others that I’ve read. I can see the influence of pop culture throughout. It’s YA and is based around a futuristic earth and intergalactic relations.

The world Prosek envisions I can see and I feel like the future may be like it. The characters are interesting and everything is explained in detail.

The pacing was decent and flowed quickly where I didn’t find myself wishing to move on.

I’m not too sure if I would read this book again but enjoyed the story. I would like to thank the publisher and netgalley for the arc.

The Brighter the Stars has an interesting concept and has taken inspiration from pop culture. It is a YA Sci-Fi / Fantasy book but is based around a future Earth and intergalactic treaties between other planets.

The world that Prosek built is believable in the sense that I can imagine that it would maybe look like that in the future.

Jake is such an interesting character. He went through so much as a kid which has shaped him into the man he becomes. He wants to honour is Uncle and find the person who helped murder his Uncle.

The friendships between Jake, Cal and Diane were lovely and I loved seeing the grow and change.

The pacing of the book is somewhat fast but not overly so. I didn’t feel like it was taking to long to find action.

The ending of The Brighter the Stars left it open for a sequel which would be interesting to see what would happen.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC
