Unfortunately Leda and the Swan was a miss for me. The mystery dragged out way too long, the protagonist was unlikeable, and it was heavy on the "not like other girls" trope.

For a debut novel I was incredibly impressed. This one kept me engaged throughout the story. There were a few times where the pacing was a tiny bit slow but not enough to bother me. Leda wakes up after a frat party unable to remember much of the night and finds her lip cut and a girl that she spoke to missing. As she goes through the next few weeks trying to piece everything together we get to tackle several hard subjects such as sorority/frat life, drinking/drugs, sexual conscent, and a missing person. I felt this was done tastefully. Overall I loved this story and can't wait to read more from this author.

Unfortunately, I just didn't care for this story. I kept going and finished the book, but to be honest, I should probably have DNF'd it. This just wasn't the book for me, but I'm sure others will enjoy it.

I've chosen not to review this book on any other platforms.

I really enjoyed the thriller feeling in this literary work. The college party scenes were fun and enjoyable to read and the relationships and dynamics seemed really believable. I enjoyed the characters. I think the problem I had with this book is I felt like I was waiting on the twist you'd typically encounter in a thriller or standard mystery and because of this, it made the end of the book a bit slow.

I enjoyed the descriptive writing and character development. The book begins with a wild campus Halloween party and a very drunk Leda. Leda interacts with a girl dressed in a swan costume who vanishes. I was instantly drawn into the story and couldn't wait to read more. I gave this book three stars because it took a long time for the story to progress.

This is, at times, so navel-gazey I wondered if my head was going to end up stuck up my ass entirely. Though there are moments which border on poignant, nothing was really achieved, development wise.

Taking a deep look at extracurricular activities below the surface of college campus life, this fictional novel compares the fun and freedom with the isolation and fear that exists in the lives of university students. Anna Caritj reveals the superficial friendship and relationships, that provoke dangers that are real.

The pace of this book kept me turning the pages and wanting to skip to the end, while also wallowing in the frustration and self loathing that comes with alcohol consumption without supervision and the resulting consequences.

This is a great YA read that will leave readers considering choice and consequence long after the last page.
