Great idea for a story. I don't know that I loved the dead wife angle, but it adds layers to Raylan. I felt like there wasn't much build up to Adrian and Raylan getting together and the time jumps were sometimes hard to follow. I figured out the killer pretty quickly, which was somewhat of a letdown. I did like that Roberts played with the idea of and almost set up a female killer, and was a bit disappointed when it was a man. Much of the "suspense" seemed forced and obvious, so I wasn't as lost in the story or the characters as I have been in the past.

Nora Roberts does not disappoint again, a fantastic story that will stay with you for a long time!! I enjoyed all of it.

Nora Roberts is a pro. Romance, Romantic Fantasy, Futuristic Romance, Romantic Suspense; she has written impressive books in a ton of sub-genre spaces, and she very rarely disappoints. Legacy continues her streak. Even though the formula for Roberts' romantic suspense is often familiar, it does not mean that the plot is boring. In fact, I was very much invested in the story and the characters, and REALLY wanted more! Legacy is about family, above all else. The family you're born with, and the family you make. Adrian Rizzo is the daughter of a successful exercise guru, who wants to make a name for herself, out of her mother's wide shadow. Adrian and her mother have never been especially close. Even after her biological father attempted to kill them both, Adrian's mother, Lina, used the publicity to promote her career, while Adrian was spirited away to stay with her grandparents. After Adrian finds success in her own right, and maybe a chance at love, someone threatens to tear it all down. What had been brushed off as routine threats to a celebrity may be anything but.... they may cost Adrian everything she holds dear, even her life.

Where this book really shined is the connections, the friendships and familial ties. Adrian's relationship with her grandfather, her crew, and Raylan are all sterling. There were tears shed, and laughs as well, though some of the laughs were at pieces of corny phrasing like "rocking it" and "it's so tight" to mean something is awesome. I can forgive that, since the rest of the book more than makes up for it. It's sweet and suspenseful, and it hits the spot. Exactly what we've all come to expect from Nora Roberts. Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the chance to review this advance copy.

**SIGH** I’m not really sure how to rate or review this book. It definitely wasn’t what I’d hoped for or expected. And maybe that’s the problem, I set myself up for disappointment.

I find that 3rd person POV is difficult for me to enjoy. While reading, I tend to feel like the story is being told to me as opposed to being shared with me. Tommy did this, Sarah said that... doesn’t engage me. There were moments in the story where I was drawn in, but this was a long book, so those moments felt few and far between. What didn’t help were the multiple side stories that not only caused confusion, but took up too much real estate along with the main character’s exercise videos. To make matters worse, one moment we are reading about Adrian and the next paragraph we are reading about the killer. The lack of transition created confusion and frustration. I also felt the romance came on without warning. With little to no build, the romance felt forced and almost thrown in for good measure.

I know this review sounds harsh and that isn’t my intent. I didn’t hate this book, but I didn’t love it either. There are many 4 and 5 star reviews out there so read those, too. This is the first book I’ve read from this author that missed the mark for me. I take heart knowing there are many more that I did love.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book.
Loved the book. Many great storylines, well developed, likeable characters. All about family and relationships alongside a thriller that does manage to thrill by the end. Couldn't put it down.

Another of Nora Roberts books becomes a favorite. Of all the authors I read Nora has an extra special talent of developing characters who you would welcome into your home and love from the minute they are introduced. They are the members of a family who you wish you could join, find and include in your life. From the tragedy of meeting her father for the first and last time, to find love and friends in her school and grandparents communities, to succeeding and growing as an enrepreneur in the exercise industry following in her mother's footsteps, to the dangers of threats on her life, to finding love you are with her every minute biting your fingernails or clapping your hands when things turn out right. It was a novel I did not want to come to an end wanting to walk with her characters a little while longer. Another 5 star novel by Nora Roberts.

I've been reading Nora Roberts books since her first book and always look forward to her new book coming out. I enjoyed this book very much and it kept me wanting to read to find out what would happen next. We follow the life of Adrian Rizzo--because of a traumatic event that occurred when she was young, she was sent to live with her grandparents. Her mothy put more focus on her fitness business than her daughter so she spent lots of time with her grandparents. When Adrian gets older and has started her own fitness brand, she starts getting death threats, which her mother dismisses. Thus the mystery of who wants to see her dead begins and the story has quite an exciting ending. Thank you to the publisher for sending me an arc link to read this book!!

Reading Legacy was effortless. It was easy to fall into the story and get completely wrapped up in the characters and the plot. I've never read a NR book I disliked. This one has the pizazz of her books. The villain was perniciously evil. I figured out who it was very early on. I liked all the characters in the story. Teesha and Monroe were my favorites. There were many scenes that were funny and endearing. I adored the romance of Jasper and Sadie. It also brought a smile to my face. NR books are something I look forward to every year. This is the time I scored one through NetGalley so I was over the moon.

I received an ARC Kindle edition of this book from NetGalley.

Trigger warning: school shooting, graphic violence

I have just finished this book at the time of this writing, and I was up far too late finishing it (it's a work night after all). The pace of this book starts off well, but as part 1 comes to a close it comes to a screeching halt. It then ramps back up during part 3.

While I like most of the characters, Adrian gets far too pushy/bossy by pushing her workout regimens on people. Other than the slight annoyance, the book was a great read.

Thank you to NetGallery and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. I love Nora Roberts as well as her In Death series written under the pen name of J.D. Robb.

Legacy is written with the same fast-paced twists and turns as her In Death series which are my favorite! Nora wove the theme of family, friends, lovers, and danger throughout the story with her typical rich depiction of each character as well as Adrian’s small hometown.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

I read all of Nora Roberts' books. Some I like more than others and this was one I thoroughly enjoyed.. I really like the characters and was invested in how they would evolve through the story. I also cried more reading this book than I have in quite some time, definitely hitting some emotional areas. The mystery/suspense plot was relatively easy to figure out, but for me, the story was more about the relationships built during a lifetime and how they shape events to come. My favorite subplot was the romance between Jasper and Sadie. There are books of Nora's I read over and over again. This will be one of them.

I'm a big NR fan but I have to say this one wasn't a favorite. I enjoyed the characters and their complex and likable qualities as well as the overall plot. However, I felt at times the story was too drawn out and a little too mundane. I found myself wishing I could fast forward at times to get to the good parts. I do wish there had been more of a back story on Adrian and Raylan when they were kids. It was an opportunity to build a friendship between the two characters and it seemed they barely knew the other person was alive much of the time. Overall, I enjoyed the book and I'm happy to have read it. Thank you for the opportunity.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via Netgalley)

This a great introduction to Nora Roberts as herself. (Prior to this I had only ever read JD Robb.) The time jumps in the beginning threw me off a bit but once I got into it it was really hard to put down. It all came together nicely and I enjoyed it.

Description had my expectations very high - It is Nora Roberts!!
I was excited to read the ARC.

Beginning was good, love Adrian. Then I found myself daydreaming and my thoughts went to my To-Do List
and work, my job, ... I lost interest as more characters came w/no depth
I am a fan, but this book needs more

I am sorry but I didn't care for this book, I couldn't finish it. I've always been a big fan of Nora Roberts and I thank NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book felt off to me, like it had so much going on and none of it came through. Romance wasn't enough, mystery surely wasn't 'there' (for me). Maybe it is me because I see on Good Reads that a lot of people enjoyed it. I always have to like the main characters and Adrian I didn't care for. Why you ask, well, she felt a tad plastic to me. Maybe too perfect?? Didn't feel the connection between the main characters in the romance part. I didn't understand why so much time was spent on the younger years. I kept thinking is this an adult book or YA? I'm sorry, yes, I'll always read Nora Robert's books because this could have just been me.

This book did not disappoint. The book grabbed my attention immediately and kept me engaged throughout. Lina and Raylan were well developed and believe able characters. And the suspense, as always, kept me reading just one more page until I could put it down. And I must say that I continue to enjoy Nora Roberts’ use of her trademark clipped sentences.

I haven't read a contemporary from Ms. Roberts in years but am very happy to report she still has it. I found myself quite engrossed with the setup and how effortlessly Roberts integrates us into her characters' lives, building elaborates storylines while maintaining the hint of mystery that evolves as the story unfolds.

Legacy follows Adrian, a girl whose father attempts to kill her as a child. She grows up to become some sort of fitness instructor and starts to receive death threats.

Although the premise of the book was interesting, actually reading it fell flat for me. The style of writing for this book was just very bland and everything went by way too fast. I did not feel invested in the characters or villain. The beginning was enticing, but there just was not enough there for me to want to finish the book. Definitely would not recommend.
