Right from the very beginning my heart was already invested in Sallie’s story. My heart just broke for her when she realizes that Jacob does not remember her after three days of the most memorable nights of her life and then three years going by with her basically trying to stay away from him. Jacob has noticed her around after their “first” introduction 3 years before, there is something about her that he recognizes but could not quite grasp from where. Now they are in the same bar and Jacob decides he is done waiting around. The pull of Jacob was too strong for Sallie and is engaged in another explosive night.

As the story moves along, we learn so much more about Sallie. She is actually on the run and has been trying to keep a low profile. Jacob also has a story that explains why Sallie seems so familiar to him but can’t seem to remember. When all is revealed and danger surrounds Sallie, Jacob is determined to keep her safe and never letting her go.

There are so many twists and turns and secrets everywhere! Sallie and Jacob’s story definitely kept me on my toes. Like in many of Lora Leigh’s books the chemistry between the characters are off the charts, the steam factor is definitely high. I only had the problem with the ending, there is a HEA but I felt like it ended too abruptly.

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

The story of Sallie and Jacob. They met years ago and he doesn't remember her, which upsets Sallie. But not everyone is who they seem, and the story unfolds you realise that they are both in danger.

A great read!

When Sallie meets Jacob, they are both different people.......literally! They have three amazing days in bed then Jacob is gone and Sallie is left on the run. Fast forward three years and they are thrown together in Jacobs home town. Sallie is in trouble and Jacob is just the man to help. This book has steam and action and drama and its amazing.

Sallie and Jacob in Strong Silent Cowboy
This book seems mis-titled. My patrons would think this is a cowboy tale when it is only very marginally so. It is more a spy thriller. Conversely my patrons who love spy thrillers are very unlikely to pickup a cowboy book.
That said, it was a good thriller. However, it left some very important questions unanswered, especially who was orchestrating the attacks and if she would be safe now or if the high level bad guys got away with it. Sallie was likable and seemed capable. Jacob was sensuous and macho. The love scenes were HOT. Even so, I would give this a 3 therefore would not purchase it for my library - my budget only allows 5s with a sprinkling of 4s.

Wow, Strong, Silent Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick was the wrong title for this novel. Jacob Donavan is anything but silent...strong, yes, but silent, no. He was also an obnoxious, overbearing, rude jerk who was very domineering in the bedroom. Sallie Hamblen, who was the woman he "marked as his own" by leaving hickies all over neck after he picked her up in a bar, so everyone would know she was his was a pushover, a doormat who had slept with Jacob 6 years before. He left and she was devastated, although he was the only guy she had ever been with and she idolized him to the point that she never slept with the guy she married on the rebound, as if her husband would be agreeable to that.

This whole novel was ridiculous, the sex was repetitive and unnecessary, except for the fact that it was used to make the book longer and to avoid having much of a plot. I have no problem with sex in a novel when it is done in a tasteful way that adds to the story and the relationship between the characters, but this was just sex for titillation...pointless. Then the book just ended with a declaration of love for always. Seriously? Unless you just want to read a romp in the hay, don't bother!

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of this novel for my honest review.

The H & h meet when she is in Switzerland with her ambassador stepfather & mother, while he, a CIA agent, is undercover on an assignment. They hook up and spend the weekend together in bed (putting it mildly) but thereafter he disappears without a word leaving her heartbroken and thinking that the connection she felt they had, had been one-sided.

After a failed marriage and finding herself being targeted for reasons unknown, Kyra is forced to live on the run, moving from place to place & changing her name. Finally moving to a small cowboy town only to come face to face with the very man who had broken her heart & finding that he doesn't even recognize her.

Jake Donovan is an ex-CIA agent turned cowboy. He's the most sought after bachelor in town who doesn't date or fool around. Something about "Sallie" keeps haunting him and they soon get into a sexual relationship.

There was just way too much sex & not enough story or romance in this book for me. The book starts off with Jake picking Sallie up at a bar, & them going to her place for sex. Ugh. After a while I was flipping pages, not another sex scene?! Sorry not my kind of book.

Strong, Silent Cowboy by Lora Leigh and Veronica Chadwick, published by St. Martin's Press, is book two in their Moving Vio. Series. Every book can easily be read as a stand-alone. The previous book is One Touch Cowboy.
This is Jacob Donovan and Sallie Hamblen's story.
Jake is a rancher and he loves his life. Sallie is a Secret Service Agent and surprised to find her former three days guy under another name at the small town of Deer Haven.
A great read, well written, entertaining. I loved the story, the writing and the characters, 4,5 stars.

I enjoyed the character development and the twisted in the plot. The ending however felt rushed and unfinished, unrefined. I also felt some of the intimate scenes, particularly the last didn't feel realistic, especially after what was just decided prior to the sex scene. It was a decent story though.

Sizzling romance awaits you in Strong, Silent Cowboy!
I was a bit confused in the beginning of reading this book. I just couldn’t figure out the backstory. Eventually I did grasp what was going on which did help me finish reading the book.
This is the second book in the series though this certainly can be read as a stand alone.
All in all, this was a satisfactory read with lots of mystery, intrigue and some steamy romance.
If you are looking for a hot romance to read, here it is!

The author has done it once again! I was enthralled in Jacob and Sallie's story. It had intrigue, miscommunication, spies and passion. So much passion! This is going on my reread shelf.

Strong, Silent Cowboy is for me a difficult book to review, in the main it was entertaining enough but let down by being at least 75% sex scenes and part thriller.
Sallie met Jacob in Switzerland when she was 18 and they spent a passionate weekend together, he left her bed telling her he’d be back but never returned. Fast forward 3 years and Sallie is living in a town under a different name running from a stalker convinced she has information on the where abouts of someone he’s looking for. Enter Jacob who now owns a ranch having previously been in the CIA. He doesn’t recognise Sallie and she is devastated so keeps well out of his way. Fast forward another 3 years and one night they are in the same bar together, eyes meet and the next thing they’re having sex and this continues rather like Groundhog Day.
The stalker returns and this is where the story could of had more depth and added interest but was let down because as soon as something happened they had sex, pages of sex. It had the potential to be so much better, I was really disappointed by the ending, it was so abrupt and didn’t real lead to any conclusion...oh but they did have sex....again.
Lacking depth for me I’m afraid, that said an easy read which I’m sure others will enjoy more than myself.
My thanks to net galley and publishers for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Loved this book! I stayed up way too late reading it, as I just couldn't put it down. The story is compelling, with a well crafted back story woven into it.
If you enjoy a sexy and demanding cowboy, you will love this book. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.

Hawt read... Wow... Authors are known for their scorching reads but really love the alpha male in this book... Jacob. Wowsa!

What did I like? This book from the first chapter just sucked me in... Kyra meets the hot man she spent a weekend burning sheets with and he doesn’t remember her. What? So obviously book starts with that elephant in the room feeling but then they start throwing off sparks... I’m grabbing popcorn just waiting for flames. Kyra and Jacob were a phenomenal couple!

Would I buy or recommend! YES! Scorching read and fantastic authors. Throw your support behind this book by grabbing a copy! Four huge stars.

I received a ARC to read and voluntarily left an opinion! Hawt book

I loved this story! It was an incredible page turner, with suspense, romance, HOT love scenes, heartbreaking emotions and characters you really cared about. Roger and Sallie ‘s lives both held tragedy and secrets. Both stubborn, both protective, they wasted years eyeing each other. He was intrigued and confused by his gut reaction to an apparent stranger. She was running for her life and was broken, frightened, thinking he had just walked away from her. When they finally start to reconnect I wanted to cheer out loud! Definitely a must read.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martins publishing for a review copy for an honest review.

I don't like alpha men who are over the top macho and overly superior. They aren't real and if they are then they aren't attractive. Honestly, I skipped most of the sex scenes because they were the same and it became boring. I didn't like Jacob, he was an ass. Sallie was pathetic and a total doormat. The book ended abruptly and there was no real conclusion to why she was being targeted. I actually had to force myself to finish this book AND IT HAD NO REAL ENDING. So many things left unsolved. I did like the other characters. I felt like there could've been more development if some of the unnecessary sex scenes had been cutout.

Six years ago Sallie meet a man in Switzerland, they spent three days in bed and when he went out one day, he never returned. Broken hearted she returns home and gets married. She is served with annulment papers a year later and then attacked in her home. She has been running for her life for five years and when she reached Deer Haven, she saw the man she thought she’d never see again. Jacob is a former CIA agent turned rancher and very protective of his family and friends. He is known to not date anyone from his town, when he takes Sallie home one night. Something about her is familiar but he just can’t figure it out. When her past catches up with her and secrets are revealed, can Jacob keep her safe?

First off, don’t pay attention to the description on GOODREADS. If you want to know about the book, read the description on Amazon. The only reason I didn’t give five stars was because the main characters dialogue ran together. That absolutely drives me crazy because I sometimes I have to go back and reread a paragraph or two to understand what’s going on. Secrets, sex, and suspense. Be prepared for a cold shower after reading this 🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Lora Leigh has always written some hot and steamy books and this one is no different.

Jacob and Sallie are drawn to each other like moths to a flame. She knows why and he doesn’t. That is part of the mystery trying to figure out why he can’t remember Sallie from their past. I’ll give you a little spoiler - he has a valid reason.

Sallie was definitely wise and mature for her age. I kept forgetting that she is only 24 in this book. Which is amazing, so many times our heroines are written to act younger and totally immature.

Jacob was everything I love; hot, over protective, extremely possessive, bossy, ex CIA and a Cowboy to boot. There is really no better mix (well maybe a biker).

So we have two great main characters in this hot little cowboy book and now you are probably wondering why this book was only 4 stars and not 5 for me? Well we all know how I feel about epilogues and endings right? This one just ended. Like I kept pushing on my kindle to turn to the epilogue and it wasn’t working. I almost called kindle support because there was no way it was just over. Was it a happily every after? Yes it was. But there was no sprinkles, no bow (which was definitely needed for a few loose ends in my opinion), no 5 minutes of reading in their future happily every after. Guys, you can’t do that to me. I NEED CLOSURE, like seriously!

All in all this was a solid smut-tastic read. I would definitely recommend picking it up if you are looking for your next hot romance to indulge in.

Strong, Silent Cowboy

This was the first book I have read from this Author. I was drawn in from the very beginning. So much suspense, I could not put the book (kindle) down. I was on the edge of my seat Sallie was on the run from who and why the story unfolded and then a lost love enters and wow, so much action was packed into this book and I love Cowboys and love the HEA.

Sloppy. This book was soooo sloppy.
It is highly repetitive and very scattered. It was going to be a DNF for me but I was like “no, give it a chance. It could get better.”.

It didn’t. This opens to 3 years after Sallie and Jacob initially met. Sallie is wondering if she was truly unforgettable to Jacob because he is all that she’s been thinking of. It was very hard to follow and had me wondering if something was missing. It was sooo rushed and I didn’t feel any sort of connection with the two characters.

Then it jumps 3 years into the future where Jacob finally takes a leap and goes up to Sallie with the clear intent of wanting to hook up. Of course she is down to clown because she has been pining for him for years... after only spending 3 DAYS with him 6 years ago.

It always seemed like it could have potential but then a sex scene was tossed in so they could avoid hashing it out, really talking to each other or to get to know each other. The sex scenes were super dragged out to the point I skipped over ALL of it. It had no importance to the story! I will say I’m so very glad that the word “feminine” was left behind after the first couple sex scenes. “Feminine moisture” BARF!!

As it was, this book wasn’t great in world building and terrible with basic descriptions. I didn’t even know Jacob had brown eyes until 80% in. Characters were tossed in as if you should know who they were and some seemed very important to the story. That’s when I finally questioned if this was book one in the series. In comes Goodreads, where lo and behold, the synopsis is COMPLETELY different than what is shown on Netgalley. Kyra (Sallie) is a secret agent and Jacob is a body guard? Not once was any of that mentioned.

I had a hard time with the character growth here. Jacob had none and Sallie went from very low self esteem issues to “aint no man telling me what to do”. While that’s great, I find everything hard to believe from the non existent chemistry between these characters to her believing she is unwanted when she has some secrets of her own that says otherwise. I just can’t with this book. I would be willing to give it 2.5 stars but I feel that’s being too generous. This needs a lot of work!
