"The first time Adrian Rizzo met her father, he tried to kill her."

At seven years old, Adrian saw pure evil. And it was her father. Years later, as she becomes successful and content in her own life, she experiences evil again. But her father is dead, so who is bringing it this time?

Raylan found happiness, then it was taken away in an instant. With his kids, he heads back to his hometown. He needs to be close to his sister and mother. For many reasons. When he connects with his sister's old friend, Adrian, it feels comfortable. Then it feels more than comfortable.

Evil is following Adrian and it's coming closer. Together, Adrian and Raylan face that evil. But it is not an easy task.

I loved this book. Of course, I am a Nora Roberts junky. She never disappoints with the way she tells a story.

This is a good read.
All the factors are there for the full Nora Roberts thriller experience. But something is just missing for me.
I found it slow moving in parts.
I enjoyed it but I wasn’t swept away in the story.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thanks to St. Martin's Press for my arc of this title.

I really enjoyed this book. I've been a fan of Nora Robert for over thirty years and she is just such a great story teller.

Legacy is a romance with a mystery/thriller vibe as the main character, a fitness influencer, has a stalker. As she relocates to her grandparents house, she runs into an old flame.

My thoughts:
- I feel like this book is sort of a Nora Roberts/JD Robb hybrid. A little more romance than is typical of JD Robb but more mystery than a typical Nora Roberts book.
- I really enjoyed the main character Adrian and her high school friends. I'm kind of a sucker for any story centered around an influencer. I thought it was interesting how Adrian is sort of a cross over from her mom's fitness videos, to more modern day influencers and streaming.

I think Legacy is a book that will satisfy Nora Roberts/JD Robb fans. For those new to Roberts, she is a master at story building and creating interesting characters.

This was a typical Nora Roberts romance with a dash of suspense and plenty of drama. The best part of this book was the friendships and families that were portrayed.

Adrian Rizzo was seven when she met her father for the first time, and he nearly killed her and her mother. Her mother has an exercise video empire, and Adrian sets up her own exercise online video empire when she hits her teen years. Her safe place has always been her grandparent’s house. When her grandpa leaves her his home, she decides to move to her favorite small town, Traveler's Creek. While there she rekindles her childhood infatuation with a good-looking friend Raylan. Adrian has been receiving threatening letters from a mysterious person for years, but they start to escalate. Who is stalking her and why?

I love Nora Roberts and this novel started off with a bang. I was reading quickly at first, but the story really seemed to drag in the middle. It was filled with making fitness videos and running errands. It seemed to go abruptly from scene to scene. I enjoyed the characters, but they weren’t as well developed as I am used to in a Roberts novel. Adrian herself I just didn’t connect with, which is troublesome when she is the main character. I also wasn’t feeling the romance as I usually do in her novels. I usually really love second chance romance and friends to lovers. The suspense seemed to come rather abruptly to the front of the story at the end of the book. Legacy felt like a mediocre Roberts novel, it was definitely not one of my favorites. It pains me to say this.

Favorite Quotes:

“The first time Adrian Rizzo met her father, he tried to kill her.”

“If her childhood had taught her anything, it was to make time for her passion, her responsibilities. And for the ones she loved.”

Overall, Legacy was an okay romantic suspense novel.

I have only read one other Nora Roberts book, so while I know of her, I’m a new reader of her works. This book was overall pretty decent. The story line was a little disjointed in my opinion, but overlooking that aspect I relatively enjoyed it. I also feel like it could have been a little shorter and nothing would have been lost.

This book is a quintessential Nora Roberts. It reminds me of why I love Nora's books so much. I would consider this an easy read, with some difficult parts. It is part love story, part how do you defend yourself story? Adrian Rizzo is one badass woman, and someone I would like to call a friend, too bad she is fictional! I enjoyed this book and I hope you do too!

I was able to get an early copy of this book from NetGalley and although I enjoyed it and would read any Nora Roberts book, I felt this was almost a retelling of previous book Hideaway just with different careers and locations and with a bit of her book Shelter in Place thrown in. In Legacy, Adrian is a dancer and ends up getting disturbing messages via the mail by a stalker just like in Hideaway where Caitlyn, an actress, was receiving threatening messages from a stalker only hers were electronic. In Legacy, Adrian has a childhood crush on her best friend's brother; in Hideaway, Caitlyn has a crush on the son of the family who helped her escape her kidnappers. Then there's the whole active shooter plotline with Raylan's wife at her school, which is similar to Shelter in Place, which had an active shooter in a movie theater. It's like she took aspects of a few other books and wrote this one. The story was still good and it was still easy to connect to the characters, but it also felt like it had all been done before.

It has been quite awhile since I have read a Nora Roberts book. ‘Legacy’, was an excellent book to reintroduce me to this very talented writer. ‘Legacy’ is a mixture of ambition, romance, mystery, murder and friendship all mixed into a well written and hard to put down novel. The main character Adrian is relatable and well developed. I think picking up another Nora Roberts book might be in order. I highly recommend “Legacy”.

I'm a big Nora Roberts fan and don't think she can write a bad book. That was the case with Legacy as well. The character building was superb and you were really drawn into the book The mystery aspect of the book kept me guessing until the end! Thanks for another must read!

Nora Roberts is wonderful, whether it is romance, suspense or a combination of the two. Her style is easy to follow, entertaining and well told. She always provides for an engaging read and has intriguing and different characters as well as plot lines! I do recommend this because it is no exception to her "standard rule" and she never disappoints!

Grateful to the author and publisher for allowing me to read this novel early. I love Nora Roberts. I hate to admit that it has been a while since I read one of her books and after reading this I am mad at myself ! No excuses ! This book was great. Grabs you right from the start and does not let go. One of the things that I loved about this story was that it was about 2 very independent strong lead characters. The second was there are dogs !! 2 awesome dogs and as a dog lover that was awesome. You will love this book !

Nora Roberts does it again! Another wonderful family drama with love, loss, friendship and suspense. Plus Sadie and Jasper! The story centers on Adrian, the granddaughter of the Rizzos and Raylan, a crush from when she was 7. Their stories come together halfway through after a devastating loss. The suspense continues right up to the end. Legacy has it all and shows Nora Roberts at her finest!

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced electronic copy of Legacy by Nora Roberts.

From the blurb: "Adrian Rizzo was seven when she met her father for the first time. That was the day he nearly killed her—before her mother, Lina, stepped in. Soon after, Adrian was dropped off at her grandparents’ house in Maryland, where she spent a long summer drinking lemonade, playing with dogs, making a new best friend—and developing the stirrings of a crush on her friend’s ten-year-old brother. Lina, meanwhile, traveled the country promoting her fitness brand and turning it into a billion-dollar business. There was no point in dwelling on the past. A decade later, Adrian has created her own line of yoga and workout videos, following in Lina’s footsteps but intent on maintaining creative control. And she’s just as cool-headed and ambitious as her mother. They aren’t close, but they’re cordial—as long as neither crosses the other. But while Lina dismisses the death threats that Adrian starts getting as a routine part of her daughter’s growing celebrity, Adrian can’t help but find the vicious rhymes unsettling. Year after year, they keep arriving—the postmarks changing, but the menacing tone the same. They continue after she returns to Maryland and becomes reacquainted with Raylan, her childhood crush, all grown up and as gorgeously green-eyed as ever. Sometimes it even seems like the terrifying messages are indeed routine, like nothing will come of them. Until the murders start, and the escalation begin"

So this was my first Nora Roberts novel. I know she is quite popular and she is a terrific writer. However, this book just wasn't for me. I wasn't a fan of the main character, Adrian. I found her pretentious and annoying. The whole mother-daughter fitness aspect didn't catch my interest. There was not much suspense or romance either. I had a hard time getting through this one and honestly, can't remember a whole lot about it.

This was very good. I haven’t read a ton of books written by Nora Roberts but I have had good luck with those that I have read so I went into this book rather hopeful. The story does start off with a bang and drew me in immediately and before I knew it I was invested in the characters. I am so glad that I decided to pick up this incredibly entertaining book.

We meet Adrian as a 7-year-old child as the father she has never met assaults her family. When the book draws to a close, we see her as a responsible adult. This book doesn’t nicely fit into any single genre since it is part coming of age, part romance, and part suspense. Adrian grows up to follow in her mother’s footsteps by creating her own line of yoga workout videos. Unfortunately, she has captured the attention of a stalker who sends her threatening poetry on a regular basis.

I liked Adrian a lot. She was a really well-adjusted individual and I thought that she was genuinely kind to those around her. She was incredibly close to her grandparents and her core group of friends and I really liked what they added to the story. The romance was later in the book than I would have expected but I really liked the way that it developed and I thought that it felt very real. The mystery doesn’t really pick up speed until the later parts of the book but I did appreciate the excitement it brought to the book.

January LaVoy did an amazing job with the narration of this book. I thought that she handled a large cast of varied characters with ease and I loved the emotion that she added to the story. I really felt that she brought this story to life and I believe that her performance added to my overall enjoyment of the book.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that the characters in this book were incredibly well done and I enjoyed the time that I spent with them. I will definitely be reading more from this talented author soon.

I received a digital review copy of this book from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from my local library.

Very classic Nora Roberts suspense. I really enjoyed this book and all the relationships in it. There were a lot of tears at times but still a very good book.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy. I have been a long time fan of Nora Roberts, and it has been years since I’ve read one of her books. This did not disappoint as it was a good mix of mystery, family, friendship and romance.

I am always a fan of a good Nora Roberts.

Legacy is a multi-generational novel set primarily around a young woman named Adrian, who met her birth father on the night that he tried to kill her, her mother, and her nanny, and Raylan, a young man she met when her mom left her with her grandparents for a summer in the aftermath. He's her childhood crush, but they remain friends while both go on their separate ways. A few tragedies end up bringing them back into each others' orbits.

I really liked the found-family aspect of this: while Adrian's mother wasn't necessarily absent, she wasn't necessarily there, and Adrian manages to thrive despite the caring neglect--she ends up with a full circle of friends, family, her friends' spouses, her childhood bestie and her childhood crush's family all in her orbit and they all just generally are there for each other, support each other, and help each other through various crises.

The one thing that really pulls me back from giving this a five star rating over a four star rating is that I had a hard time connecting with anyone because the book jumps around so much in time. This spans at least a couple of decades and it's difficult to feel for any character's tragedy when you barely see them before they suffer said tragedy.

Overall, though, it was exactly what I expected it to be and that was very comforting.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
